Winx isn't the only doll company, by far, so I decided to open this thread for people to show their non-Winx dolls. That means Barbies, Moxies, Bratz, W.I.T.C.H., porcelain dolls and whatnot..... or things like these:
Meet Lei Wulong, of Tekken fame. Up until Tekken 6, he was my favorite character, and still pretty darn awesome. He's very, VERY obviously inspired by Jackie Chan. (He could be considered a rip-off..... if it wasn't for the fact he's grown more and more in his own persona, keeps a high level of badass while Chan is (Unfortunately) in it's decline (Still love ya, but please, Chan, you're getting to old for this) is very, very pretty (If guys can drool over Christie, I can drool over him), is a very fun and complicated character to use and actually knows proper English (Tekken 4? What's that? *Personal discontinuity*)).
Anyways, the doll.
The level of detail on his clothes is awesome, especially concerning the patterning;
If I had to nitpick, his jacket's neckline's a bit to high for this particular outfit, but actually suits him, seeing how he now wears his collars like that.
The facial mold leaves me.... partial. On one hand, the detailing is amazing. However, it's also a bit.... bland. Lei is a very colorful character, with one of the most expressive faces in the game. It just collides with this neutral face.
And for comparison;
Stormy; WHY did I sit with you, again? You're such a goody two shoes.
Lei: What can I say? I've got a thing for axe-crazy people with an evil laugh. (Tekken Slash in-joke.)
Stormy: *Sigh*
Lei: Think of it like this.....
Lei: You rather want to spend time with a Musa?
Stormy: See your point, so.... you doing anything tonight, Supercop?
omg do you really still play with dolls at 24?
you can never be too old for dolls i'm sure when i reach that age i'll still have all my dolls
oh and p-girl you just said the magic word porcelain i'll have to get some pics of my porcelain dolls
So? Gotta have a hobby. And there's a difference between playing and collecting.
Yeah, P-Girl's got a point. I basically do the same thing, I collect rather than play most of the time.
Same here i have dolls but havent played with them as such since i was ten, if im baby sitting and the child wants me to play dolls with them i will.
hmmm... I guess there is a difference.
Pgirl! I love your Stormy! Epic win!
Dude I didn't even know there was a Stormy doll XD
And Terri, my mom is almost 50 and still collects dolls. It's actually a very popular hobby for adults. And "playing" is a relative term. There are tons of high-end fashion dolls where the whole point is to buy or make outfits for them, so if changing their clothes counts as playing, then yeah my mom and I still play with dolls. (mine also serve as my writing muse, on occasion)
I'll need to get the pics my mom and I took of our Ellowyne dolls of the other computer =D
I'm almost tempted to post some pictures of my Syaoran doll. ((Of CCS fame, I got him at an anime convention, he's freakin' adorable.))
Go ahead, that's what the thread's for.
My sister and i used to collect Bratz, most were taken out of their boxes but we still have 3 that wernt. But when i turned 13 i gace all the dolls to my sister (exept for a goth yasmin & masquerade cloe)
but now she collects Moxie girls.. and she hasnt taken them out of their boxes .. which is suprising concidering she's 11.
so yeah im a collecter too :3
Me too! Well, I try. I usually get a doll, then take it out of the box, then regret it later. The only doll I still have in it's box is my Tinkerbell doll that I got at the Disney store in Hamilton.
aww you have a tinkerbelle doll?!! awww i love tinkerbelle!! mehe same when i was younger and i bought bratz.. i was like 'ill keep it in the box' five mins later it'd be out and id be playing with her XD
it was impossible!!
Pfft, I NEVER kept dolls in the box XD I bought them to play with them!
I'm also not really a fan of keeping your dolls 'Mint' or whatever they call it. That's not the point of them! They want to be free!
My mom used to collect Barbies, but one of the reasons she stopped is that she got really mad about the "collector" dolls. Mattel was so sure that nobody would ever take them out of the boxes that they ruined the back half of the doll. There was no back to the outfit, the entire back of her head was bald, it just wasn't pretty.
What?! Ludicrous. And lazy.
o-o what thats strange, i mean i belieive in collecting and mint condition but come on a bald head? that just lazy *sues barbie*
I'm a guy so I don't play with dolls or collect but there is one type of doll I really want, but it's like $400-500!
http://www.volksusa.com
Ooooh, Volks BJDs! I would love one! @___@ But they're so expensive. I love Dollfies.
GIANT IMAGES HO! My mom and I took some shots of our Ellowyne Wilde dolls for her doll board a few months ago, so here are a few of the pictures =D The one with the long, straight black hair is mine, the one with the curly dark hair and the one who keeps wearing a different wig are my mom's.
Wow, pretty dolls! And definately not for little girls.
Thanks! And yup, I had to wait a while before my mom would get me these kind of dolls instead of just Barbies. They're a lot more fragile, and the clothing is more delicate as well (not to mention you need a lot of manual dexterity to work some of the ties and buckles, since they're so tiny).
