Nope. Not true. That being said, it's pretty clear things have been put on the back burner to focus on other games and most updates have been rather small. Last Content Update was April 1st and in spirit of that, it was a 'Find out yourself' sort of deal. Which took a few weeks. It had several new, somewhat smaller non-story missions, one for a new pet and one to get the 'Tank Blade' item that manymanyMANY people were asking for to the point it was a meme. There's also the 'Rosenbrawl' which is some sort of PvP.... thing. (I admit I don't look into that. Not a PvP-er) and Shambala now has 5 v 5 matches instead of 10 v 10. That being said, since it's not story, it's one of those updates where people go 'That doesn't count', which I, personally, think is somewhat unfair. Heck, the aspect of people figuring out what to do was a ton of fun and very in the spirit of the game. (I get like that when people go 'This game is dead' as well. Makes me want to go all Morpheus from the Matrix and shout 'WE ARE STILL HERE!')
Also, the Anniversary is coming up and I'm thinking that has some new stuff. And if not, it gives me the chance to get some more Canine Custodians. (It's my fave pet but it's kinda hard to get so I have it on, like, one alt.)
And speaking of 'That doesn't count'... There's 'The Moons of Madness'. An upcoming, separate game that's taking place in the same Universe, kinda like 'The Park'. Just made by another studio. It's Filth. In SPAAAAAAACE.

While Maintenance Mode is always a worry, Funcom never outright shut down a game. The original Secret World is still online. Heck, Anarchy Online is still, well, online. And that's from 2001. So while the stopping of content is a real worry, the actual shutting down is not. (Unless Funcom shuts down itself but I don't see that happening any time soon.) I know that's cold comfort for some, but in a world where games get shut down when there's even the barest hint of trouble, it's nice to see a company still running the servers of what the public would call 'Dead' games.
