Yeah, great huh? Well, I guess I prefered Winx than reading.
But, what mostly makes me upset, is that in four days I'm having my history exams and whoah, I know absolutely nothing. I didn't open the book the whole year. *smiles innocently*
So I gotta learn everything in three days... Any way to do it? I already passed the lessons, but if I don't do well with my exams, my grades will go lower.
Any tips on how to read?

But in all seriousness, just read through what you are being tested on twice. Once one day, once another day.

Posted by: Anna Maria May 17 2009, 6:00 PM

It's just, I can't concentrate at all. I open the book, read a sentence, and then my brain goes off. I start daydreaming or thinking about what to do after I finish, I try to stop it but nothing.
Let alone those eyes closing. I start feeling dizzy and I can barely read anything. And then I get to a break, which break lasts for hours...
Ugh.

Aww...that really does suck, hon.... And I'd clicked on this, prepared to help you somehow, too...until you said the "H" word....History. Nooo, thank you, ma'am. LoL I'd always done all right/well by the time of exams and such, but I was like you, and never really bothered to pay attention (unless/until the topic became interesting...which wasn't very often lol), and hated reading the books. ~_~'

Anyway, my lil' nostalgic memories don't help you much right now, no, but maybe someone else on here is more equipped to do so. You DO still have three days, apparently. So long as you know the specific focuses within each topic you'd learned (or didn't, apparently hehe ^_^') and will be tested on, you can quickly skim each chapter, or go online to find more info about them each, and make a study sheet out of that while highlighting the most important things.

That's what I usually do whenever studying for finals and stuff.

Question, though: Didn't your teacher give you some sort of outline of what's to be on the exam?? yeah, sure, "everything," but they're usually pretty specific about that, so all of you know for sure, and either hand out some sort of actual outline, or have you write it down in your notebook as they go over it.... icon_sad.gif

Posted by: Anna Maria May 17 2009, 6:30 PM

I wish teachers were more specific.
But no.
Thanks for the help though. I'll try to study somehow...

Aww. icon_sad.gif

Well, I'm still sure you'll be able to make it through, somehow, indeed, sweetie. Just try your best ^_^

Posted by: Anna Maria May 17 2009, 7:57 PM

Thanks. :) I just hope I don't go lower than last year. icon_razz.gif

Posted by: mightymarty2 May 17 2009, 8:22 PM

well i know how hard it is to revise i get distracted by a blank wall sometimes (it was more interesting as well), you just need to try and do a little by little

Posted by: Anna Maria May 17 2009, 8:31 PM

Thanks a bunch for the support!

Posted by: humbu111 May 17 2009, 9:02 PM

[noguests]Good luck! My piece of advise it just read/skim through it as many times as you can manage, and make mental notes of anything you think will probably be a key point in the exam. [/noguests]

I hope you won't, either, hon -- Just stay positive ^_~

Thanks people!

Posted by: Jahnavi May 18 2009, 8:06 AM

I agree with what the others have said above, and I also have one more suggestion:

Pick two or three chapters/topics/units that you know relatively well, and try to focus on those topics as much as possible. Then, skim the rest. That way, when you take the test, you know you'll definitely be able to do well on whatever questions relate to the topics that you studied hardest for, and you can just try the rest of the questions based on what you skimmed. I wish I had a better idea, but I think this is the best and quickest solution, considering your lack of time.

Good luck! ^_^

Posted by: Anna Maria May 18 2009, 8:14 AM

Thanks a lot!

Posted by: Jahnavi May 18 2009, 2:09 PM

You're welcome! Good luck for the test, I hope you do well! ^^

Posted by: Bloom girl May 19 2009, 4:40 PM

The final exams period started today in Greece. The first subject was Ancient History. (Fortunately, the questions were very easy; there were 8 questions and we had to answer at 5 of them)

The next subject is Geography -.-

----------------------------------------------

Good luck Anna Maria , and to all of you that you are "fighting" with the exams period. ^^

Posted by: mightymarty2 May 19 2009, 4:46 PM

yep, good luck to everyone

Posted by: Anna Maria May 19 2009, 5:06 PM

Physics for us today, ugh. And in two days *gulps* History...

