I don't know if something like this has been brought up before, but I think I have a fun idea to try and breathe some more life into this place:

Lately, I've started watching a lot of movies with my friends over MSN. Like, we both load the same video link, and then talk/chat as we watch. So I was wondering if we could try something like that on MC, with the Winx movie. Instead of our usual shoutbox ball, we could do this. I guarantee it'll be super fun; I get so hyper when I do this with my other friends, lol.

I'm not sure as to the whereabouts of a download/stream of the Winx movie, but I know it's on Youtube, even if that's a last resort for this idea to work. So could guys tell me if this would work? Would you be interested in it? =)

epic lol i do that with katie harsh alot (another morning) and some others on my msn it's always so fun we pass time pretty fast so i'd definetly support this idea. Btw jahn i dont mind if you watched some anime or movie/cartoons with me that way too via msn XD right now i'm watching rosario + vampire and me and katie watch tokyo mew mew + saint seiya while we chat it's really fun!

I've not seen lion king for ages so i'd get some wacky dejavu's from childhood i bet, right now i'm more into animes i guess like maybe rosario + vampire season 2 eventho that animes kinda creepy XD and i don't think it's pg13 so watch out people lol

Sounds fun. :) We should have multiple viewings of different genres because people watch different stuff...even if it sounds kind if difficult. I would like that. ^^ I tried to do that on Skype once....it was a fail...cause the frame changed every 10 seconds. Oh..my internet speed.

On a sidenote...I'm writing a Flora x Riven fic. Now Tea is probably weirded out at me.

If you want a dvd rip in widescreen of the first movie then I've got it, it's mp4 format although I could do it in avi format if you like and upload it (it's 700mb in size, so it may take a while to upload). I found mp4 format better since I can transfer it straight onto my ipod lol.

No, I have the second movie in Italian and in widescreen, don't really like it that way.

But if its another version, I don't mind harboring it :)

To be honest, I think Livestream would be a much better idea than synchtube

On livestream, one person could broadcast the movie right from their desktop and in a player of their choice, and it also has an integrated chatroom!

Would everyone have to have that player? I'm not familiar with livestream. If so, I'd probably recommend VLC...even if you don't have it, I've personally found it's the best free player out, so IMO it'd be good to get it anyway. You can play most formats, it works over buggy bits... and it's for both Mac and Windows.

Only one person has to have the movie if we use Livestream. That one person makes an account on livestream, and basically they can stream their desktop. So they'd play the movie and we'd watch it on the site. You don't have to make an account to watch streams. Each stream has a chatroom that people watching can use, and again you don't have to register to use it.

We could watch the movie, a handful of episodes, or even different movies if we wanted. Group watches are just fun :3

Another ball sounds like a good idea, too. If doing it while the movie is playing would be too much, maybe we could do it before or after.

...I want to take responsibility for being MC's ball planner again please i want to make all the pretty gowns again and such ... I was going to suggest a Christmas ball in December however i might not be here in late December (don't worry i'm not going to run away from MC again I'm going camping) but when ever we originise it for i can do all the working out for times and co-ordinating with all the different time zones

ok to start with we need to work out when we want to have the ball the first step is to work out the month we want to have it then i will work around the weekends it'll equal to a four day weekend with the dates to cater for the time zones but we'll work that part later we just need the month to start.

Free anytime bar next weekend and the one after that. Not too sure about days yet...I shall have to look into things. I'm fairly sure I'm booked all next weekend, but the week after I could probably do it on the Saturday morning before I go out, as a friend is coming to town later that day, and the day after we're celebrating my birthday, so that Sunday is definitely out, since we'll be at my friends. Unless of course the sleepover is on the Friday and we do everything on Saturday....derp, I'll get back to ya.

Lol, after reading everyone's reactions to this idea I can see the big problem is finding the right TIME. That's my problem too.

However, I saw the idea Jahnavix had in mind and I wanted to say I still think it's a good idea. I'd like to try it some time in the future if we attempt it again.

I think if there is enough interest and the summer months would probably be best and we will just have to pick a time. There is not going to be a way to please every person due to how many different regions are represented on the forum.

I agree, we should just pick a time which seems to suit the majority of people and stick with it. We could also pm the date/time to once-dedicated members who don't come on regularly anymore in the hopes that they make an appearance. It might spark a renewed interest in the forum and a new burst of activity :)

I think I had (have?) my email set up so that when a someone PM's me it prompts an email to me as well. Or it used to be that way at one time? So long as my inbox wasn't full of course.

I dig the movie watching idea and am glad Humbu's got some good ideas. It will be random, but whenever anyone makes a date/time I will just have to check it with my work schedule and see if I can swing it. I would definitely try at the least.

We could also use means outside of the board to contact people. I think most of us "old-timers" have each other on Facebook, lol. We could send a message to anyone who isn't as active here, maybe? And I remember there being a topic where all of us posted our email IDs. We could try using those, too, as a backup option. Either way, I'm sure it won't be too hard to round everyone up, haha. :)

I think I have 18 MC friends on FB I could contact, which probably overlap your own MC friends. We could post a status update (so only MC friends could see the invite) or just PM everyone, either way. I'm willing to help out even if I may not be able to join in the fun depending on my work schedule. I think this is a good idea and want to see it happen!

i was actually thinking we should have another MCF awards night to go with the shoutbox ball!! obviously slightly changed and tweaked to suit the amount of active members these days and the sectors where active in but i'd love to organise it if anyone interested?
