Another testament of how far the GBA came, by comparing a machine that appeared both in Super Robot Wars Advance, released on September 21, 2001, and Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2, released February 3, 2005.
Its canon pilot is a certain redhead by the name of Axel Almer, one of the highest ranking officers of the Shadow Mirror organization, the original villains from Advance that came from a parallel reality. In Advance, he is one of the optional progaonists, and if you select him, he ends up suffering from amnesia and joins the heroes. Otherwise, he's one of the major villains of the game. The machine he officially piloted is the absurdly powerful Soulgain.
Original Generation 2 resued part of the Shadow Mirror storyline, and kept the story where he doesn't lose his memory and is one of the villains. He ends up with a profoundly heated rivalry with Kyosuke Nanbu, one of the main heroes of the Original Generation storyline, and presumeably dies at the end.
Same game platform, not even four years difference between the two games.
