I just we could talk about musicals that we like here and ones we see. Some of my favorites that I have seen are:
Rent
Wicked
We Will Rock You

I also saw Beauty and the Beast, it was pretty good. What other musicals do you guys like? Or are going to see soon?

Posted by: W.I.N.X Jun 7 2008, 2:23 AM

I really liked

We Will Rock You
The Phantom of the Opera
and Grease

I really want to see Wicked, but it's only opening in Melbourne(next year, I think) which makes me sad, because I don't think it's touring.

Posted by: winxclub-joy Jun 7 2008, 2:25 AM

Mine is

Grease

Phantom of the opera

and, quite a lot that I could hardly remember lol

My local high school recently performed "Guys and Dolls" which was very funny. Oh, and I saw Wicked for a second time. Still rocks.

Did you guys hear? Wicked is ending its tour in the states! sad.gif I think it's been running for... uh... five years. *sob* and what a Wicked five years it's been!

Posted by: AnnieBelle Jun 11 2008, 6:44 PM

{They'll still be playing it in Chicago and New York and LA, right?}

My favorites are:
Wicked {OMG no really?}
Wizard of Oz {seen it multiple times at the Muny}
Kiss Me Kate {At the St. Louis Rep}

I just realized how many musical places we have here. There's the Rep, the Muny, the Fox, the 3 theaters at SLU, the one at Mizzou, and...a few more...

Posted by: LinneaKou Jun 11 2008, 6:50 PM

I live quite a bit away from any big city, but I'm really not sure if Wicked will be playing anymore at all. If the tour's ended, that means that the musical goes into "DA VAULT" and gets processed so it can eventually become a show that high schools can perform and so on. And then maybe they'll revive it in like, ten years or so.

In other words, I have no clue. I just heard it was ending its run. It's still a bit disappointing, considering I ONLY saw it twice. *LOL*

Posted by: AnnieBelle Jun 12 2008, 3:26 AM

xD I've seen it twice as well, here, and in Chicago. The good thing about only being 1 hour planeflight, counting groundtime, or 5 hour drive away from Chicago is that I can go see it with my mom whenever we feel like splurging and/or shopping in Chicago, since she likes it too.
But I am still firm on my belief that it doesn't matter where and/or who plays it, whoever gets in as Fiyero is hot. {I have a list of my favorite Fiyero's...top 3, top 5...xD}
But anyone seen Kiss Me Kate? I love the music in it! *xD my newest favorite place for music on the 'net plays nothing but music from musicals.*

I have only seen Wicked once in Chicago (I could have seen it this winter when it came to Cleveland, but I thought, nahh I'm seeing it in Chicago so why see it here? I should have seen it though! Considering the tour is ending now icon_sad.gif ) I can't wait until this coming season though! Legally Blonde is coming here, so is Spring Awakening (I have been DYING to see that one!) and next summer Mary Poppins is coming! Also in August Mamma Mia is coming here, I hope my mom gets tickets soon because I really want to see it!

Rocky horror picture show
Phantom of the opera
Avenue Q
Grease and Grease 2

I haven't seen it yet, but I want to see Sweany Tod.

Posted by: Natasha Jul 13 2008, 5:04 AM

I have only seen Wicked and High School Musical Live.
Wicked rocked, I love it alot.
I am going to see it again before it leaves Chicago.

Posted by: Abby Jul 17 2008, 4:19 AM

I also want to see Sweeney Todd, I loved the movie, so I would probably also like the Stage production. I also agree about Fiyero being hot (except I really don't think Norbert leo Burtz, or whoever was the first fiyero, was hot at all) The guy who played him while I was in chicago and saw it (Michael Seelbach) was really hot, and you could tell it from his voice and from the high up balcony seat I was in! *pulls out playbill and stares at picture and drools*

i really want to see wicked when it comes back in town

Posted by: Abby Jul 20 2008, 10:27 PM

I would also love to see Wicked again if it ever comes back to my city.

Posted by: Music123 Aug 16 2008, 10:26 AM

Phantom of the opera is my all time fave, I know all the songs off by heart, saw the movie like a million times, read the novel (by Gaston Leroux its and old book) and saw the stage show with my mum. I am a huge fan!!!!!!!!! Wooooohoooooo

Posted by: KLEB Oct 14 2008, 5:09 PM

I love the Phantom Of The Oprea too!!!!! Ahh The music in it is just great! I want to see Wicked badly! It looks really good. I have so many friends who have seen it! Rent is also one I want to see! Big fan of the movie!

Posted by: Music123 Mar 11 2009, 9:52 AM

I want to see Wicked as well. The other day I saw some people perform the song "If I knew you" (I think that's what it's called) on a morning show. It was sooo beautiful.

Posted by: W.I.N.X Mar 22 2009, 10:26 AM

I saw it last night. It was faaaaaaantastic. One of my favourite musicals(along with Phantom of course)and as I said on the song I'm listening to thread, I dare say the Aussie cast are one of the best(Glinda and Elphaba mostly, not Bert Newton, Rob Guest[R.I.P] was great though[just judging by tape, too]). Of course, my opinion is a little biased icon_biggrin.gif. BTW that song would've been 'For Good'

This list is rather long, I have musical theatre majors to thank for that ^^;

Aida
Cannibal! The Musical (Ok Matt Stone and Trey Parker don't really count, but it's still amazing!)
Chicago
Hair
Hairspray (Broadway version only)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Legally Blonde: The Musical
Les Miserables
Little Shop of Horrors
My Fair Lady
RENT
The Rocky Horror Show
The Threepenny Opera
Sweeney Todd
Urinetown
Wicked
You're A God Man Charlie Brown

oH yeah, I love all things Les Mis as well. Almost as much as POTO.

