I wouldn't get surprise if the shows are to be cancelled. But since it only left a few episodes, it should be cleared as soon as possible isn't it? They bought the series, and I think that it might be a waste for them not to air them all.

The merchandise aren't the things we should worry about, since its sales are quite successful at the moment.

NO, JUST NO. NO LIVE ACTION MOVIE. IGINIO STRAFFI,

It's not that I want Winx to be just animation or something. Live musical, performance for kids yeah. But Live featured films? No. Just no.

It's really terrible to bring animation to live action films, look at Dragon Ball and Avatar: The Last Airbender. So No. It's not terrible to have more live musical or performance... but live action movie based on the animation... just no. Sorry, but I do not want to watch or hear anymore movie that's based on animation anymore. Its just... to me it's a waste of VFX.

I know I am going to get killed, but I stand by what I said. I want a good story, and I can play along with CGI and 2D. As long as there's a strong story plot that is understandable is more important for me. icon_mad.gif

As for the animation part, I strongly believe that it will get better day by day, year by year. 2D or 3D, doesn't matter. Animators and other workers have to work like hell to produce animated series. To me, animation can be improved, story is important.

I am not going to make any remarks on the CGI, ok. I kinda agree with P-Girl, give CGI a chance.

I also agree that I prefer classical 2D, but while watching the 3D movies I like the 3D version in the secret of the lost kingdom more. Magical adventure... well I kinda find that a bit disappointing. Although CGI is not-so-well done in season 5, and the main reason is probably more on budget and the quality for a tv series I assumed. (Look at Kung Fu Panda Series, their CGI quality in TV series are not-so good compared to the movie but it's still awesome!)

The reason why I say I am giving a chance for the CGI in this series is because I feel that they kinda put effort on it. There's a reason why a few of us mentioned that 3D are expensive. Besides paying for the animators, we also must pay the modellers, riggers, and VFX artists. I kinda agree with RenaEnchantix, that we have to pay more animators on the 2D side. Plus, they probably invest a lot of money developing a new 3D software just purely for a 3D animation, like tangled the movie.

Ya the 3D animation looks kinda bad in my opinion, but the reason so is because for those who went straight into 3D without going through 2D, it's hard to grab the timing right. But overall for a TV series, I think it's ok if it's for experimental.

Lastly I agree, the big gap for airing this series is not such a good idea.

I will not be surprised if nick ends up like 4kids, after all since nowadays media companies are failing and a lot of them are forced to shut down.... either it's the financial issues or the ratings for their show. That's why straffi is clever than he sold 40% of his company stake...

*sigh* If only the audience are easy to please, lol.

New love interest for Layla, eh?
I'm gonna wait things out until the end. For all we know she goes 'I'm not ready yet' or Nabu returns, or something. There's still too little information.
I personally hope he becomes a love interest and THEN Nabu returns. Even if it's just for the akward levels.

That awkward moment.... I see what you did there Mr. Straffi.

He doesn't have much of a personality yet, but I actually really love Roy's appearance, especially his hair :$ But I really hope the most that happens is that he pursues Layla but she says she's not ready to move on yet.

Anyone notice the selkies in the 4th page of Sen's screens? Six of them, means we probably get to see Zenith too =D

And wow, the harmonixes look soo much better in the pictures. To be honest I've never liked them much in the show, but they look really good in the pictures.

his appearance? Out already?

She's already your fiance

You guys been through so much just to be together.

And now you can't remember anything just because of a frickin pendant? Wow... Just wow.

Not that surprised since that's his personality: worry too much. =__=

Are you talking about the theme of the season? Because to me, that one's very obvious to the point they're slamming us over the head with toxic waste barrels.
That said, I'm personally not someone who minds wether or not something has an overarcing theme or not.
And I'm personally not looking forward to Harmonix and Sirenix. Believix's design was awesome and the new transformations, to me at least, is a huge drop in awesome-ness. (They all look the same! Seriously.)

The word "Theme" is more to describe of their genre/their world (Magical, mystical etc) I would describe it as "A moral of the story that includes "what" and "why" in it."

You don't need a perfect concept for an animation, you just need to let the audience understand what you're trying to tell. The environment thing episode is obviously there, but that that's not the series are trying to tell isn't it? Why I am confused is because they include a lot of ideas inside and i have no idea which one is the one that they're trying to say. Therefore i am disappointed because it just makes me think that they don't have a concept for this season at all, the animation and the drama thing is the one that pulls the audience, thurs it somehow makes some scenes predictable, well to me, and also I can't even have a rough idea of what's going on.

Y'know, it's not just younger kids loving this season.
I'm a regular at the Winx Club Livejournal, which is comprised of mostly older Winx fans, and they're loving it thusfar. So the 'Only kids might like this' assumption is a bit unfounded.
Also, I don't like the 'My childhood is ruined because it's not as good' sort of thinking. Did this season travel back in time and made the (In your eyes) good stuff bad or something? Like you said, it went downhill for you after The Secret of the Lost Kingdom and that seemed to be the end. It's quite easy to declare everything after that non-canon if you really want to. It's what I did after one of my favorite series had a lousy part (Tekken 4 never happened.)