Not to mention some of the outfits are a tad risqué and edgy for little girls.
Ah, yeah, that's also true. XD And it is another reason why dolls aren't just for little kids. A lot of fashion dolls so have fairly tame wardrobes (actually, a lot of the official Ellowyne clothes are pretty safe, most of these in the pictures were either from other dolls or hand-made), but some of them that are supposed to have a more modern look, or looks inspired from runways, can be pretty edgy for younger kids.
Ooh, those are really pretty! I love the various boots. Lol, I always seem to like boots.
XD I have a weakness for boots, too. That's probably why my dolls have so many pairs of them >_>;
That is cool, Lizzy! =D I really need to watch that at some point XD
Anyone ever seen these little dollies?
(Pardon the quality)
I usually see them at flea markets for like three bucks a pop. (Got these together for five somewhere in France) They're made quite cheaply, but by God if these dolls in traditional attire aren't the cutest things ever.
I really love that red dress =3
My mom got a new Ellowyne for Christmas, she has glass eyes and she's gorgeous x___x I wish we had a camera, so I could post some pics.
Thanks. I personally prefer the one in black, since the dress looks a teensy bit more sobre (And I just love that little cross). But the red one's face is just amazing.
I think I may like the style of the darker dress better, but I love the colors on the red one. And the face is so pretty.
I kinda like the red one myself. Nice dolls by the way. =)
Okay.... I haven't bought anything in a while, but since the dolls I've tried to save up for are being pushed back to AUGUST, I decided to treat myself.
Meet Tekken's Bryan Fury. Ex-cop, cyborg zombie and all around madman. He's, of course, very similar to my Wulong figure, but with some differences; his body is a bit taller and leaner (Ironic considering how their body types are in the game) and his head doesn't fit as well with his body. I wanted to ditch the jacket, since he goes shirtless for most of his run, but his neck is weirdly elongated, his skin is of a different color and just doesn't mash with the body well. Luckily, I could comprimise by just having his jacket on with the front open. The clothes are of a rougher material and less detailed, but hey, army fatigues versus Chinese robes, of course there's gonna be some difference.
He came with some accesories that you can strap around his legs; a grenade, a knife, and a belt with bullets. Unfortunately, that last one broke as soon as I got it out of the box, so there.... still, these are neat, considering Bryan always has things like these hanging off his pants.
Once again, I'm partial to the head.... the amount of detail is once more amazing, and actually has some life to it... but this might be personal; when I think Bryan, I think maniacal grin, not angry scowl. The hands actually pop off, obviously made seperate from the body, just like the head. He has fingerless black gloves with this neat skull-like silver pattern, I love 'em.
The main body is amazingly articulated and detailed, detailing the muscular structure quite nicely. It's just... too smooth and shiny. And it's missing a huge trademark scar over Bryan's chest. But hey, it's obviously not meant to have the jacket on, so I can forgive them for missing such a detail.
Overall, I really like this doll. It's a nice representation of Bryan in Tekken 4.
Ooh, I have a few I should put up. Especially this Zhalia Moon action figure I just got, I'm particularly obsessed with her. >_>
They actually have Huntik figures?
Yup. On an Indian toy site, no less. xD
...I'm trying to get a Sophie one, but I can't find it anywhere. D=
Pretty cool. Granted, I'm not following the series, but something having action figures is always awesome if you ask me.
They're here! THey're here!
And they're AWESOME! They actually come with stands, something I wished more of them did, and they're ball-jointed! I love ball-jointed dolls, but usually they're so expensive....
IWANTIWANTIWANT.
Did you order them online? Do they have Draculaura? xD
I bought them off an E-bay seller, but he only had Cleo and Deuce.... and he decided to bump up the price to a ridiculous level after I've purchased mine. However, they're popping up everywhere in American stores at the moment. Online, they're on several sites.... but either they don't ship outside America, or they're hugely overpriced.
*resigned sigh* Yup. Then they're probably out for me. {I got lucky with the Zhalia figure, since they shipped from Mumbai, another Indian city. Otherwise, I pay almost double just for shipping. So if they're expensive on their own, to begin with... x_x}
Well, if I find some reasonable priced ones, I'll let you know.
Thanks! And I shall continue to poke around the nooks and crannies of internet stores myself. ^^
Teehee!
Frankie: Where am I? This is all so new to me..... ooh! Big pale soldier guy! Could you help me out?
Dragunov Wallpaper: ....
Frankie: Is.... that a no?
Frankie: Deuce! Oh it's good to see someone familiar. Wait, where's Cleo? You two are joined at the hip. And I heard Clawdeen was around here too.
Deuce: Well.... this place only fits two, and since I'm the personal favorite, I get a prolonged stay. Clawdeen and Cleo are moved upstairs. There's loads of others like us there. Well, kinda, some witches and a few 'Fairies' or whatever they're called and a TON of robots.
