"I could have been a dreamer, I could have been a shooting star...
I could have been a dreamer, Cause dreams are what we Are
I always could have been a dreamer. Cause dreamers never die!" for a while i was thinking about make this toppic or not, and finaly decide that i wanted.. no i needed it... well its hard to explain. this is not the usual kind of post on a site like this but really i want to speak my mind and maybe even let other people know this man's work.
I'll start with a song that you don't need to be into metal/rock to like it. Im asking you, at least hear one minute of "Hungry for heaven" if you don't like it its ok.. try other or walk away,
but don't miss the chance to hear one of the best voices of rock of al the time... if you don't think his voice is great check "Don't talk to Strangers"
None of these songs are offensive, and if you can handle 80's music you can handle this... is not that heavy or even violent as some people think.
DIO: Hungry For Heaven (check at least 1 minute)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFyxCf8ZgBwBlack Sabbath: Heaven And Hell (most popular song with sabbath)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKGn_jsPB-MDIO: Rainbow in the Dark (most popular song in Solo career)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgpDDDIo_XE"Ronnie James Dio, one of rock/metal all-time greatest singers passed away last May 16th at the age of 67 of Stomach cancer"When i hear it i was in shock, its interesting how can you feel for someone you don't know.
You may hear it or may not, depending of where do you live, some countries and place's media seems to just ignore the importance of this news giving more importance to "popular" stuff... (thats what's really fuels me to make this post)
Here some Info and opinions I'll try to make this short (not copypasta)
Just in case that you don't know who this man was or how important he was to the rock/metal scene... Have you done or seen somebody doing the
"devil horns" hand sing? this was the man who make this gesture popular and
make it the "icon" of the heavy metal, Dio often said he got the symbol the "Malocchio" or "Evil Eye" from his Italian grandmother as a "protection from the evil" sign or "to ward off the evil eye" sign... Its been said that he used it to get a connection with the fans like the one Ozzy osbourne had with the Peace symbol (2 fingers like a v) but without copy Ozzy's style.
He was the singer of the band "The Electric Elves", what later "ELF", then
"Rainbow", but he really became famous when
he Replaces Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1979, recording two of the most awesome Black Sabbath Albums,
"Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" getting a lot of acceptance by the public as the new front man of the band (no matter how iconic Ozzy is, mostly of the fans recognize that Dio's Voice was way better than Ozzy's) After leaving Sabbath he make his
Solo career as "DIO" recording about 10 albums, in 2006
he re-join with the Black sabbath line up under the name of "Heaven and Hell" (can't use the name for legal reasons) releasing his last album "the Devil you know" in 2009.
I've been a fan of his awesome voice since i hear the
first minutes of "Don't talk to Strangers" and "Heaven and Hell" blow my mind.
Some of his most popular known songs on his solo career are
"Holy Diver" and "Rainbow in the dark" (i think they even were included on some Guitar hero) and
"Heaven and Hell" as his more important song within Black Sabbath. (This song's really potential is known on the Live version what include a extra part and the iconic "Whoooo ooh ooh ooooooh, Whoooo ooh oh oooh oh oh oh" on the intro Riffs) along
Neon Knight, Children of the Sea, the Devil cried and others.
"So just hold on
You can make it happen for you
Reach for the stars and you will fly"
As a person he was sometimes called the "gentleman of metal" his reputation of
dedication to the fans its been always recognized taking the time to sign autographs and pose in photos everytime he could, i remembered him saying
"If were not for the people that come here we have absolutely no reason to even exist". He also was well known for
encourage young musicians, inspiring the young artists.
Sadly His hand sign and the lyrics of some songs make some religious people point him as a man of evil and protest and follow him all his life (The Westboro Baptist Church even try to sabotage his memorial/open funeral day on their blind faith/hate).... it is interesting how they does focus in that and not on the money and sponsor he give to the organization
"Children of the Night" dedicated to rescuing America's children from prostitution, or the "Hear 'n Aid" stuff back on the 80s'
He wasn't a media person, he was known on the stage or music related events, he cannot be seen on news scandals and stuff like that, except for the Jack black's stupid thing "tenacious-D" or the his critic to "American Karaoke" (american idol) about making disposable musicians years ago.
No sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark
A Rainbow in the Dark
His Music many times makes reference to
myths, magic, dragons, dreams, rainbows, wizards and knights and heaven and hell's related stuff, i let you a few song for you to try...
Thank you for all,
Rest in Peace
