I saw it, didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. It was a little too long-winded in the second half, what with the neverending battle. Seriously, I stopped paying attention really, my mind was somewhere else entirely in the theater! Maybe it was because I was a little tired and dreading an hour of driving home at 1am, haha. Others have agreed with me though, the battle scenes took WAY too long. It also didn't really help that Superman seemed pretty stoic through it all, practically the entirety of Manhattan was in ruins (with presumably thousands of fatalities) right under him and he never tried rescuing anyone, just focused on punching down more and more spaceships.
I liked the first half though! It was a great take on Superman's beginning and his finding out about his origin. Very "poetic" somehow. It was a very serious movie though, and I wouldn't have minded a little more light-heartedness within all this drama, but that would have changed the entire tone of it. The relationship with Lois Lane moved way too fast in my honest opinion, they meet like twice and she's pulled into the action for no tangible reason (at least didn't seem to make much sense to me) and you just kinda get the vibe that they end up together because you knew it would happen from the start and without much actual development within the movie. That annoyed me a little bit.
I thought it was a nice movie overall, though! I don't know what went wrong there, I'm usually embarassingly easy to impress when it comes to anything, but there was something about this one that seemed a little off to me. Of course I have very limited knowledge of Superman and I haven't even seen the earlier movies, everything I've gathered about him is from piecing together information I've been fed from here and there but I agree with P-girl, he's the kind of a superhero I would have preferred to see in a more light-hearted movie.
Also Henry Cavill is so handsome that I had no complaints about getting to look at him the entire time. |

A pixel doll Fa made me at randomIt's been a while since I last talked to her, but I will miss her tremendously. I'm pretty sure she was the most loving and kind person I've ever met, and she was never afraid to show us all how much she appreciated us, by making gifts in the form of art or sending postcards, even if she didn't get anything in return. She was one of my biggest inspirations to also do those "random acts of kindness" for my friends and her, which I did occassionally but not nearly as much as she did for all of us! Her optimism and kindness will be greatly missed and I don't know if I'll ever meet someone as special as she was, she was really one of a kind. Rest in peace, dear sweet Fa. <3 |

I saw it in theatre recently, I loved it! I haven't read the book yet, but I hope to soon (it's pretty short so it isn't a problem). I haven't seen earlier adaptions though!
My favourite parts of the movie were the music and the cinemagraphy to be honest! The acting and everything was also awesome, it was just a really quality movie! I don't know if Leo will get an oscar, it's a running gag that Leonardo DiCaprio will never get an oscar haha... He deserves it though! I wouldn't be too hopeful though, as there are bound to be more movies this year that will be so ~deep~ that they'll appeal to the Academy more. In my opinion, it weren't always the most deserving moves/actors that got an Oscar!
It's bound to get plenty of awards anyway, beautiful sets and scenery, and terrific acting! And amazing costumes! Like I said, the music was my favourite part of the movie, it included a lot of my favourite artists, haha... Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Beyonce and Jay-Z, and many others! Amazing
My favourite was that they mentioned that Daisy and Tom had a child like twice during the entire movie. I'm not even sure if Gatsby knows she has a kid. Parents of the year haha |
