So I've bought the Dutch version of Winx Club; Secret of the lost kingdom, behind the scenes, and I couldn't resist scanning from it.

Let's start, shall we?



A shot of the summary, and a pretty shot of Daphne, flying.



I really like how Bloom looks in the top 2D-panel.... very Disney-ish.

Translation: These are the first Black/white sketches of the meeting between me and Daphne en, next to them, the final images like they appear in the movie



*Sigh* Yes Bloom, we know you're the star.... let's get this over with, okay?

Translation: Am I the leading roll?
On the door of my dressing room hangs a star. So I'm the star of the movie, altough I still feel like the same girl, that goes to Alfea school, fights evil and is searching for the truth.

Look! These are study-sketches from a few of my trademark expressions. Poor me.



Perky!Bloom. Nice shot of her earthern parents.

I can hardly believe it, but it's true, I'm the star in a movie that tells the story of my life and my destiny. The adventure that awaits me is a lot more dangerous then previous adventures, because my enemies that try to stop me are the most frightening witches of all dimensions.

My house stayed the same.... and my parents are always there for me. Note: I really like the fact that she still calls them her parents.



Cute picture of Ron and Kiko, dancing.

Translation: I'm not alone. In many animated movies, there is a mascot or at least a cute animal who we see doing funny and clumsy stuff. Our movie has two: Kiko and Ron Ron. Together they'll garantuee endless jokes and fun.

The light of Magix is ideal for outside shots.




Just who is that guy she dances with in those sketches? ... Is it Sky?! No way! He's way to gorgeous to be Sky!

WIth the acting of the scene we all to happilly kept to the script.
This is one of the most romantic scenes
Let's get to the truly nice parts, m'kay?



Stella, doing what she does best: making herself pretty.



Uhm.... you okay there, Stella? You look a bit pale.... let's hope it's not contagious.

Translation: I keep getting prettier. I'm so curious of what will be waitinf for us as lead characters in an animated movie.... I feel 3D-perfect!

My 'knight' also took the challenge of the animated movie seriously.



That's better. Love the 2D shot with her and the eclipse.

Translation: This is my jewel box, with in the middle, the stone of harmony.
In the movie we reach the ultimate level of magic: we become Guardian fairies. This all happens on Alfea during the Day of the Gift.



Dunno if it's an error or not... but those sketches are clearly from her 2D Enchantix.... ah well, still nice.

Translation: My transformation in Enchantix is really gorgeous!

Dear God, it IS contagious. You're a latina, Flora, why the paleness?

Translation: Helia in 3D is just as fascinating and mysterious as always. Who know how many outographs he has to give to fans.



Ah, the miracle of asperin.

Translation: I'm here to! I'm your trusty Flora. My three-dimensional appearance isn't really different. I'm just the fairy of flowers you know so well. In the movie you can see clearly what I'm good at: giving advice and comfort. Especially Bloom I can help often. She holds the book of destiny close to her.



Funny, Flora's one of my least favorite fairies, but she looks abso-friggin gorgeous! That sketch of her is one of the best sketches of Winx, ever.

Translation: My transformation looks spectacular thanks to genius special effects.
My magic stone of Harmony gives me the energy which lets me understand all mysteries of nature.
Fun fact!: Did you know that the waving movements of our hair were very hard for the designers to make in 3D? A special team studied for months on our flowing hair. With breath-taking results!

Fun fact! The study of our appearance was quite a chore. The designers took months, but the result is phenomenal! Winx in optima forma!

*Looks at Musa sketch* Hmmm, very anime-esque, could you tone that down a bit, Musa?



I said TONE IT DOWN! Ah well, still a great sketch.

There are sketches that should better be kept in the drawer..... some things are private! Well, it is a great scene, technically speaking.....

Under the night-sky of Magix, in a very thrilling scene, Riven asks Hagen about the question of good and evil.



*Clap!*
Translation: Since the celebration of the Day of the Gift, the day I received the jewel box with the power of harmony, I can hear the music from all worlds and dimensions.



Nice musical notes.... but they look better in 3D.

Translation: Now I can hear the symphony of the universe
Hurray! I'm a true guardian fairy! I'll protect my people and the entire magical dimension!

Don't worry, there's more where that came from. I'll do it over the weekend. Tecna, Layla, Mandragora and Hagen are up by then.

Should I translate some bits? It's heavily simplified speech (Especially for a CGI geek like me.) and obviously meant for the younger reader, but some bits are pretty interesting. (Like which scenes were the hardest to make.... and that there are over a hundred characters and that each girl has seven different pairs of clothes).

The sketches looks very anime to me, I think they've used anime styles to draw characters.

Yeah. I don't really mind, Winx Club got the Best batch of Bishies around. And it's not even Japanese!

In a Dutch bookstore, I saw it and couldn't resist.....

Yeah, most of the girls look pretty pale in those models of them. (Only Layla and Musa don't.... and that's just because Musa's supposed to be Asian.), and I'm glad they fixed it in the actual movie.

Musa looks cool! so manga/anime like. but it does seem that they tried to hard to make her look more asian. but she still looks awesome!
somebody finally agrees with me. i also think flora is latina. she look so pretty with the vines around here.

He does, doesn't he? In fact, most boys/males in the movie look really handsome, the only real exceptions being Saladin Wizgiz and Sky. Even Hagen has some sort of badass elder charm over him.