What I meant was I can no longer feel the climax of the story, as the new concept of the story are not clear, well to me. Secondly, the reason why I make a comparison of the previous and the current one is not because that the new one ruined my impression for winx or something, it's because as an audience it is important that what's the story is about. Season 1 till the first winx movie, i know what's the concept about, although it's not perfect but at least it's strong and it's there. Well at least season 4 I get to know that it centres about Roxy although it's a bit disappointment due to the lack of the concept, but now currently I see no concept for this series at all, like really.

I know it's only been a few episode, but from these few episode I have absolute no idea what the hell is it about, and secondly the drama just makes it even much more confusing. i don't get what Straffi is trying to tell in this season, but for me the concept of the story is more important than the actions/drama that's in the show.

Different people have different opinions, for me I'm just assuming that straffi targeted only the kids because of the styles he's doing/showing it right now, and I didn't say that the older winx fans won't like it. For me, I love the way they have improved the animation, and the timing have obviously improved a lot better. But what I really concern about the most is the concept and what is it that it's trying to tell the audience. I find this important because not just thinking as the perspective of a filmmaker, but also an audience who is curious of what is the director is trying to tell. Even if it's like a stupidest comedy show ever, I am certain that the director is trying to tell us something.

I am disappointed because Straffi just.... lost the touch of it. I can't possibly say that it's awesome, as I think that it will be a lie as a fan and also a disrespect for Straffi, but i cannot say it's that bad either. At least they have improved on the animation, timing, anticipation and the character design. At least these are few few points i find it good so far.

I am disappointed, but I never say that "oh i'll stop watching it cuz it sucks." because my review doesn't end here, as I need to watch the whole series to add in more/re-write my opinions. So far, these are the assumptions I had while watching the first few episodes, as I really really don't understand a single bit of what it's trying to tell and is confused. All I know that it's drama and they're trying to save the world again, nothing else. I have absolute no idea what's going on besides them trying to get serinix and lots of drama occurs.

I have to be honest here... the sky losing his memory thing is predictable. Secondly, this time winx is definitely targeted only for kids of 5-10 yrs old, unlike the previous winx series they have include more action but lesser concept of the story.

After watching season 4, I already find that they have already lost the climax for the show, and season 5 just makes it much more plainer. To me, I just feel that Secret of the lost kingdom is already an ending. An ending for the whole story (since it's mainly about bloom) and personally, I think that it's better that they end it there instead of continuing I know, I as a winx fan also wanted to see winx continue, but what's the point of continuing the show when the climax and the story are already done, like literary when it has already come to an end?

As an audience when I was young, I know why Straffi wants to keep winx alive, mainly its because of the young audience out there who wants winx to continue their adventure. I grow up with winx, so I don't mind when the show must go on. But right now, my perspective view for winx is far off different from the audience, or probably because I am working in a similar industry or my point of view changed as I get older. The climax of the story is already gone, leaving the actions of the story (like sky losing his memory and Tecna become a evil creature.) is like just trying to serve a bowl of plain soup without any seasoning. Looks good but tasteless.

The whole drama thing is just trying to catch the audience's anticipation, like hoping for a happy ending etc. I know I know, it's only season 5 episode 4, I should not be certain that overall the whole series sucks, and everyone is going to hate me for what I said. But judging from the way that it's going on, I am sure that besides trying to kill the bad guy and fight the trix, they have absolute have ran out of idea so they have to keep winx alive by just putting in more drama that's obviously what fanfic writers will do.

I know i sound utterly sarcastic now, and I am sure that most of the young audience will hate me for what I've said. But not only as a filmmaker, but also as an older gen audience I personally feel that if they want winx to be alive and yet at the same time keeping the climax of the plot for the series they should have carefully build up a strong concept for the series, and secondly too much drama will kinda ruin the concept you're trying to tell the audience, a little should be fine (But Sky losing his memory is a bit too much.... I admit I had enough of the bloom sky drama thing but for this season right after he lost a frickin' pendant and being emo for the rest of his life and for no reason lost his memory.... it's a bit too much. At least season 3 they controlled it quite okay.) To be honest, from season 1 to 3 and the Secret of the lost kingdom at least I roughly know the concept of the story is to believe in yourself although you have to go through a lot of obstacles to find what you desire. But from season 4 onwards I have no frickin idea what the hell is it about, and right now season 5 from what I see is saving environment, sky being emo and this show becomes a drama series instead sticking on the fantasy genre.

I apologise for such long, full of sarcasm review, but I am disappointed for what my teenagehood show has become. I hope that I will not be killed right after everyone sees this. For now, I am just a honest person who's just giving my truthful opinion. It's not just winx, I will also definitely give my honest review to my other favourite show as well. I'm just being fair.

The episode seemed pretty up front to me and I'm not sure why you're saying harmonix since they are still in their believix forms.

