[tl;dr: Pick the member who you think most deserves it to be nominated for each category.]

The way this works, is that everyone can nominate one person per category. Once a person has a minimum of two nominations for said category, they will be put on the voting list. The first four three people to be placed on the voting list will be the options for that category. Once there are four three people on the voting list for each category, nominations will be over and voting will begin. Each person will be allowed to vote once per category for someone on the voting list. Note: When nominating/voting, you do not have to nominate/vote for someone for all categories, you can nominate/vote for whichever categories you choose to. You can also nominate/vote for some categories at one time, and others later. Once a nomination/vote is submitted, it can only be changed before the list is updated. I will update the first post as new nominations are posted. Also, Jahnavi and I have talked it over and decided to add a new rule this time: In order to be placed on the voting list, you must have participated in the awards nomination. So you can nominate anyone you like, but even if a person has enough nominations to be placed on the voting list, they have to have contributed (i.e., submitted nominations for atleast half of the categories) themseleves, to be placed on the final voting list. I will vote later once I have worked out who to nominate as some of my last votes last time won't count. I have a couple of questions though how long is nominations and lets say I vote for a member who does not nominate in half the categories can I re nominate?

But this isn't really the way to go. You'd be actively stop people from getting rewards, just because they don't show up. Ranma, Jspitz.... those are people I feel deserve awards in their respective category, yet they won't get any chance just because they won't show up in threads like this? Yeah.... it feels off.

How about...for categories like fan-art and RP in particular, we DON'T enforce that rule? Everywhere else seems okay to me, because that's only really active members anyway, but with RP and Fan-art in particular, some people just tend to stay on their 'turf', so to speak.

'Kay, forget that, I was only semi-serious; I'm not here to pick on people. =)

But anyway, you have to try and see it from Humbu's and my perspective: we're still not sure if enough people are active, and we want as many as possible for this, so we made that rule. {And that's precisely our point: Shouldn't these awards go to talented, active members in the first place? I'm not doubting that Jessie's art is amazing, but why didn't I nominate Esca, then? Her art's great too, we just haven't seen it in a while...}

That's just my point: This rule should hopefully only stand for this round of awards. If they're active, is it too much to ask for them to vote just this once?

And if they don't, is that really a reason not to give them an award? It's not an award for activity, it's an award for talent. Let's look at it from another standpoint. This is done to stimulate voting. I can get that. But tell me; how are you stimulating voting, if you actively lock people out?

How 'bout a truce? Y'know, we can vote for whoever we want, but only if they were active in say..... a certain amount of time. How does that sound?

If you really want to enforce this rule, go ahead. I'm just sad this means people I feel are deserving (Ranma, Morrigan.....) don't get awards.

Okay so first of all, like Jah said the point is to nominate active members, not members who have been gone for so long that they don't even see the topic. Nominations arent gonna be over in a day, if a member is active enough to see the topic in the time it is active for, they should be able to nominate. Just because someone used to post in the past, it doesnt mean they should be able to take the place of an active member. This is a stupid example I know, but just to get the point across: if Picasso made one post a few weeks ago with his artwork, that doesnt mean he should be nominated over active artists of our forum like Tea and Shani. Do you get my point? These are the Magix Club Forum awards, not just awards for whoever may have once been associated to the site and who has talent.

Another thing, I dont see why certain people who have seen the topic and are capable choose not to nominate. Almost every active member is, and not doing so yourself is not contributing to the forum. Its also selfish in the way that since you cant nominate yourself, if you dont nominate anyone at all, your own chances of winning go up.

This too isnt meant to attack anyone, I'm just trying to get my point across and it may have not be phrased as friendly cause I'm in a rush.

That's where my compromise came in; only voting for active members. I know Ranma and Morrigan probably aren't gonna vote, not out of selfishness, but because they don't participate outside their 'Region'. Oh well, I'm voting for them, do what you want with it. Snub them, don't. You're the boss.

Also, where's the Creative Writing nominees? RPs, graphics and art, but no Creative Writing?

i agree people like morri ranma, another morning ect they are active and such but they all also have lifes and tend to only stick to their own areas, and what if i were to have lost acess to the internet during the normination period but be otherwise active would i not be eligable to win an award either i really think that those who are general active but tend to stick to their own turf or might just have their own life to tend to shouldnt be pushed out. i just thought i would state my oppinion i hope my point is understood

Just updated the voting list! If anyone notices any mistakes please let me know. Below it is a list of the people who still need to nominate to remain on the list.

Sorry missed your question before. Ok so how it works is when nominating is over (I think a week should be enough, lets say nominations end June 1st) then anyone on the voting list who hasnt nominated will be taken off and everyone below them will move up a spot. Then will be the second part of nominations, basically to fill up the voting list with some more people. You might remember from last time, and I'll post more about it when the time comes.

Ok so remember that if anyone's already on the voting list, there's no point in nominating them anymore so you may as well nominate your second or third choice.

I'll submit my nominations soontimes I still need to work some stuff out. Thanx so much to everyone who has nominated for me so far (:

Nominating lasts for a week. If they really are active, they should be able to make this one post, its really not that hard. And of course not if someone lost their connection would they be excluded for that. An example is Rano for Secret Bunny, her internet was down so she missed sign ups but I still got her in didnt I? Seriously, it wasnt easy I had to ask like half the bunnies and send a ton of pm's but I still managed to. If someone has a specific legit reason then of course accommodations can be made. But it being outside of their "region" is no where near a good enough reason to me.

