“No, of course not,” Gilgamesh replied, as though the fact were obvious. “Nor will you,” he added, his tone making it sound as though it were an order. “Tell me, mongrel. Who are you?” he asked Axl, his glare centered on Axl’s forehead, his amused grin absent.

“Oh, should be just a few more hours,” Kester called from Lissie’s wheelhouse.
Gilgamesh knew what Martin was trying to do, and while he yearned to keep prodding Axl, his experience with “King” Arturia taught him that he needed to be patient. Axl would come around. Most often did. For now, he silently agreed with Martin to lay off. With his grin returning – though under the circumstances, it probably seemed more sadistic – the King returned to reclining against the mast and left Axl alone with one final comment. “Think it over, traveler. But don’t brood over it; it ill suits you.”
Kester’s eyes squinted at the horizon, which the sun had finally disappeared behind. A small flicker of flame was traveling from the western horizon and had over time passed by nearly a kilometer from Lissie’s port side. His experience of working this part of the sea helped him identify the flame’s owner despite the growing darkness of nighttime. “Well, looks like the Council’s out for a late cruise,” he commented.

So many things went through Axl at that point. On one hand, something inside him was violently opposed to accepting this... this part of him. That wasn't him. That just wasn't.... him! He wasn't inhuman. He wasn't a... monster. On the other, what if it was? What if it was part of him? It probably should be better to accept it, no matter how much that hurt. Those two parts kept battling each other. However, on the outside it made itself known with just a small, sad noise. He really shouldn't be in turmoil like this. Not just because brooding just wasn't his thing, he gave Gilgamesh that, but simply because there wasn't any time. They had things to do. Shaking his head to clear it, he joined Kester in looking over the horizon. "They do that often?" He asked.

“I don’t really know, Mr. Axl,” Kester said with a shrug. Returning his attention towards the miniscule firelights of capitol, Inkua near the horizon, he continued. “From this far, I can’t even tell how many Councilors are aboard; for all we know, the ferry might be empty and is returning to retrieve the island’s Councilor, Oswald.” The ferryman’s hearty smile returned. “No worries though, lad. If you travelers were hoping to meet the Council, I’m sure someone’ll still be around in Inkua tomorrow.”
