So as I said, this comes from DeadInside's post about what songs you should hear before you die. I thought movies' is another interesting one. I may proceed to start a books one.

First I ahve to say American Beauty.
Now this is a pretty mature film(rated R for a reason kids), but it's really a beautiful movie. I won't say too much, but it's really really moving in such a simple way.

But do remember the R rating. There's some not-too-appropiate references in there.

Continue discussion people!

Movies to see before you die.....

Well, I'm going for the entire library of Guillermo Del Toro on this one. ESPECIALLY his work with Hellboy and his masterpiece, the amazing adult fairy tale that is 'Pan's Labyrinth.'
This man is a master of visuals, who, in my eyes, showed that movies can be an Art medium.

Also, Waltz with Bashir. This unusual documentary (It's all animated) is probably one of the closest things to the experiences these soldiers go trough, and the surreal imagining from time to time doesn't distract, no, it ADDS to that feeling. It's cold, distant, surreal and mesmerising..... and then the crying starts. Let's just.... leave it at that. Needless to say it was one of the most shocking things I experienced in a Cinema.

I agree about Guillermo Del Toro. He's a storyteller. Pan's Labyrinth was such a wonderful film. I don't feel that way a lot about movies.

Speaking of story-tellers, Hayou Miyazaki. He can tell so much in his movies, and as well as being moving, tear-wrecnhing movies, the artwork really makes you think too.

On anime, I still think nothing can top Ghost in the Shell; Innocence. Yes, I think that one was better then Miyazaki's stuff. But then again, I'm a sci-fi addict. I mean, I liked Wall-E better then Up. (Who both deserve a spot on the list, BTW)

Aw, this topic almost depresses me.

I would say...

Oh my... what movies, what movies...

Titanic, Avatar, Spirited Away, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Notebook... UP!... Monsters Inc. (Or anything Pixar) icon_mrgreen.gif I'm all for movies that make you bawl by the end of it. xD
Ah, there are some really good ones I'm leaving out... I'll have to think about this a bit more.

Yeah! I know he's getting a lot of flack for getting Esmeralda in the end, but he's one of my favorite Disney characters of all time. Probably because he was the first really flawed Disney 'Hero' that wasn't a comic relief. (Altough some of his scenes are hilarious).

Hehe. I have to say though, I much so prefer him in the movie than in the book. Disney did an epic job making him more so of a protagonist.

I disagree! He's totally there for comic relief! Him and Achilles. Without then, that would be the darkest Disney animated movie ever.

Nah, just because he has comical scenes doesn't mean he's comic relief. That's what those Gargoyles were for.