Sorry I missed that one. On one of the topics we were discussing it before and took out a bunch of the awards that had pretty much the same selection as last time. One of them was Fanfics cause there have been really few new fics recently. So "Best fiction writer MorriganAensland" isnt legit and you've nominated for less than half the categories.


Go right ahead, I'll edit it out. Seriously this is like dealing with an angry mob. Do you think you're doing me a favor by nominating? Puh-leeze.

Who said this was personally to you? It wasn't. I usually stay out of awards. But these new rules are unfair if you ask me. And illogical. How can you encourage voting if your new rules are all ways to exclude people? Also, this whole forum is PUBLIC. This topic is about the AWARDS. I have the right to say my piece about them, good or bad.

It just happened. To encourage people like you, who normally sit back and wait to see how many awards you've won without bothering to nominate/vote and give yourself competition, fear not winning anything and choosing to participate. See thats the thing, you dont normally dont participate, right? But you did this time? Do you see the connection?


Yeah no. The other topic was also public where whoever wanted to (about 5 people) participated in the discussion. If you have so much to add, you should have done it then rather than try to change everything now that the awards have already started.


You're at it again, thinking I get happy when you nominate. I assure you, it does not give me joy, pleasure, satisfaction, or anything else to see you nominate. You're the one who's happy now that you've secured yourself the ability to receive awards.

I'm thinking everything has died down now; this topic, throughout, has been an intense one. At least, I'm hoping all is calm, am I right?

Personally, I think it's important to look at both sides of the disagreement before it gets out of hand. Take some time to think about the feelings on both sides, and work out a result that works for everyone (even if this means imposing a temporary hiatus upon this project). That way, these tense arguments will cease.

No one likes to see fights around here: a peaceful forum is a happy forum. ^_^

Hopefully i don't get shot for this, but I really dont see why the award show is still a go.

To me, an award show is to reward the nominees for doing an outstanding job in their area. I just feel that nothing special has happened in any part of the forum worth rewarding. The site hasnt been as active as it once was, so what is the point of having an award show?

I keep hearing that it might make the site active or give the members something to do, but if thats the case why not just have a ball or something?

I'm not being rude, but you don't really care how I'm doing. But anyways, i really don't have time to rp like i used to. I wasn't lamenting anything, when the idea was first presented i said it was a bad idea.



I dont mean to be a downer, and dont take anyy offense to this. But i honestly dont see an award show will revive the site. Maybe an extreme ball will kinda attract more people. But the reality of the situation is the site has nothing to reward anybody for especially when the same ppl who were nominated last time are nominated again.

The only way i think activity could go up is if:

~ the admins/mods stepped in and helped

~ If/When the new season of winx airs, more ppl will come on to see it and thats when we should do activities like the scav hunt and the other contests that we had going on to keep them.

~ Also PROMOTION, need to goto other sites and promote MC to get more new members over.

I was trying to achieve this the last time i attempted to "revive" the site, i was successful until the drama happened. MC is like a 3rd home to me and although i dont want to see it die, i dont have the time to try to help get it back on its feet.

*IDEA*

Personally i think we should hold monthly Ball/ Get togethers so that Old and New members can keep in touch with each other and also keep everybody updated about what is going on in their life so even tho ppl like me arent 100% active, we can still come back once a month and have fun and make some memories

Thanx to everyone who nominated ^^ So I was thinking that since there arent as many active members to nominate this round, should we make the voting list consist of 3 candidates instead of 4 like it usually is? I think it would make the situation work out better under the circumstances. What do you guys think? [I'm going to change it to 3 candidates per award right now since I'm updating the list with the new nominations anyways, and if we decide to leave it at 4 I'll change it back.]

I know. Like I told P-girl, it's because a) I looked around that section of the forum--we haven't had enough active fan-fics recently, and b) we just had that one-shot contest, and the top three get prizes...

Thanx Ranma if you never posted we probably wouldnt have a 'Best Villain' category but you saved it lol (: And alright Shani, thanx, I'll pm you more about it when the time comes ^^ Anyone else wanting to help with prizes? We only have two so far...

The categories in the Update List that are italicized mean that they are final: everyone candidate has received atleast 2 nominations, and has submitted nominations themselves.

Also I'm sorry for not nominating you, I would have but when you took yours away there wasn't much point since they wouldn't count anyways =/ Its not fair if I change it now since I'm the one who made the rule of not being allowed to change your nomination after the list has been updated.

i still think you are going to the wrong way about this but thats just how i am but i dont normaly stand up the way i did i guess for once i just felt like rebelling and one of the main reasons i revoted was so everyone who voted for me dont lose their votes

Wow we got almost as many nominations as last time =D. Okay so first round nominations are now closed. Another thanx to everyone who nominated ^^ So now the first step is removing the names of all on the list who never nominated, and moving those below them up a spot. Here's how the list looks now:

So now to fix up the details and fill in as many of the empty spots as possible, we have nominations part two. The italicized categories' candidates are already finalized, but we still need to do some work on the others.

Sorry if this is complicated, I'm gonna try explaining as best as I can. So there are 2 type of categories which need fixing up:
1) The ones with more people in the 'One Nomination' section than there are places on the voting list, and
2) Ones where the three candidate spaces have not been filled up and there is no one in the 'One Nomination' section.

So for the first type, everyone can pick one person between the 'One Nomination' people and after 2 days, whoever has the most will fill get to go in the voting list.
For the second type, you can pick anyone not already on the list who has nominated (for part one) and who you think would make a good candidate to be placed on the voting list. After 2 days, whoever has the most will be placed on the voting list.
For both types, if there is a tie then all in the tie will be placed on the voting list cause if we keep doing tie breakers this could go on forever lol.
