So, yeah. First off, I have to admit, while admiring the show for what it did, I never really got into the first Avatar series. I dunno, it just didn't push my 'Squee!' buttons, so it's kinda in 'Dark Knight' territory: I know it's good, I admire what it's done for a medium I love, but I'm not a fan.
However, that's about to change:
Whole thing. I want it.
Loved the other show, I'm going to love this
i have to agree, i just wonder if this is after aang and katara or before because the girl looks alot like katara... and it seems the brother's personality might be in it aswell.
This takes place seventy years after the first series. Korra is the new Avatar after Aang died. There's some next gen. (Aang and Katara have a kid named Tenzin and Toph's Daughter is in it as well) but handled pretty well (Tenzin's actually quite old and already has three kids with a fourth on the way and Toph's daughter is the leader of a police group specialised in Metalbending)
Avatars always skip a generation, unless they happen to die early.
mmmm this is going to be GOOD.
No they're not. Once the Avatar dies, BAM, new Avatar's born. The reason Aang's was all messed up was because of the iceberg thing.
what she meant P. was that under a normal situation most people live to see their grand children. thus skip a generation. but the series does indeed look good. do you know when it will be coming out?
Wasn't wkw a HE?
Oh, right. Sorry, taught you meant something else.
im not sure lol. i never really payed much attention to any one but the RP'ers.
whats a bishie!
i are male :'(
But its ok
sorry... i just never got to know you. and to be fair, i cannot be blamed for something i had no knowledge of >.>
When is this starting? My avatar fix needs to be filled, I can only keep watching the three season of the last airbender for a certain amount of time before getting tired of them. Anyways this looks exciting!
Maybe Summertime? I hope it's then so I actually have time to keep up with it.
I was a bit skeptical about the show at first but I just watched it on korranation.com and it was freaking amazing! I love it so much. I can't wait for more episodes.
You can download the first 2 episodes on itunes for free, I haven't gotten to watch them yet though.
Yep, it's out already. It released today at 11AM EST/PT and 10AM for C. On Nick 2 was 2PM EST (not sure about PT). So new episodes every Saturdays for USA Fans. ^_^ One of my friends watched it. =)
I watched it finally and thought it was pretty cool. I liked how they made it a bit more modern like in the early to mid 20th century and the connections with all of the characters from the last airbender. I still think I will like the original series the best, but it will be cool to keep up with this one.
I think the show is getting really good now, I can't wait to see how the whole Mako/Korra relationship is played out in the long run as well as linking back to the last airbender.
I want one of Zuko's relatives to be in the show already! He's my favorite from the last airbender series.
I miss Uncle Iroh!
[/nostalgic memories]
Okay, I've yet to actually watch an episode of this series, but I liked the first one very much and the whole element bending universe, so I'm am pretty pumped for this next series. More modern, a hot-headed main character, 70 years into the future -- I think I can take all of those changes on and still enjoy this a lot. I'm a little behind on tv watching (still going through the second half of Season 4 Winx!) but I want to start Korra very soon. From everyone's responses it sounds great. And as always with the first series, I love the animation.
Cool find on the voice acting part Abby. I really like finding out when my favorite voice actors reoccur in other cartoons I like. (i.e. Brock from Pokemon and Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!, same voice acting, whoo hoo!)
Yeah I found it on my tumblr newsfeed randomly and was like "whoa, how did a winx thing end up here?" since I don't really follow any winx tumblr's and realized its because my friend reblogged it from a legend of korra one!
I really like the whole modernization thing since I'm really into history (it is my major) and one of my favorite time periods is the twentieth century and the show has that kind of 1920s feel to it.
And don't feel alone in being behind on tv shows, I have only seen 1 episode of season 4 of winx and have no clue when I will catch up on the rest, plus I'm watching a bunch of shows on Netflix that I am just discovering the greatness of now (like Parks and Recreation for example).
The finale is next week. I didn't know there would be so few episodes. =((
I know, it's really upsetting. I want more! ):
I know I feel like there is so much that hasn't been revealed in the show yet. Like how Amon can take away bending at all or how blood bending is possible without a full moon.
Oh and I love your avatar and signature kaylin!
I agree. I wish they would've moved slower, but given that they only have 30 minutes to build the story each week, plus the fact that the seasons are so short, they don't have enough time to thoroughly develop everything. But they're great with their storieslines and I'm sure our questions will be answers. (PS: Thanks, Abby. ^^)
Did you guys see the episode from this morning? I usually just watch it streaming online because I don't have cable at my house.
I think its a good pass, but I hope there will be a second season or something
Awesome show. Would've dropped the shipping, myself. Even if it was just for how most of the internet seems to be focussed on it.
