Magix Club's Forum _ Study Groups _ Got Mid-Year Exam in May

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 6 2007, 3:10 AM

1 more month till my Mid-Year Exam, oh man I hate it. I have to listen to teachers' boring topic again. Sometimes I really don't get what my teachers mean, they just made us cpoy question in our notebook thats all. But I managed to cope up my Computer Appications and science as one of my friend helped me. But still need help in Elements of Office Adminstration, English, science and Maths. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP ME ON THESE SUBJECTS??? T.T

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 6 2007, 3:19 AM

Ohh, harsh. I think I can probably help you out with English.

Posted by: Ranma Apr 6 2007, 3:38 AM

English is my best subject as well -_-

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 6 2007, 3:43 AM

Oh thank you guys.....

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 6 2007, 3:51 AM

I might be able to help in the others as well, but no promises. (I wouldn't ask me about science, actually, it doesn't agree with me very well.)

Posted by: Ranma Apr 6 2007, 3:58 AM

I'll answer any questions you have, and if I don't know I'll probably look it up. I'm pretty good at research.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 6 2007, 4:10 AM

Yeah, I think we're both promising to try to be as helpful as possible.

Posted by: Ranma Apr 6 2007, 4:13 AM

Yeah, but math is my enemy. I had a really bad teacher in highschool, so the basic foundation wasn't laid down too well. I had to teach myself.

I'm a helper ^_^

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 6 2007, 4:26 AM

I'm okay at math. Not great, not terrible, but I will warn you that I haven't taken Algebra in a few years.

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 6 2007, 5:55 AM

Well I just need help on bearing, graphs etc etc

Posted by: Twinkle Toes Apr 6 2007, 2:37 PM

winxclub-joy: how old/what grade are you in? I probably can't help very much if you are way older than me. icon_wink.gif

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 6 2007, 3:20 PM

What do you need help with exactly? Like...what kinds of problems? Or what are your questions?

Posted by: Abby Apr 6 2007, 5:40 PM

well i can't be a big help in math, im not that good at it but you can ask me math problems if you do need help with them.

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 7 2007, 3:17 AM

I am sec 4 this year, 15 years old

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 7 2007, 3:50 AM

Can you give us a specific example of something you need help with?

Posted by: Abby Apr 7 2007, 3:55 AM

well I am only in Algebra One this year so I don't know how much help i could give then...

Bearing, Graphs, Algebraic fractions and fractional equations

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 7 2007, 4:11 AM

Uh...that's not very specific... I mean like actual examples of problems you're having trouble with.

Posted by: Abby Apr 7 2007, 4:14 AM

what are you doing in algebra?? we were just doing scientific notation (thats really easy) but we are doing something else now i don't remember what though..

mine is for E-maths, maybe its a bit different.

Posted by: stargazer Apr 7 2007, 9:26 PM

well i like skool but i hate studies and hw. lol besides skool can be fun. think about gym and field trips, but u know my mom was a science teacher and she taught me science for 2 years!!!

Posted by: Firepower Apr 8 2007, 12:08 AM

I'm in Pre Calc right now I might be able to help you but no promises (I don't even know what some of those things you mentioned are because in my state they might be called something else). I'm also taking a physics/ chemistry class and have a 105% in the class so just ask if you need anything (hate math and science, too logical, but I do retain much information)

Posted by: DuelMasterP Apr 8 2007, 12:18 AM

I studied maths and physics for A level (That's what we do between 16 and 18 in the UK) so I might be able to help with maths and science.

What part of each of those topics are you struggling with? I'll try to give a summary of everything I remember about what you've listed so far... (Our syllabus is likely to be different from yours...) Feel free to shout at me if I'm writing at the wrong level. (I have no idea what the American levels are like...)

Bearings: Angle measured in degrees clockwise from due North. EG: 270 degrees would be due West.

Graphs:
*The X axis (horizontal) is normally the variable that you can change (eg. temperature of a room) and the Y axis (vertical) depends on the x axis (eg. how thirsty the people inside get)
*Use your ruler when plotting the points. You might get the wrong line on the paper without realising, making the graph shift in strange ways.
*Remember to put labels and units on the axis. In the example I used before, I'd probably use Celsius (or Fahrenheit) for the X axis (temperature) and "How many bottles of water each person drinks" for the Y axis.

Algebra: (The stuff you'll only use if you become a mathematician or a programmer.)
*When looking at equations and functions, see if you can get rid of anything. EG: in 3X + Y^2 = 3X + 9 (^2 is squared) you can remove the "3X" from both sides because they cancel out.
*Make sure you never divide by 0, or anything that might be 0. EG: XY = X does not mean that Y = 1... If X is 0, then Y can be any number you can dream of...

Posted by: fullmoon Apr 14 2007, 9:33 PM

Math can be easy and hard for me. Matters what kind. I don't like dealing with geometry though it can be sometimes easy. One time I thought it was easy (WOW)! I like literature the best or reading. I'm not good at grammar though.

Posted by: mightymarty2 Apr 16 2007, 11:04 AM

Maths is not the hardest it is easily a languages thank goodness I dropped them for this year

I am in Year 12.
When I was in grade 6 I hated maths. I was always last to finish.
But I was prity good at high school.
However I dropped maths last year.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
PE is NOT fun. To who ever said that. It is evil and must die!!!
I dropped that as so as I could. but mind you I never brought my gear to school for like 3 years prior. We have mean people at our school. GSSC sux

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 22 2007, 1:20 PM

I was very good at maths in middle school, but in high school I started having some troubles with PreCalc. I was great at Geometry and okay at Statistics, but those Algebra-based maths...not so much. However now, I'm taking Probability and Statistics and it's quite easy. I'm doing rather well.

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 25 2007, 9:03 AM

You can kill me on my maths. I am okay with my English but I don't know why these few days, teachers said that my English Oral is getting worser as I use too much American slang. So I am trying to get used on british English but it was like....... Never mind.
My chinese i don't even give a damm as I hate that subject and know that I forever won't pass my chinese oral.
Elements of Office adminstration was very hard but managed to passed.
But Computer Appicaitions, i hate multimedia presentation, it sucks like hell >.<
Science, I have no problem with practical but sucks at Theory >.<

God are now touturing us..........

Hah. I'm done with school. In the Netherlands you'll have a sort of junior high and then you can go to three levels. I had the lowest level which we call VMBO, the other levels are HAVO(middle class) and there is VWO (that's the highest one). In the VMBO there are more levels, and in the last class of junior high they said that I had to do the lowest level of the VMBO that is the lowest of the lowest. I toook some tests in the beginning of the year after junior high and the result was that I was good enough for the Highest level of the VMBO. So I did than and now four years later I've had my final exams and I had the highest ratings of my whole school happy.gif And I'm going to do HAVO because I can.

From Leentje with love wub.gif

Ok I've got another exams coming, which is N level (Give by official Cambridge school) And Now I'm having my prelim exam (Which is another big exam) and I got a feeling that I will fail my maths and science again. cuz maths paper 1 was hard till I want to tear the paper, maths paper 2 I have no time to complete the graph so I just drew a U shape. Then science paper 1 was okok, paper 2 I wanna cry, paper 3 okok too......If I fail my maths and science for N level I really can't get in to the courses I like (Digital Animations), instead I can't find a proper job in future. This time I really need help, HELP HELP!~