Posted by: Winx4eva! May 20 2009, 3:53 PM

History is interesting... what are you studying about?

I hope you did well in your Physics!

Posted by: Anna Maria May 20 2009, 4:41 PM

Eh, I did kinda well. But no hopes for History. Byzantio... or whatever it's called. I don't know anything and I'm having the exams tomorrow. Now it is 7:41pm. As you may have understood, I will do very bad...

Posted by: Winx4eva! May 20 2009, 4:47 PM

Man, that sucks....

Maybe you should go offline and study for an half an hour...?

Posted by: Anna Maria May 20 2009, 4:52 PM

I went to study with my best friend. I was there from 5:30pm to 7pm. I felt like she spoke Chinese. History + me = total disaster.
I won't understand a thing, I'm too anxious and tired from all that anyway.
I just hope my dad won't be mad.

Posted by: Winx4eva! May 20 2009, 5:01 PM

Oh dear X_x
My tip is when you are sleeping, revise what you know.

*Me sleeping*

Hominids are early human....Africa is the cradle of human kind....zzzzzz...

Posted by: Anna Maria May 20 2009, 5:06 PM

What a nightmare! icon_razz.gif
I wish I knew something I could revise. We were given 30 questions and six of them will be on the exams. I only know the answers to three or four of them. I would say a bad word now but oh.
I just... don't understand a thing. My brain cannot understand anything. :'(
I will get a zero.

Posted by: humbu111 May 20 2009, 7:53 PM

[noguests]If its not working, I think its best if you just go to sleep, thats also equally important. [/noguests]

Posted by: Anna Maria May 20 2009, 8:06 PM

I'll go in ten minutes or so.
I hope I don't have any nosebleeds tomorrow, as I did yesterday. I had one before I go to school, and then another one while having the exams lol I was too anxious.

Posted by: humbu111 May 20 2009, 8:07 PM

[noguests]Oh, thats not good. I hope it doesnt happen. Good night and good luck :) [/noguests]

[noguests]So how did history go? [/noguests]

Posted by: Winx4eva! Jun 1 2009, 10:56 AM

Yeah...how did it go?

I just had my English Exam today! I think I'll be getting 70%-90%. The comprehension part was a little hard icon_razz.gif.

Tomorrow is Science...*revises* unlike magnets actractt....like magnets repel...an acid tastes sour...a base tastes bitter and feels slipperly....XD

Posted by: humbu111 Jun 1 2009, 7:54 PM

[noguests]I remember my science exam from last semester, it was intense! I think like less than half the people felt they had enough time. But in the end it raised my average by 3% so I was really happy. I swear like the highest mark in my class was 91% (I got 90). It was really hard! But I'm sure you'll do fine, you seem to know your stuff. [/noguests]

Posted by: Winx4eva! Jun 2 2009, 10:21 AM

Awesome Mark!

I just did it! It was pretty easy, it took me an hour and 15 minutes to finsh. But I learned to much things....so I knew everything. Studying for 5 hours really pays off...

Noo!! Tomorrow is isiZulu =( ...I am rather concerned about it...

Posted by: humbu111 Jun 2 2009, 8:07 PM

[noguests]Good luck, just believe in yourself, you'll do fine^^ [/noguests]

Posted by: Anna Maria Jun 2 2009, 8:18 PM

Wow, I thought I had told how history was. Oh well.
Well surprisingly it went good. I knew the questions, except one actually which answer I did not know so I used my fantasy and made up one icon_razz.gif
Tomorrow I'm having my religion exams. icon_razz.gif
Good luck w4e!
I believe you'll do well if you studied so much. I mean, five hours? The most time I ever studied for an exams was an hour or an hour and half. icon_razz.gif

Posted by: Winx4eva! Jun 3 2009, 10:58 AM

Glad it went alright!

