Right of the bat, let me warn you:
I HATE Fairy Dust. It's a solve all, end-all Deus Ex Machina that abuses the vague description to pull off everything the plot requires.

I mean, all I really know is that it dispells Dark Magic.

Fair enough, but they use it To. Darn. Much. It removes all conflict from the story, and makes everything to darn easy.
Oh No! The Black Willow's cursed!
Fairy Dust!
Oh no! Sky's under Valtor's control!
Fairy Dust!
Oh No! We have to close a portal before it destroys the dimension of Andros!
Fairy Du- okay, that scene was actually a legitimately gripping scene, and a pretty good use. (And it had conflict. I mean, Tecna still died/got teleported to the Omega Dimension)

What is your opinion on this?

I think fairy dust is alright, it's cool. But i agree it's kinda wacky and too 'useful' sometimes.

I wouldn't have that much of a problem with it if it wasn't so overused and described so vaguely it's an answer to just about anything. I mean, dispelling magic.... kinda cool, I guess.

I dont see what all this hating on fairy dust is about, its a new element in the show to make it more interesting. And the reason they use it so often is cause its useful. Like in countering darkness? Its the ultimate defence against it, and since there's plently of darkness in Winx with the witches and Baltor and all, its used quite often.

Also, along with using it to fight darkness, (eg when the trix got their disenchantixes) and win against darkness (not necessarily just dark magic, the witches werent using dark magic at the time, they simply represented darkness in general, it can be used to heal wounds inflicted by dark magic. Eg Layla's sight taken away by Baltor. Or Galatea's wings? Not healing, much? I didnt think so. BURN.

Furthermore, fairy dust can be used in other situations involving combatting darkness, eg putting out the fire Darcy set in the library, and like already mentioned, closing the Omega Portal. In conclusion, fairy dust is very useful.

But that's just my problem with it. It's EVERYWHERE. I don't mind usefull spells, but in Season 3 it was Fairy Dust, Fairy Dust, Fairy Dust! I want some variety, some effort. And no, cutesy animations and fluttering your wings is NOT effort.

if thats the case then yo must not like almost every magical girl cartoon, because alot of them have the same concept I..E sailor moon...if it wasnt her tiara then it was her ceptor...

I liked Season 1 and Season 2. This might very well be a good reason. It leaves room for conflict, development. I mean, the whole 'Monster Stella'-thing was a nice bit of character development for her. It didn't get handed to her, she had to really change and face an unpleasant side of herself.

Never mind. I just don't like Fairy Dust. I stated my reasons. It's my opinion.

Or maybe they just tried to much.

But this is just opinion-territory. For me, Season 3 was trying to hard, trying to incorporate to many storylines and falling flat in the second act because of it. And everything was solved way too easy..... with Fairy Dust.

it is very powerful but its not easy to get enchantix so a lot of fairies will never use it and so it kind of balances out

That's..... a fact that's never been actually proven. If graduating from Alfea means getting your Enchantix, that means a LOT of fairies have it. Sheer logic.