The internet: 'Like, Omigod, this whole love triangle thing is terrible and ruins the show'
Me: *Too busy fawning over Korra, Tenzin and Lin being awesome to care/notice* Did she just take down an AIRSHIP?! Wooh! That's the Bei Fong spirit!
But then again, I'm one of those rare people that likes to focus on the POSITIVE.
I also kind of feel bad for Asami, but I agree with p-girl I want more explanations about the powers and the action rather than the shipping. All that is on my tumblr news feed from my one friend who loves lok and atla is shipping stuff, it drives me crazy.
Yeah, the way people go so crazy over shipping is kind of annoying. I see people fighting over which ship is best all over Tumblr and it gets old after a while.
The episodes of Avatar were thirty minutes as well, but they had more episodes per season to build the story on. (Avatar had 20 per season, whereas Korra only has 12.)
I feel bad for Asami, as well, and I am tired of Mako leading both her and Korra on, and blaming everything that goes wrong on other people. I love the idea of Mako and Korra being together, but it's really annoying that he's hurting so many people by doing what he's been doing.
I can't wait for next week, to see what happens to everyone (especially Lin) and to see what Iroh's character is like!
The whole Mako/Korra/Asami-thing reminds me of Sky/Bloom/Diaspro. And even tough I still think the 4Kids dub made Diaspro too nice, let's face it, Sky was the one to blame here, too.
I'm just afraid that if she does break up with him, she will not want to stay with him, his brother and Korra and will go to her dad and join the equalists. Hopefully she doesn't though, because I like her so far because of her maturity in that situation or for at least not totally freaking out about it. We'll see tomorrow though!!
Best episode of legend of Korra!!! I can't wait for book/season 2
I thought it was really good! I have a feeling Amon isn't really gone though...
And she didn't leave them! I had my doubts about her but Asami just has a beautiful heart. <3
That episode was amazing, my goodness! I knew she would find a way to restore bending! And I had a hunch that Amon was a waterbender, but I wouldn't have ever thought he was Tarrlok's brother! Then near the end Amon shed a tear right before he died... I actually felt pity for him. ); But I'm so happy we got to see Aang, and the avatar state- and of course, Makorra!
okay i'm done.
Yeah I always figured that everyone's bending wasn't fully gone and it could be brought back somehow. I hope there is another season of it!
Geez, what's with me and clinging on to minor characters?
'Uncle Bumi's here!'
Insta-love. But then again, I love every Avatar character that's over fourty. (Iroh, Bumi the 1st. Tenzin, Lin....Bumi the 2nd....)
I love all the adults in the show, too! Except Yakone. He was a psycho. I was really confused yesterday; when Aang took his bending, shouldn't he have been thrown in jail? Instead he had to raise Amon and Tarrlok to hate the Avatar. -.-
I freaked out when their first showed Iroh, clearly a relative of Zuko's. Zuko was my favorite character from the original and I've been waiting all season to see someone related to him, or just to hear the story of Zuko's mom like Katara began saying in the first episode but then was interrupted.
I'm hoping we do eventually, that was my biggest pet peeve about the last episode of Last Airbender.
I was really surprised at how good this was, i am sad that they are only doing 26 episodes.
I just have no idea what the next season will be about at all since the last airbender was kind of one big story plot (trying to defeat the fire lord) over 3 seasons but to me it seems like the wrapped up a lot of stuff in the finale. Of course I can see where they could say somethings aren't finished but I'm just really curious now!
I've had this idea in my mind....
This season was all about an enemy wanting to remove bending, right?
What about.... artificial benders? People that got bending abilities by experimentation or something?
Or would that be a bit too Sci-Fi-ish?
I've always wondered why people couldn't learn bending since actual benders have to learn the skill.
It seems to be a combination of skill and genetics. Kinda like Bloom knowing magic, but still needing Alfea to hone her skills.
I can see how genetics are important. I just think about how metal bending was a learned skill (but that was still by a person who could already earth bend) so idk, I think it would be nice to explain the process more.
There isn't really a problem, the whole point is that it is invented so why couldn't non benders find a way to invent some sort of bending?
...
I don't quite get what you mean.
Invented or not, it's still bending, something you're born with. When bending Metal, you're still technically bending Earth. (The impurities of the earth of which it's made of, remember?)
I guess I have just always viewed it as an acquired skill even with the genetics. Just because you have the technical ability to bend doesn't mean you can just start doing it.
But non-benders can't just start bending, that's my point. If you're not born with it, you can't do it no matter how much you train. Unless there's some sort of intervention.
That's what I've always been hoping for some sort of intervention or revelation about how to learn to bend if you aren't originally a bender.
Did you hear that Korra will be having an additional twenty-some episodes? They'll be making four books!
That's awesome! Can't wait for the next new season to come out!
Oh oh! Where can we see the concept art? o.o
What about bumi? <3
I just want to find out more about Zuko's descendants.