The Zulu exam was...easy! I finshed an hour before we had to stop! That's a new record for me icon_smile.gif

Oh yeah, five-four hours.

I am happy that I have time to go on the computer now. After the exam which ends at 10:00am we can go home and study for the next one. I start to study at 12 or 1, then stop at 4/5/6. That means i have enough time to go on the computer! yay!

I love my new school!

Posted by: Anna Maria Jun 3 2009, 11:30 AM

[noguests]Good luck Mish and Mazei! Mine start week after next week *shudders* But I'm not too worried, I just know I'm gonna kill my average in French since its hard enough memorising so many vocab words/grammer rules for a unit test, but now having to know it all for one day is not my idea of fun. So glad I'll be done with French in less than 2 weeks.[/noguests]

Je vous souhaite bonne chance pour votre examen, et Humbu Della! I hope that you got a good mark for Mathematics Della.

I hope you got a fab mark too Addy!

I had so much fun at the movies with my friends, we watched Night at the Muesum 2! It was epic!

Ohhhh thank you for the bonne chance. Strangely, I understood everything in this sentence. icon_razz.gif
Hm, we have four lessons left... phew.

Posted by: humbu111 Jun 9 2009, 7:57 PM

[noguests]Lol thanx Mish^^ I understood almost all of that sentence. And surprisingly, the teacher literally gave us the answers for the questions we're gonna have to answer in the verbal exam o.O All thats left is to memorise it. (Its 35 questions and she said the answers really fast, so most people only got most of it copied down. But we help each other, so I'm sure anyone who cares will have all their answers ready^^) [/noguests]

Posted by: mightymarty2 Jun 9 2009, 8:16 PM

for GCSE german we got the questions and did are own answers then we got asked some of the questions and we had to remember the answers. Which i was terrible at

same to my friends, their exams will start on 19th june and will end on 26th june.

Posted by: humbu111 Jun 12 2009, 9:22 PM

My exams will be over on Wednesday. Today I had French listening, I did medium I guess compared to the others. Lol the teacher wouldnt repeat reading the questions, so if you missed any, you just have to guess, which happened to me a few times.

Posted by: Tom273 Jun 12 2009, 9:43 PM

congrats Mazei ^^ and good luck to everyone with your studies

Posted by: Winx4eva! Jun 18 2009, 4:13 PM

[noguests]Last semester I had tech to bring down my average (a totally messed up course, they stuff way too much into one semester), and this semester gym will. I hate how over here its not physically possible to get a good mark in gym, like no one ever gets 90's, and even 80's are really rare. I bet I'll get in the high 70's even though I'm definitely among the top in my class in most units. But ah well, its just grade 9.[/noguests]

Posted by: mightymarty2 Jun 22 2009, 9:49 AM

well at least you didn't go into you a levels and get told for IT the highest grade ever was a B and that was one person and that last year most people failed and a few got D's and E's, the uni i wanted to go to wanted 3 B's and did not except general studies for that course although it did for some and you still had to do it

Well I got all my exams back this term I got:

Music Composition (aka Music Theory, do it out of school): 99%
She marked me down for a "weak note", want does that even mean!!!!!!

French: 96%
It was an easy test, the top was like 99%

History: 93%
Top in the class wooohooo

Maths: 90%
And yet I came 11th out of 28 people

English: 85%
Just average mark for my class (all people in the top English class are so smart)

I hope you did well in your test Anna icon_smile.gif

That is what I thought at the start too but after I played what I wrote (I had to write a little melody), the specific not she underlined didn't sound off pitch or anything. Overall my 'composition' wasn't that great but that note didn't stand out in any way...oh well I guess the person who marked the exam paper is the expert.
