The animated avatar or the regular avatar. cause the regular avatar is pretty simple but here: 1. Go to your 'Pictures' and right click on the picture you want and click on 'Edit with GIMP'. The program will open with your picture.
2. Most forum avatar are 100x100 so if the picture is bigger then we are going have to resize and/or cut off parts. -to cut off some parts, go to 'Image' then 'Canvas Size'. Just mess around to get what part of the picture you want. (Click the chain icon so you can put excatly what size you want it. cause if you don't it will chose the size for you and it will just mess it up.) -To resize it, simply go to 'Image' then 'Scale Image' and put what size you want.(again you have to click the chain icon to put the number you want cause it will adjust the size for you and might mess up the picture)
3. Now we decorate it! Chose the brush icon to put designs on it. (you can download design and brushes from deviantART) Play around to make different design or get whatever you want on it. To put text on it. Go to the text icon(which is mostly the 'A' icon) and put whatever text you want. On the Layer dock, right click the text and click 'merge down'. if you don't do this, the outline box around the text won't go away.
4. Saving your work of art. Just 'File' then 'Save As' and give it a name. the file type it should be save as is PNG or JPEG. Then 'save' or if something comes up with 'export' then click 'export'. everything else click okay or save.
I tried my best to make it simple cause yea that tutorials has a lot of steps and can confuse some people, like me. ^_^. if you have any question, just ask.
