In this thread we [should] discuss about Dragon Ball Z and how it changed our lives. I remember watching that show for almost ever... well until Cartoon Network took it off. Nice one Cartoon Network, nice one. That was almost as great of a choice as Cartoon Network REAL.

I LOVED Vegeta, especially his SS5 form. I guess Gogeta would be up there as well.

Yes, the show did, not the manga (which is what I'm probably thinking of).

Dragonball AF: an April Fool's joke played on Dragonball/Z/GT fans. There is a story, but no anime and I've never seen a manga for it. That's what Exorcist is talking about. The official manga ended with Z. Oh, and:

As for my views, I consider everything post-Cell saga a fail. At the end of the Cell saga, Gohan is all set to become the world's next hero, and then in one episode they completely destroy the idea. Also, they constantly run into the problem of people having enough power to defeat Buu, but not enough time. Goku could have nipped it in the bud if he hadn't been dead and only visiting for one day. Gotenks could have beaten Buu given more time. They almost had Gohan become the hero again, but then he was defeated. Then in GT, they completely throw out the idea of Gohan's full power being tapped. He's just stuck with the Super Saiyan forms again. Sorry, but I'm a Gohan fan, and he really gets it in the rear post-Cell saga. So many times he could have taken over as main hero, but it never happens.

Yeah AF was an April Fools joke.

And I remember liked DBZ, I'm in the midst of rewatching DragonBall and I love it, and from what I remember and from what I've heard from nearly all of my friends who like the series, we all just pretend GT never happened.

Crazy thing is, I remember a number of years ago a friend of mine on the DBZ gamefaqs forum (which I frequented because I thought DBZ was awesome at the time) actually did a rewrite of GT.

And he made it *work*. The story ended on an appropriately awesome level and had a fulfilling conclusion.

Here's the link. It's thirty chapters and only 50,000-ish words long. Feel free to take a look.

^ What caused that? Finding out that AF is a farce, or my Gohan fanboyism?

Gohan should have gotten more focus after Cell. Seriously. Toriyama WANTED Gohan to be the hero of the Buu saga, except his editors demanded giving Goku more love. The whole reason the fight against Kid Buu exists in the first place was to nerf Buu down to the point where Goku had a chance against him.

I'd believe that. Whenever a character comes in, and everyone somehow consistently senses that they're uber-powerful (i.e., Gohan, even as a kid) you know that eventually that person needs to become the main character, especially if they experience a lot of character development, as Gohan did. Gohan and Vegeta got the most character development in Dragonball Z.