Frankie: Witches? Fairies? Oh, that's sounds sooo creeperiffic, I'm sure Clawdeen and Cleo are so excited to be up there!
Deuce: Well......
Clawdeen: *Growls*
----------------------------------------------------------
On a different note: E-bay prices are getting reasonable.
And another one!
Lagoona! She's my favorite of the girls as of now! (Deuce is still my all time fav.... altough Holt might take that spot when he comes out)
I just adore her face. Her eyes seem to bulge out slightly, she's got a flat nose, these adorable little fin-ears (Couldn't fotograph them....) and freckles! Little bleu freckles! She's just so adorable!
The hair's just.... awesome. Sure, it looks pretty high maintenance, but hey, she's got MY sort of hair! (Well, not that long.... and without the bleu streaks..... you have any idea how hard it is to find a character that has my sort of hair?! She's close enough!)
Her hoodie's awesome, you can wear it down, but if you want it up, it has this hole to put her hair trough. Quite nifty, if not a pain to put up again once you pulled it down. I wish they had that in real life (Ever tried a hoodie if your hair is long and curly? Not really comfortable.
Guess who finally got around to uploading that Zhalia photo? xD
{...Proud of this photo, for some reason, if I do say so myself.}
And with that.....
My Monster High Collection is complete! (Well, until Gloom Beach comes along. That one has Jackson Jekyll.)
...So jealous of your MH dolls. >_>

I have Monster High Frankie. I want Abbey Bominable.
I'm jellious were did you find them.
E-Bay, mostly. However, Frankie I got from a friend, just like Deadfast Ghoulia and I actually found Home Ick Frankie in a store.
ok i asked my friend and she said they are at walmart 2 soo im going to check there
I've got some at Target, too. If all else fails, you can get them from Mattel's website.
I got my Ghoulia from big W
i got lagona blue i found her and frankistian and gowala at bjs ;D
Ok so i was a bit of a naughty girl buying more MH dolls when i really shouldnt have, my latest additions are Dead Tired Draculara, and Frankie and Lagoona.
Draculara is joined by her friends Frankie and Lagoona
Ghoulia is on her own between my Layla and Flora styling heads
oh I'm so jealous
Normal Draculara has been added into the mix
XD Sisser's collection is growing fast! I haven't got a new doll in a while, maybe I can finally get an Abbey now that we have extra Ren Fest money...
ugh grr i want dracular soo bad >.<
Heeey :) So today I was naughty and used the last of my money to buy an Abbey Bominable doll :) She's my first MH doll, and I must say, I'm impressed. Such detail, and the outfit is gorgeus! I had nooo idea they came with stands wish winx dolls did :) for £14 (which is approx about (guessing $26) I think its worth it :) for the doll, pet, stand and diary (And I must say I was rather impressed by the diary and its contents, didn't really expect it to be so good).
I will post pics when I can :) along with my Disney fairies doll collection. (And winx doll collections in other threads once christmas has been and I can take a pic of my full collection)
Sorry for double post but here are a few of my fave dolls I own that aren't winx :)
Disney Fairies
Both:
Heres Fawn (orange) and Vidia (purple) Fawn is fairy of animals and Vidia is fairy of air. These dolls resemble the Giochi preziosi enchantix dolls, because they're Giochi dolls :)
Fawn:
Vidia:
And now here's some shots of my Abbey Bominable doll :) I love her sooo much!
Her pet wooly mammoth Shiver :)
Also my Toy story Jessie and Disney Tarzan in the background of some of these >.<
im new what can u do on this sight
Well.... you can talk to people.
For example, this topic is for talking about dolls.
Got two new dolls :) Ghoulia, with my own money, and Frankie-Dead tired from a friend they're awesome i wasn't sure about Frankie, but since I got her, I think she is so beautiful!! Heres a pic of my tiny collection:
EDIT: Aaaaargh! My collection be going quick >.< got a classroom Lagoona today she's amazing!
New collection:
I was just looking through my old stuff and I found my totally spies dolls! I used to love that show too, I'm not quite sure what happened to though.
Just thoughI'd show my additions lately :3
So my new ones are: Clawdeen, Toralei, Spectra and Gill :)
Anyone know where I could get Cleo and Deuce for a fair price, and not on bid?
Laughing my butt off! I remember Totally Spies! That is awesome that you have the dolls Abby. That show was hilarious. I always thought Clover was basically a Stella in that show. xD
And I think the Monster High dolls (and the fun little short videos they make online) are fun too. I have to say I may own a doll or two of my own... (yay for Ghoulia and Lagoona!). I'm glad there are still animated shows that have good morals, are upbeat, colorful, and most importantly, are funny.
I miss totally spies lol. I always saw Clover as a Stella-like character too and then Sam similar to Bloom (I actually like her better than Bloom). I think I related alex to musa more because of her tom-boyishness too.
I can see those comparisons easily. Alex was like a Musa/Tecna cross-over. Well, that would be awesome. : )
Now I want to go back and watch some episodes of Totally Spies, lol.
