Now that the movie is out, we can finally discuss it, can't we~ For those who have read the book beforehand, did you think it was a good adaption? Do you think some things may have been done differently, shouldn't have left out or things that were over-done?

Now, read the topic at your own risk. If you've read the book before, it should be fine even if you haven't seen the movie yet. Or aren't planning to. For the rest of you that haven't seen the movie but are planning on it but haven't read the book, stay away from the topic for the meanwhile if you don't want spoilers! Just don't say I didn't warn you!

I personally really liked it, the plot was developed fine and the effects and such were really well done! Some things could had been made clearer, but as I've read the books it didn't really affect me so much. For example, they never even went into Grindelwald's and Dumbledore's backstory at all. He was just included without any explanation of who he was. But maybe that's for the second movie, I don't know. It's been months, if not a year, since I read Deathly Hallows.

Discuss?

They left out Lupin/Tonks and the whole leaving thing D:. If they don't include that in Part 2 and erase Teddy, I will be vez angry.

That being said, it can be done in Part 2 once the baby's actually been had.

Re the Grindelwald thing, I was thinking it'd explained in the King's Cross section. Because if it was put onto film, I imagine it would be through flashbacks. Because just having Dumbledore telling his story would be boring to watch.

I liked it, too. I think the effects were great, and pretty much the whole cast acted really well. But yeah, there are a few details that don't make sense if you haven't read the book. For example, the Trace. Unless I'm wrong, I think they don't actually explain it in the movie, but then when Luna's dad says Voldemort, they sic the Death Eaters on them. So for someone who hasn't read the book, little things like that may not make sense. =P

It was pretty easy to understand though. I had to explain only one thing to my friend who's only seen the movies. Which was Hermione erasing her parents minds. She just didn't know what obliviate was and what it did and all.

That part is so sad. Imagine having to remove yourself from your family, and have them never know you existed. D8

Gah, it made me even more sad than it did in the book. Watching Hermione getting erased from the pictures and stuff was pretty upsetting.

Alot of little things like that came back to me later, like the trace! I thought it was a kinda importnant one, as it explained why the death eaters found the trio at the cafe, at the Lovegood residence and why Harry suddenly started referring to Voldemort as you-know-who.

I think it was also pretty absurb that George didn't actually lose his ear like in the book, just got a hole in it. Not that I'm against him keeping it! That part made me go "D8" while reading it.

The Tonks/Lupin part was pretty upsetting to be left out, I agree. Teddy should be born at the very beginning of part 2 apparently. I really doubt they'd leave that out, Tonks was about to tell them at the Dursley residence but got cut off.

aahhh I teared up at the Hermione disappearing from the pictures part D:

Aw, no, you should read the book. I mean, the movies are great and all, but the books are amazing...

QUOTE (imdepressedxo @ Nov 21 2010, 04:20 PM) *
There was a lot of sad parts at the beginning of the movie...

Yeah, there are many sad parts at the begining of the movie. Such as when Hermione "deleted" her parents memory, so that they will never remember they had a daughter.
Also, it was very sad when Harry's owl (I don't remember her name) was killed..

But there are also many sad moments at the end of the movie, such as Dobby's death -.- (poor Dobby)

I saw the movie on Sunday at the cinema with my friend. Well, I have never read any of the books, blush.gif but my friend has read all of them!
Many people (emmm.. children & teenagers) were (emmm) "surprised" when the snake jumped to bite Harry! They screamed!! xD

Do you know when the second part is coming out? My friend told me it's coming out next month, on December. Is that true?
