6x02-03: The Legendarium Options

Back in the good old days of the 4Kids dub, I once received a list of comments from a fellow fan on improving season 3. One of those comments was "Don't introduce something as big as a new school and then ignore it", referring to the whole Beta Academy issue. Well, this week's hour-long adventure, which sees the Winx head to a new school, should somewhat appease viewers who felt that to be a sticking point...

(Since both episodes are bundled together under a single slot in Zap2It, I've decided to make a single post for them as well.)

Zap2It summary:
The fairies of Alfea celebrate Faragonda's 100th anniversary; the Trix take over Cloudtower with the help of a new witch with a very powerful book.

...so after just reading that summary, not yet seeing the episode, I'm going to wager that fairies live longer than people do. If not, then dang, Faragonda. Looking good for your age.

To Teagan: You should watch it. The summary isn't clear enough. They celebrated Ms. Faragonda's 100 years of teaching/headmistress.

I really love the episode! I'm quite confuse if this is really a 1 hour episode? There were suppose to be 26 episodes for 30 minutes each. Unless we're down with 25 episodes? To me I still see 2 episodes in 1 hour. Hope we see it from other countries when they air Season 5 and see how they air.

I love that they introduced Roxy and Miele again! Miele's transformation is adorable. The Specialists and the other group (Forgot the name) were great!
Nice change for the Trix as they finally got their new permeant witch forms.
I'm glad they fix the voice of Selina. The preview of her on YouTube was terrible.
I'm happy that the Pixies are back, but I'm SO DISAPPOINTED that Tune and Digit are not in the show! =( They did not explain how Cherie and Caramel got bonded with Musa and Tecna. (Did they explain it in Pop Pixie? I had not seen the full episodes....and I'm quite surprise they did not use their PopPixie powers?) I really hope they show or explain what happen to Tune and Digit. =(

I can't wait to hear more about the Winx's new transformation. That looks interesting!

Ok. This season seems to be starting off as an improved version of Season 3. This episode was amazing, the script, the characters, everything. We saw Flora's sister transform and fight, Roxy had a speaking role.


All the girls lost their powers except for Bloom. When Bloom asks why she didn't lose her powers, Faragonda explains that it is because her powers come from the inextinguishable Dragon Flame. Bloom gives pieces of her Dragon Flame Power to the girls in forms of crystals. Faragonda basically says that the girls must work hard with the crystals in order to obtain a new power. I assume that this is why the power is called Bloomix, it comes from Bloom's Dragon Flame crystals.

This epsiode was great, love everything and can wait for new transformations and this only epsiode 2 and next one will be when it comes back on ugh stupid nick

Yeah The whole pixie thing was weird. I know Digit got a sex change, did the same happen with Tune. At least pixies and Limphea fairies put up much better fights than the selkies.

So far I'm very pleasantly surprised. This looks like it's going to leagues ahead of Season 5.

So some thoughts:

The headmistresses/headmasters of the schools must be much older than we've thought in the past, since Faragonda is at LEAST 119 year old, if she started teaching maybe right after she graduated. And then Griffin mentioned she hadn't seen anything like the Legendarium in over 2 centuries. Horrid continuity in regards to the ages they were when they fought in the Company of Light, but Winx has never been one for continuity.

The whole pixies thing has been discussed. I doubt we're going to get any explanation, because again with the poor continuity.

In the second episode, I hate how they just slipped in Roy like he's been a member of their squad forever. Like. Really. Does he even have to be included? In season 1, Riven mentioned requesting a transfer to another squad of specialists, so it's not like they are short of them. But of course he has to flit about so a relationship can be forced on him and Layla/Aisha.

You would think after being best friends for at least 6 years now, probably more, Sky would have mentioned his cousin to Brandon. And even so, how the heck did the girls know who he was? I imagine he tells Brandon way more than he tells them.

I really love how Flora's sister is going to another college instead of Alfea. It makes for some really nice realism, and feels like she had a choice.

