This is going to be so cool of course. I think Johnny Depp is going to be a wonderful Mad Hatter, no doubt about it.

Well the planned date is March 2010

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Oct 8 2009, 3:25 AM

*Claps* Ooh, that's the same month as the apparent Maximum Ride movie. It shall be a month of epic movies. XD

As a lifelong lover of anything Alice in Wonderland, I've been very excited about this ever since I heard about it XD Even if it does further validate my theory that there is an actual law in place that Tim Burton must include Johnny Depp in all his films.

Posted by: winxclub-joy Mar 6 2010, 2:35 PM

The Movie was pretty cool, especially when you watch it in HD 3D. I just watched it and I find it's awesome. The ending was fine, and the animation was stunning. But I kinda dislikes some part of the storyline, that's all.

I'm going to go see it tonight with my friends, and I must say, I'm so excited! \o/ The trailers make it look pretty good...Plus I love anything Tim Burton [...*cough*] so I hope I like it.

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Mar 7 2010, 11:01 PM

I thought it was um...well...

Not that amazing. In fact, I was quite disappointed.

Posted by: P-girl Mar 8 2010, 6:20 AM

Oh well, this WAS the movie where everyone got tired of the Burton-formula. And Burton is better with original work then he is with his re-imaginings. ((I wouldn't reccommend Planet of the Apes by him.))

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. The complaints I hear (Visuals over story, unfitting end) are things I usually seem to take for granted, anyway. Especially in a movie like this. (C'mon, admit it, were you expecting a smooth story? For as far as I know, Lewis Carroll himself made Alice in Wonderland up as he went along. Alice in Wonderland isn't interesting for the plot, but for the environment, the characters, the sheer atmosphere.)

Yeah, the thing is, the characters were there. Burton just didn't really do anything with them. I was expecting much more with Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum.

Posted by: {§hani™} Mar 9 2010, 7:40 AM

hehe im actually looking forward to helen bonham carters perfonace the most then Alan rickman followed by johny depp but man TIM BURTON ROCKS!

Posted by: Another Morning Mar 12 2010, 12:55 AM

XD I was actually the opposite. I went in not really expecting to like it too much but I really enjoyed it. The visuals were amazing and I thought all the characters were actually done well, in terms of keeping their personalities from the book.

Posted by: {§hani™} Mar 12 2010, 5:35 AM

yeah agreed. i loved the scruffy rabbit in the tea party scene. that scene overall was my favorite. As always Johnny depp gave a great performance.

Posted by: Ranma Mar 12 2010, 9:20 AM

Why were you expecting a lot out of character's that were barely fleshed out to begin with? I'm amazed that they included the Jabberwocky. It also looks really close to its original illustrations!
I thought the story was great. It is a sequel, not a retelling of the original. The only thing I'm sad about is that they never included the talking door nob.

Great movie, I loved it.

One word for my guys and gals. Ugh. thumbsdown.gif

The movie is not for everyone. It's a bit abstract on a lot of things. However, if you liked the original Alice in Wonderland (Not the disney version)... I think you'll like this one.
I think most people are going into it expecting something like the disney version.

The girl who played Alice did a good job.
Mad hatter was awesome.
Tweedle-dee and Teedle-dum were portrayed well
The jabberwocky was awesome.
The white queen was...good. I thought her mannerisms were funny.
The red queen was pretty good as well.

All of the characters were portrayed pretty well, and as P-girl said, it's all about the characters and atmosphere for this story.

Posted by: Another Morning Mar 13 2010, 8:07 AM

XD I loved the White Queen's little flouncy arms.

I did kind of wonder why Johnny Depp turned into an red-eyed Scotsman when he got angry, though.

Cheshire Cat was the best :'D He's always been my favorite.

Posted by: Ranma Mar 14 2010, 1:03 AM

I just thought it added to the hatter's character. I loved how he'd slip into the Scottish accent.
The Cheshire Cat was great.

Here be some spoilers

Well. I saw it, and I really liked it. It does suffer from the good old 'Side characters are so much more interesting then the main characters' thing I have with most movies (Go Hare! Go Dormouse! Go Cheshire Cat!). And they really should've went with the 'Less is more' thing regarding the Hatter's backstory..... (I mean, it worked for the Cheshire cat, only a few hints about the fact he Ditched (?) the others at an inopportune moment. So much more interesting.)

That being said, it had stunning visuals, my favorite portrayal of the Cheshire cat as of now. (Who is probably my favorite fictional character ever) and a simple, but compelling story. Thumbs up.
