Posted by: mightymarty2 Aug 28 2007, 6:11 PM

Me too

Posted by: darkar Aug 28 2007, 6:20 PM

i agree with the rules
can i ask a question?
while you are charging if you change your position then does it means that you lose charges?

Posted by: melgirl1778 Aug 28 2007, 6:22 PM

if you move magicly, you do, or you lose some of it, depending on how you move, but if you just run or walk, you cant charge more, but you dont lose the energy.

Posted by: John Aug 28 2007, 6:31 PM

Is it me or is that alot of writing.
Anyway, I've got a question.
Can a character hold a charge for more than one post ?

Posted by: melgirl1778 Aug 28 2007, 6:33 PM

not sure what you mean.

Posted by: John Aug 28 2007, 6:36 PM

If your finished charging, Would you be able to hold the charge for more than one post ?

Posted by: melgirl1778 Aug 28 2007, 6:38 PM

still not sure what you mean

Posted by: darkar Aug 28 2007, 6:42 PM

are you trying to say that after charging completes can you carry it for more than one post?

Posted by: John Aug 28 2007, 6:45 PM

Yes, that's what I mean.

Posted by: P-girl Aug 28 2007, 6:46 PM

I understands what he means, but I can't answer. John means if you can 'save up' a charge you did for later use. I doubt it..... but I don't know for sure.

Good rules by the way. Some are awfully familiar, kinda like the rules of fanfiction, only more focussed on interraction.

Posted by: John Aug 28 2007, 6:48 PM

At least someone understands what I said.

Posted by: melgirl1778 Aug 28 2007, 6:50 PM

only if you dont use any magical attacks, or teleport. you can do stuff like stand there but you cant use any energy. does that answer your question?

Posted by: John Aug 28 2007, 6:54 PM

Can your character walk/run during the period of time.

Posted by: P-girl Aug 29 2007, 6:53 PM

Maybe not a rule, but I came across this term called 'Winking', which is basically giving your characters powers they hadn't have without warning or training. Kinda like *Poof* and he/she has a new power. (Which most of the time is the power he/she needs to overcome a certain enemy at the time. How convenient. [/sarcasm])
I think it's fair to say this should be a rule:

No winking

Posted by: John Aug 29 2007, 6:57 PM

You mean like one moment the character doesn't have for example thunder power then the next second they do without any sort of event to explain where the power came from ?

Posted by: P-girl Aug 29 2007, 7:01 PM

Yeah. The characters can of course deserve them trough training and meditation, or in the case of Winx Club, learn new once when they reach Enchantix, for example.

Posted by: John Aug 29 2007, 7:02 PM

I understand that.

Posted by: P-girl Aug 29 2007, 7:04 PM

Okay, so, agree with this rule?

Posted by: John Aug 29 2007, 7:08 PM

Yes, since it's rather unfair for someone to happen to have new powers pop up any second without any sort of event.

Posted by: P-girl Aug 29 2007, 7:11 PM

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they can't have attacks before hand, just give a just explanation in their bio. For example; In the Fairy homecoming RP, there are several Specialists and Fairies who've graduated, which means they do know how to fight and/or do magic pretty well.

Posted by: John Aug 29 2007, 7:13 PM

Let's see if anyone else agrees but yes I understand what you mean.

Might I suggest a few possible additions? These are rules from a few other RPing communities I've been in.

- Be a reliable player. By looking at the post times in an RP, you should be able to determine how active it is. If people post several times a day, and you're only on once or twice a week, you probably shouldn't join that RP. It isn't fair to the other players if they have to sit around and wait until the next time you get online. If you absolutely must join, then make a character that isn't vital to the plot so that the others can carry on when you're not around. Of course, things like vacations or computer failure don't count, as long as you warn the others in your group if you can.

-As sort of a continuation of the previous rule, don't just drop out of an RP. If you're not sure if you want to take part or not, make a character that can be easily written out and don't involve them too deep into the plot. Then, if you decide that the RP isn't for you, you can gracefully bow out without messing up the plot. If you do decide that you want to continue, then you can get your character more involved, or make a different one. If you decide later on that wait, you don't want to be in the RP after all, then wait until the action has calmed down. Leaving in the middle of an event that your character is vital for isn't fair to the other players.

-If you want to join an RP that is already in progress, read the topic first. If it's a really long topic, then at least read the last two or three pages to get a feel for whats going on. If even that is just too boring for you, then the RP probably isn't for you. Also, ask permission of the other players, instead of barging in without warning. They might be doing something that they just can't fit other people into at the moment. Which also means that even if you get permission, you shouldn't just jump in whenever. Wait for a plausible time. If all the characters are fighting a big climactic battle, it wouldn't make sense for your new character to wander in and ask what's going on. Wait for breaks in the action to introduce your character.

*coughcough* Alright, I'm done. >.>;;

Good point.

Posted by: Administrator Nov 8 2007, 5:54 AM

Pinned topic and edited the rules.

Posted by: Camilleon Nov 8 2007, 6:50 PM

What happened to all the RPs??

Posted by: P-girl Nov 8 2007, 7:04 PM

Nothing, now they just appear in the order they are created. It happens when a sub-board gets a 'pinned' topic.

Posted by: Candyiz789 Nov 27 2007, 3:04 PM

I totally agree!

Posted by: BloomKianna Mar 20 2008, 9:21 PM

One more thing, I don't get the 'SAVE' thingy?

Posted by: vegeta002 Oct 12 2008, 3:51 PM

Would a specialist still be at Red fountain by 19?

Posted by: P-girl Oct 12 2008, 3:52 PM

Probably.... wanna roleplay as one? And why's age so important? (Just asking.....) This is roleplay! You can be anyone you want, at any age you want.

Posted by: vegeta002 Oct 12 2008, 3:56 PM

I usually prefer rp characters that are the same age as me. I'm making a profile for a specialist, if the specialsts start at the same age as fairies then 19 would be a third year student.

Posted by: P-girl Oct 12 2008, 3:57 PM

Oh, okay, I see. Sorry about that, I can get a bit....odd like that. Hope I didn't offend you or anything.

Yeah, third year sounds about right.

Posted by: Jahnavi Oct 12 2008, 4:00 PM

I replied in your thread, Vegeta. You can check that too, if you want.

Posted by: Bloomwinxmagic Jun 11 2009, 3:49 PM

,,SAVED?'' what is that? blush.gif

Posted by: LexiBabyGirl Jan 16 2010, 4:54 AM

i dissagree with alot of this. The rps we make are OURS we should be able to choose what the posting limit is on our rps. Most people CANT write 2 paragraphs every post, either because they arent feeling creative enough or whatever they may be busy with.

Godmodding, in most cases isnt acceptable, but i think if it needs to happen to go with a specific plot that the writer has discussed then let it be!

Each writer has their own rules for their own rp, i just think its unfair.

With most of the Rp's on the site you dont HAVE or NEED to write 2 paragraphs. Most are like 3 sentences

Posted by: mightymarty2 Jan 16 2010, 8:06 AM

Most rules about length are decided by the owner of the role play normally you can post as much as you want.

Also some role plays need certain rules to make them work

Posted by: P-girl Jan 16 2010, 9:13 AM

These are just some standard rules to help people get started, and then they can see which one they think is neccesary to follow. I, myself am a huge opponent of the 'Complete paragraph' rule. It opens gateways for purple prose and totally unnessecary stuff to be said. I don't mind depth, but for people who have a to-the-point kind of posting, it's not fair.
