I guess with the investigation they didn't find anything. Whatever, but I still believe that they are under 16. I mean just look at all the other chinese women athletes and you can tell they are of age, but when you look at the gymnasts, they look so young. I really don't think it is just the "asian" build that makes them look so young (that was one of their excuses), but whatever. They did earn the gold medals, but if they're younger that does give them an unfair advantage in the competition since they're younger and more flexible than say Alicia Sacramone (sp?) (she's like 20 or 21). I don't think China won the olympics, I think the total medal count should be the thing that counts because it is still good if you got silver or bronze, you beat out tons of other people to get that spot so it should count for something.

yeah, silver is great icon_mrgreen.gif can you imagine how I would act if Iceland would have got the gold? it doesn't matter. by the way, when we beated spain and earned a spot on the gold match, we were a big news material in scandinavia, and even around the world because we were the smallest country ever getting so far icon_biggrin.gif

Awesome, congratulations Ditta!

Olympics are over for this year =(.

As for the closing ceremony, I loved the London bit! The psychedelic-ness, the Broadway style, the crazy outfits: I loved it! I know the Chinese put tons of money and pride into their opening and closing ceremony, but even though England's was much simpler I think I liked it better. Too much pomp and circumstance turns me off sometimes. But I did like the tribute to the ancient Greek games with the chalk colored Chinese performers. Oh, and the human Olympic torch--that was very cool. It also looked like a sea anemone =P. Looks like there's still a bit more to go (since the US doesn't get to watch until tonight). Oh my *insert religious figure here*--Jackie Chan! I've heard him sing before, but that is so flipping awesome that he was in the ceremony!!

Now I will look forward to attending the next Winter Olympics...um, maybe? ^^

Aw, I can't believe the Olympics are over! Now we have to wait another four years!

Oh, and Humbu, my bad, the two medals were in boxing and wrestling.

Are you serious? Well...screw my chances of going. I was going to save at least for a year before buying tickets and such. =(

I missed the ending ceremony too >_< It felt like the Olympics went by quickly...

By the way, did anyone else catch the rhythmic gymnastics portion of the Olympics? I always like watching that; it makes me wish I was that talented. icon_razz.gif That and gymnastics (it amazes me how well most of the competitors did this year) O_O
Speaking of gymnastics, did anyone catch the tie between Nastia Liukin (US) and He Kexin (China)? I am still in wonder as to why they just didn't let them both take gold home...

I very much agree on the tie thing. The tie breaking rules were ambiguous and unfounded. They may as well have just flipped a coin. I say don't bother with tie-breaking rules and just give them both a well deserved gold medal.

I'm going to try to download it too when it goes on a torrent or youtube, that's going to be great. Not sure what channel it would be on in England? In the US it's on our local NBC channel.

O_O That should be... interesting? What date? (he he, I might forget if it's more then a week from now though. icon_razz.gif)

I totally agree, Zhanneel. I think I've heard that they used to just give out gold medals to both of those who tied years ago, but the rules changed since then, (I personally think it made no sense to change them to be honest).

I believe Phelps will be on the September 13th SNL, so about 2 weeks. I haven't watched SNL for a few years (since it got a little lame), but this makes me want to watch it again.