I was also mad that trix are once again teaming up with someone. Can't they do anything by themselves anymore? I guarantee one of them is going to have a crush on this guy sometime during the season and it will cause problems just like in previous seasons.

they will never learn their lesson, that's what straffi made them of. =__=

I just feel pity for that merman who's being suicidal. it's obvious that his brother have more love than him, that's why he's jealous. I mean look at layla, she even said that he's a psycho. Ya now he is a psycho for trying to breath in more polluted oil for a higher risk of getting cancer or something. All I would say is, nice way of suicide, bro.

The hell bloom? Since when she has become sooo hare brained?

And sky reverted back to crown prince? wait wait wait.... I thought he's alrdy king or something since 2007? Wait a min.... did Brandon get a plastic surgery or something? He looks so.... like.... sharp.

Okay, I am utterly confused. What's with all those eco friendly episodes in season 5? What's with that merman and polluted sea to make himself powerful when he obviously forgot that he's a sea creature and need to survive in sea? And what the hell is the trix doing there out of no where?

And trix, haven't ya learn your lesson? Teamworking with a bad guy won't help you take over the world. lol. And merman ARNE'T attractive... like seriously lol.

All I learnt is Sky and Bloom drama are obviously coming back, scumbags winx and specialists makes Layla sad and think about Nabu but apparently they don't know the hell she's going through despites the fact that they known each other for years.

Oh, and a sadistic merman who's being suicidal and all thanks to his father. lol

da hell i've just watched?

The animation improved obviously a lot last time i saw this show. But the script and the story for this episode are boring. The visual is awesome, but the storytelling bores the hell outta me. I hope ep 2 gets better, and I would love to see Sky asap surprisingly. I loathed him and now like him for his firckin awesome hair icon_razz.gif

surprisingly, I like Harmonix outfits more than sirenix's. But both of the transformations looks goof to me so far, the the soundtrack's cool, hell ya the transformation and clothes is sooo much way better than believix. Is it just me or stella looks much more chubbier in the current CGI?

Probably Rainbow Media is not doing good. From what I know, regards on games and apps, it's all done by Rainbow Media, and trust me it's hard to make a living with these in Singapore.

I heard that the economy in europe are not so good, budget could be another thing. Plus I've experienced too much bug while trying to get into the game, and i can't even frickin' play it. I'm not surprised that it's going to shut down, because it's too buggy and even my sister experienced computer clash while trying to get the page load.

Don't even bother telling me about reporting it, I've tried but no reply from them.

used to respect straffi until i took the arrow on my knee.

I love both 2D and 3D, and seems that their 3D is getting better (watch the new rainbow movie trailer they posted on youtube recently.) Straffi used to worked for his passion, but right now I feel that it's money he's concerning now.

I dunno, maybe because I'm old skool, and have watched rainbow's 2D animation since young. I still need time to get used to their "moving to CGI and to earn tons of money" concept.

Okay.... these are my impression when I was still an avid fan of theirs. Things that I've said below sounds childish because that's what I really think when I was 12 to..... teen? :s

Bloom: I only like her second when I first watched the trailers of the series. But after watching the series, she my fave winx, same as stella because we shared that "daydream and believe in fairies" personalities.

Stella: Oh needless to say, she's my favourite of all time after watching the show! I love her soo much, especially when she's with Brandon!!! *scream like fangirl* We both totally shared the exact same personalities, especially when it comes to shopping and acting really princess-ish. Gotta say I love that girl!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Flora: My first impression of her is"god I love her so much because she's in pink!" xD But yeah, I still love her because she's really sweet :)

Musa: My first impression on her is: She's awesome because she play music.

Tecna: First impression: She bores me because she's somewhat like my math teacher.

Layla: When I first saw her in season 2, to be honest my impression to her was neutral. But later she's kinda my favourite because she can dance, and her friendship between her and musa.

Roxy: Don't like her much. For some reason, I don't know why. Maybe she's "other Bloom" in season 4, I think, which annoys the hell out of me.

Sky: used to be my favourite because he totally look like my idol during that time. But dislike him to the max as I watch the whole series. Just a mother boy and a guy who can't handle his BG relationship well, which is obviously a big failure in life for a guy.

Brandon: He's cute, okay! Love him to the max!

Riven: I love his pink hair, but I don't like the person because he's a jerk.

Helia: I just can't stop myself being attracted to long-haired guys eh? xD

Nabu: Among all long-haired guy, he's an exception. My first impression on him was: Is he a stalker or what? That is what really creeps me out icon_razz.gif

Andy: Bloom's eyes must be something wrong to break up with his cutie and go for a mother blondie boy icon_razz.gif

Icy: First impression: She's so cold.

Darcy: First impression: She scares the hell out of me with that dark eye circles of hers.

Stormy: First impression: She needs to go rebonding.

Darkar: I want to see what's behind those red.... armors.... I think?

Valtor: Cutest villain i've ever seen

Season 4 villians: Cute... but not as cute as valtor icon_razz.gif

I can't compare my current impression to my first impression now, as I'm not really an avid fan of theirs anymore. It's hard.... but I still remember the good old days... :)
Oh what good old days.....