Posted by: Another Morning Dec 1 2009, 6:02 AM

omai, I love musicals XD Let me list them

The oldschool Disney movies (do those count?) I saw the broadway version of Beauty and the Beast when it came through, so that counts at least.
Thoroughly Modern Millie (seen the movie and the Broadway show)
Chicago (only seen the movie)
Hairspray (only seen the movie)
Cats (don't hate me, it's nostalgic to me XD my friend had a tape of the Broadway show)
Wicked (just saw it a couple weeks ago, omfg it was amazing)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (my mom and I used to do the Time Warp together XD)
Repo! The Genetic Opera
Singin' In the Rain
Meet Me In St. Louis

I know I'm probably forgetting a bunch

Posted by: W.I.N.X Dec 3 2009, 2:46 AM

*Headesk* Thank you Morny, how could I forget Repo! Now that is some good musical carnage. And Cats! OK, that show looked like it was on crack, but the songs were great. I sand the song 'Mr Mistoffelees' for mothes after. Honestly, even my own cats hate it. Whenever I go up to them singing it they go 'O.O MEOW'

*Dances* I might go see Wicked in March. I'm STOKED! I've never seen a professionally done musical before. Yes, I know I sound like such a loser. I DO live pretty much in the middle of nowhere though. Seeing Wicked would make my life though! We'd have to go all the way to Virginia, which is a loooong way.

It's not like I've NEVER seen a musical before. This one company up here did Guys and Dolls a few years back as well as Cabaret and Urinetown, and the 11/12 drama class at MAD (Music Art and Drama) has done tons, including Wicked. Omg, it's going to be a movie in 2011 guys! I also read that Idina Menzel's playing Elphie, which would be AMAZING! I've also seen Annie somewhat professionally. It wasn't Broadway or anything, but it was amazing.

Anyways here's a few of my faves:

Grease (I've seen it!)
Chicago
Hairspray
Cabaret (I've seen it!)
Cats (My friend saw it in Vancouver, and they videoed it or something, then I watched that, so does that count as me seeing the real one?)
Phantom of the Opera
Urinetown (I've seen it!)
Guys and Dolls (I've seen it!)
Legally Blonde: The Musical
Wicked
Annie (I've seen it!)
Sound of Music
Beauty and the Beast (Omg, I wanna see it so bad! My cousin goes to this musical theatre school, and she's playing Belle in the musical this weekend. I wish I could watch, but she lives ever so far away.)
Anne of Green Gables (I've seen it!)

Posted by: W.I.N.X Dec 18 2009, 1:42 PM

Idina probably isn't apparantly, people with IMDBPro accounts tried to put her up as having the role.

And Tea, did the MAD drama class you mentioned do the whole show of Wicked? Or just a few songs? If they did more than just a selection, then they were doing the performance illegally. Amateur theatre groups aren't permitted to do WIcked. It's still too popular. That's why Phantom hasn't been released to schools even after 20 years. Too popular a show.

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Dec 24 2009, 6:06 AM

Yeah, they only did a selection, which is why I'm so excited to go see it professionally done.

{Edit: It made no sense at all.}

Posted by: Another Morning Dec 24 2009, 6:41 PM

XD That's okay, Kate, I can't believe I forgot Grease! After other people had already mentioned it! *headdesk*

I love the movie and the live show, I've seen both >3

Posted by: W.I.N.X Dec 26 2009, 8:52 AM

OK, I thought so. I kind of go into a musical-fangirl rage when I get the impression people did illegal performances. I'm like 'what? HELL NO YOU DON'T'. And I went all the way to Melbourne to see Wicked, so I totally get how you feel about seeing it professionally, but going a long way to see it. And speaking of going all the way places to see shows, me and my dad are going to Sydney in January to see Mamma Mia! Can't wait!

@Morny-Grease is loveage too. But I've only seen the movie. The stage show was here about four years ago, but I was a snot-nosed nine-year-old who didn't appreciate musical theatre then. I was better at twelve when POTO came to town, thus starting my aforementionmed musical-fangirlness.

*randomly moseys on into topic* so-whats the most swankified place in town?

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Jan 1 2010, 10:07 PM

We've been over this. Several times. The Ozdust Ballroom.

Posted by: Another Morning Jan 1 2010, 10:11 PM

XD I went through a Grease obsession period when I was younger, and it just happened to come through town at the same time, so my mom scored some tickets for us. It was pretty fun. And now I have it on DVD so I can sing like an idiot with it 8D

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Jan 1 2010, 10:21 PM

Omg, like, the summer between grade 7 and 8, I was in a Grease obsession period. I'm not even kidding, I watched the movie everyday for the entire summer. Apparently, when I was 2, my mom took me to see it. XD

XD I did the same thing when I was around 10 or 11.

Two more brilliant ones.
Reefer Madness (not recommended for the younger audiences) and The 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee!
