Keke Palmer Will Star in “Ragz” and “Winx Club” on Nickelodeon

Keke Palmer, star of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP, will be starring in and producing Ragz, a music-oriented Nickelodeon teen movie, scheduled for a 2012 premiere. Palmer will also be providing the voice of Keisha in new episodes of Winx Club, which is also scheduled to premiere in 2012 on Nickelodeon. (*They are Referring to Season 5 maybe 6, if wondering.*)

Teen Star Keke Palmer to Shine in 2011 With New Interscope Album and Roles in an Upcoming TV Series and Three Films

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 11, 2011 — Interscope Recording artist and award-winning actress Keke Palmer just may be the busiest 17-year-old girl in America in 2011. Establishing herself as one of the fastest rising stars of her generation, Palmer will continue to star in the title role of the Nickelodeon sitcom “True Jackson, VP” while simultaneously shooting a movie musical, producing and starring in a second feature film, and performing voiceover characters in both a major animated motion picture and a new animated television series. Additionally, in anticipation of her sophomore album which Interscope will release later this year, Keke has already produced a video for her song “The One You Call.”

The three-time NAACP Image Award winner and Kids’ Choice Award nominee for Favorite TV Actress is currently filming Joyful Noise starring Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton and Palmer. Keke plays the daughter of Latifah in the story centered on a small-town gospel choir. She will also be featured on the soundtrack for the movie from the Blindside producers scheduled for release via Warner Bros. in early 2012. For Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth film in the blockbuster Ice Age animated series from Fox, set for summer 2012, Palmer will voice the role of Peaches, a young woolly mammoth. Also on tap Ragz, a music-oriented Nickelodeon teen movie, that Keke is both starring in and producing, which is targeted for a 2012 premiere.

In addition, she will record this year the voice of Keisha, one of the magical fairies in the Nickelodeon animated action and fantasy series “Winx Club,” a hugely popular franchise with young girls worldwide that will debut in 2012 with new episodes in the U.S. Set in the mystical dimension of Magix where three schools educate modern fairies, witches and supernatural warriors from around the universe, “Winx Club” first aired in Italy six years ago and became an international phenomenon.

Palmer’s breakthrough portrayal of Akeelah Anderson in the sleeper hit Akeelah and The Bee won her an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture in 2006. In 2010, she won for the second time for Best Actress in a Children’s Television Show for “True Jackson, VP.” Keke Palmer remains in the record books as the youngest actor to ever be nominated by the Screen Actors Guild in a lead actor category.

So what do you all think? I'm not sure if a new character named, Keisha will be part of the Winx Club as an 8th Fairy right after Roxy??

For some reasons, the name is similar to Aisha (Italian Name) as Layla? I don't know, just thinking. ^^"
Oh this got me curious if Keke Palmer is voicing Keisha? Could it be that there will be another African American so Layla is not the only one? I'm not quite sure, we have to wait. xD

I'm surprised that Nick choose Keke Palmer as a New Actress for a New Voice of Keisha for Season 5 (Maybe Season 6). I'm sure she will do good, hope so since I have to get use to the new changes. Wonder if the other Winx Club and Characters will be younger Actresses or Actors? (Hope Nick choice the right voice for each characters) I hope they could get the voices like 4kids.tv Since it will take time to get use to the changes. ^^"

Thats interesting, though I think I will reserve judgement until I see her action. My concern is that its going to give us less chance of finding out more with the current winx Tecna especially.

I am also curious about will Roxy disappear from the main story.

Its a shame they don't rather than adding characters develop the existing ones like Galatea

Whoaa wasnt expecting that! Its pretty random, but this news has me excited for season 5 lol. This is I think the first official information about the actual season right, like other than just when its gonna air and things? I hope we get pics soon, it would give us a good hint on whether Keisha will be the eighth fairy or what =O

Not sure about Roxy, but I heard she is going to be in Season 5.
That's right, but the Winx already graduated Alfea. Wonder if Roxy will go to school there, they will show us the characters we missed, maybe. Besides the Winx are teachers of the day? Don't know if they will do it again.
Just gotta wait till Season 5 comes. ^_^

I highly doubt they would change Layla's name (except to Aisha for continuity for all versions)

I feel like she's probably playing a re-named Aisha, as opposed to a new fairy. Keisha is closer to Aisha than Layla was, but it's still less...stereotypical than Aisha is. it would be cool to see another black winx fairy though!

I kind of hope they recast the rest of the winx girls with other nickelodeon stars. I can see Victoria Justice as Bloom or Tecna, maybe even Roxy. iCarly would make a good Musa. I'm dreaming of Amanda Bynes returning to nick and voicing someone too...lol

To lalande: I don't know about Tecna. =/ We have to see when we watch Season 5. The New Character might be talk about in Season 5 though just like they did with Roxy and Layla (well short of in Season 2).

To Winx4Eva!, RenaEnchantix: Yeah, I thought the same thing too, but I don't think it's Layla (Just hope they don't change her name, Layla is fine). Though, the year says 2012? So they are referring to Season 5 since they confirmed that Season 5 and 6 are coming in 2012.

Series 1 to 4 are suppose to arrive this year, but still don't know the release date yet. No commercial from Nick yet. ^^" Still checking everyday.

Yeah, heard about it in the other topic. That's why we are waiting for the Full Magical Adventure English Sub soon. ^_^ We will find out for sure. =)
Hm, I don't think it's alittle confusing with the commercials issue. They just aired 4 Brand New Shows. So I'm still waiting. I'm sure Winx Club is coming out this year. =) Just don't know what month yet. They said Spring....but there were rumors saying it's coming Next Month? But I don't see the commercial yet. ^^"

You aren't the only one. I seen other Winx Fans were complaining that Keke Palmer...well, they hope that she won't ruin the show if her voice is bad....(we hadn't seen the new season yet.)

I'd rather have them develop the older characters than introduce new ones. Again. A lot of the older ones have been left behind, it'll be a waste to simply leave them there. But i suppose it could be because US will be getting season 5 earliest and maybe a lot of ppl there haven't heard of winx before, and putting in new characters will turn it into a somewhat 'new' series of episodes. After all, since maybe the ppl there don't really know about it, bringing characters from season 1 etc may be confusing if they havent caught the 1st 4 seasons. (Correct me if i'm wrong cause i'm assuming that US gets winx episodes late)

But alas, we mere mortals can only make our assumptions and predictions about how season 5 will turn out. For now, let's wait and see what the people at nick and rainbow can construct.