And finally. Bloom. Bloom, Bloom, Bloom. Don't you know better by now not to question when stuff doesn't happen to you, or you're different than everyone else? I mean sheesh, it's been happening that way for 6 years, just roll with the punches.

Actually, that doesn't have to be. I mean, before this, we never got their exact age. Not to mention, we don't know how old they were when they were in the company of light, just that they looked younger. For all we know, they might've pulled an 'Elven age' on us and looked much younger then they actually are.

Well I liked the 2 episodes

Episode 2 was a little strange with the pixies looking older yet chatta seemed to have barely changed. Along with the mentioned change by other members. It actually felt like an older style winx season. I am also please how the stories were not straight into more classic and well know stories. Yes Trolls and Troll like creatures are common and have appeared in many winx seasons. I think this is the 4th but it was a new way of looking at it.

Episode 3 with Roxy getting her bit part I just hoped that she would get the info from Ms Griffin and then try and inform the winx rather than the sort of knowing but waiting for the winx. It also appears that Miele is a lot older than I thought as she seems to be an awful lot older. As I am assuming its the same age bracket as Alfea about 15/16 start. The Bloom being different is over done. I do hope the Winx don't become reliant on Bloom's powers and we get to see the Specialists have at least 3 episodes of being more useful than the winx. Most probably helped by these more powerful weapons. I hope we get to see some Red Fountain.

As for the general story I am liking the pace so far. It feels like things are moving along nicely, I am hoping for more build up and training of Selena. Although I don't believe the Trix will train her too much and will most probably try and get the legendarium off her.

As for Roy I feel he is being forced into the specialists as I am hoping Aisha remains single but I cannot see it. At least they are not forcing it too much so far.

Another plus was the bit of humour with Stella shouting to Brandon when they arive at the arena

Once last thing Selena was scared stiff off the Winx yet compared to the rest of witches entirely unbothered by the appearance of the Trix.

The way that Bloom delivery the flame is somewhat abrupt.

And... why are the winx on Alfea again? they would be teachers like the last time ( 4 season )? Special studies?
The guionists could be more lavish. A couple of phrases could be enough to imagine a lot of thinks about the "story behind the story".
A good story should have more background imagined that writed to be consistent with the details and allow to say a lot with little.

I hope that we know about Mirta. As the witches (not only the Trix) could be involved deeply in this session, we could bind out that Mirta is the first in centuries to be a complete "witch & fairy", capable of dominate dark and light power at the same time.

Sorry that I'm late to the party, but anyways:

@Teagan and dreamywinxgirl94: There's been precedent concerning the idea of FG and Griffin being really old, although in the 4K version and rather implied: 1x17 has FG telling Griffin "You and I haven't sat together since the summer of '08" (the ep was dubbed in '04). So I'm not so surprised at the idea of FG teaching for 100 years, but Griffin teaching for 200? HUH.

As for Digit and Tune's replacements: While I can (somewhat) understand wanting to replace Digit as Tecna's bonded pixie (and this is coming from a fan of these two characters), I have no idea why they'd replace Tune, seeing that she's still a female character in the PopPixie canon. And there are the obvious other issues as well.

Digit is a boy.The name tell's it.I think they replaced them because in pop pixie Caramel and Cherry are in the main cast like Chatta,Lockette and Amore.
Episode 3 for me is the best so far in the season.The floral outfits are so cool and the sharing of the dragon flame also(great sacrifice).Wait a minute sacrifice Bloom didn't in season 3 now in season 6 did.

Digit is NOT a boy.
I don't know about Pop Pixie, but in Season 2 of Winx, it's CLEARLY stated that all the Pixies are female.
Also, Digit? Pretty gender neutral name. The joints in your fingers are called digits.

It seems that the Pop Pixie Universe has merged with the Winx Universe as of Season 6. I don't know why they gave Digit a sex change in Poppixie. By the way I wonder when the US will get that show.
