It's missing Horror, fantasy, Biography.... and a book can make you feel more then just happy or sad.

Nice Idea, but way to limited in it's options.

Posted by: Bloom girl Jan 29 2009, 1:45 PM

Why ??
I think that fantasy is something like science fiction.
Biography ? I don´t know what is this.
About horror, yes you are write, I have forgot it .
I don´t know any other kind of books and these are the most usual.
"a book can make you feel more then just happy or sad."Ok . I agree , but I didn´t add a question about feelings. All the questions are about the story of the book you are reading.

Posted by: P-girl Jan 29 2009, 1:47 PM

Why.... what?

Like I said, you're missing some important genre (Horror, Fantasy, Autobiography, non-fiction)
And books can make you feel more then happy, or sad. The last book I read gave me shivers down my spine. (So.... yeah, fear.) and before that, a book annoyed me to no end. Before that; amazement.

Ok , I forgot some important things , but I didn´t know them.
About the feelings , yeah books can make you feel more then happy, or sad.But like I said , there isn´t a question about feelings at the poll.

Your second question is:

The story is:

Funny icon_smile.gif
Sad icon_sad.gif

So stories can't be exciting, scary, aggravating, annoying, amazing, boring?

..... you catch my drift.

Posted by: Bloom girl Jan 29 2009, 2:18 PM

Ok ,Ok !
I just put the basic !!!

Posted by: P-girl Jan 29 2009, 2:20 PM

Happy and Sad are NOT basics. That's like the basics of the basics.

Posted by: Bloom girl Jan 29 2009, 2:32 PM

Ok...
I don´t know many words in English , I am still learning...
But you are right.
I made the poll in a hurry and I add the "basic of the basics".

Posted by: P-girl Jan 29 2009, 2:35 PM

M'okay.

Maybe I was a bit unreasonable because the book I'm reading right now can't be described by ANY option.

eeh

what does this topic about?

Posted by: P-girl Jan 29 2009, 3:01 PM

Books you're reading. Bloom girl wants a poll on what's popular. But since my book is a Children's Horror book with a Bittersweet ending (At best)......

My favourite is a greek book "Το περασμα της γάτας" it´s a touching story about a cat .
Also my favourite is "Περσεφόνη, η πάπια που πήγε σχολείο"( Persefoni, the duck that went to school) it´s also a touching story.

Whoa! Did I just see someone compare my beloved Science fiction to Fantasy?

there are some major differences! Science fiction (ones that are properly written) incorporates (if a bit screwy) Science into the story and they follow very strict rules. Fantasy can get a way with a lot more freedom. therefore Science fiction =/= Fantasy.

and back to topic. I have to agree with P-girl, there are a lot more emotions than Happy and Sad. the latest book I read made me think and it was a fantasy. yea the end of the book was very happy but through out the story there were hints of things that'll happen in later books ( like the two main characters dying in the last book {unpublished, sad about that}.

Posted by: P-girl Jan 29 2009, 7:28 PM

Man, I didn't even spot that. Nonononono Sci-fi and Fantasy.... HUGE difference.

Posted by: LinneaKou Jan 29 2009, 9:39 PM

Too general, Bloom girl. We need historical fiction in that list. Also fantasy, slice-of-life, and crime.

Also, the book I'm reading is not funny or sad, it's dramatic and thrilling. (Gravelight by Marion Zimmer Bradley, whose entire collection I am working through)

ok ok !! I know I forgot many things that I DON´T know , so I made the poll general !
if you don´t like it don´t vote,it´s simple.

Posted by: P-girl Jan 30 2009, 9:27 AM

But I DO like to vote and see the results. I just want more options. Like I said before, NONE of those options describe the books I normally read. (I mean, how on Earth can I vote for a book like 'Dance Macabre' if the options 'No Ending' 'Enthralled' and 'Non Fiction' aren't among what I can choose? (BTW 'Dance Macabre'; good book on the essence and history of Horror, written by Stephen King.))

that´s why I put ´other´ sleep.gif

It´s not my fault ! I took the idea from an English book.It had only these kind of books. sad.gif icon_cry.gif

harry potter lol

P-girl @ : You said that I forgot horror ; thriller is the same thing,isn´t it ?

Posted by: P-girl Jan 30 2009, 2:04 PM

Not at all.

Horror is based around dread, fear.
Thriller's more about action and suspense. There's a world of difference between the two.

I'm reading Romeo and Juliet. No it's not happy. It's a sad love story.

Posted by: Jahnavi Feb 2 2009, 3:51 PM

Aw... I love Romeo and Juliet. It's one of my favorites by Shakespeare.

Posted by: humbu111 Feb 2 2009, 10:11 PM

I'm dreading having to read Much Ado About Nothing and the Hobbit in English... no offence but I hate Shakespeare, and the Hobbit is too long and the print is tiny, my eyesight is gonna die icon_sad.gif