Thanks Kaylin & P-Girl!! <33
Man, I hope 2013 will be here soon *-*
I especially want to finally figure out the story of his mother. Hopefully they find a way to fit it in somehow in the series.
I'm sure they well. As they revealed, there will be a lot of flashbacks coming in future episodes...
Yes! I love the flashback episodes!
Today on campus I saw someone wearing a "Korra 2012" shirt with the Obama logo under it, I thought everyone here would appreciate this lol. I chuckled on the inside when I saw it.
I SO LOVE THIS
unfortunate to say on this forum
id love this way more than winxclub actually
though winxclub is like number 3 anyway
as avatar is 2
1... is pokemon xD
i freaking love avatar
i love it even more than i love winxclub
I have to say I was very skeptical coming into this new series with it being in the future, more industrial, older characters, and on. But... I have to say that even through the love triangle hijinks and the rash nature of the new Avatar, I do actually enjoy the new season very much. It's just so awesome to see more bending action that I can weather the other nagging things that might try to bother me. I hope they leave Republic City in the next season. I'm ready for some worldly traveling like in the original series.
I would love to see other areas of the world now in the future, to see if they are all more modern or not. I feel like that is what is probably going to happen.
It is Relly a good show I Tried to Watch It Everry Saturday at 11am PST
The Fortress put up a take on Korra. http://fortresstakes.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/the-legend-of-korra-2012-season-1-12-episodes/.
We were disappointed with the show overall, though it had its moments. Many of them in the tournament. We found the so-called love interaction horrid.
Cannot they do better with such a good franchise? If you check it out, be sure to read the epic comment left by MC's very own Zhanneel.
Can I say something real quick?
Like or dislike the show, most of us don't like the romance (Me neither.) but....
I think the fandom brought that one upon itself.
I mean, I'm not all that active, but whenever I heard something about the Avatar fandom it was Kataang this, Zutara that (By the spirits, was it Zutara that.). Can you really blame the producers for trying to 'Cash in' on that, so to speak? I know not the entire fandom was that, heck, it's probably not even the majority. But it was the most vocal part.
i can't get into the Avatar series. If you were to ask me what I don't like about it, I wouldn't be able to tell you anything. I guess even in watching a chunk of it the overall plot, setting, characters, ect. never appealed to me.
Avatar (first show, not sequel) didn't appeal to me before. I thought it was boring. My sister loves it really. Well... this was when I was 6 or 7 and I said "I don't like it! I wanna watch Spongebob!" (To this day... I still like Spongebob ) Now that Korra came, I like how the main is a girl and she's as strong and fearless as any other guy in the series. So... basically I like it now ;D
I loved this series! Both the Airbender and Korra! Even me and my colleague waited anticipate for the series (Korra) to came out. When it came out, LOL will blabbering about it.
We even argue who could be this Amon is? Alot speculate, it was Aang Dark side (theory related to the time where Azula attacked by with lightning). I thought at first it had to be Azula since she wanted revenge. Some even speculate it to Aang second son, Bumi who was the only child who didn't obtain any bending abilities like his sibling. Creating this angry sibling rivarly thinking his Mum and Dad loved them more them him.
Who knew turn to be some random guy (with an interesting back story)? Yeah was disappointed but Amon but we (me and my colleague) didn't fail to disappoint us.
We also argue about how long this series would run. Like for Aang 4 episode which goes around the element of Air, Fire, Earth and Water. So what next for Korra?
As i suspected RIGHT, they (Nickelodeon) said Korra season 2 will be more concentrating on the Spiritual Realm which could related too focusing on Korra Avatar state. It also stated that she will be meeting old and new friends.
New Friends as in like her family member in the South/North pole. Old friends, as we all know the original the original cast of the Aang Airbender time.
Can't wait to see it!
As for season 3 and so on, I'm not surprise if the bring Amon back later since he manage to escape in the end of the series.
i dont care what you guys say
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVEEEEE AVATAR
way more than i love winx , thats for sure x]
i love thats its about nature and friendship <3
just like pokemon
those kinda cartoons touch my heart
The trailer for spirits premiered at Comic-Con yesterday, so click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ftLm52V1y0 for Trailer!
*SPOILER BELOW*
I personally thought they did a bad job or teasing fans, the trailer was pretty boring and there was nothing special about it. I think no audio had to do mostly with that. I did like how interesting it was though. Tarlock is back so I wonder how everyone will react to that. I'm also glad there is more avatar state though! It looks exciting and there is going to be more action in Book 2!
I think they just want to keep as much of the plot under wraps as possible. I just want to know when it will be for sure returning, I'm okay with waiting to see it for the surprise.
Looks so cool!!!
It's been so long since book one ended!
I. Can't. Wait. For. Book. Two!!!
TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!!!!!
The Season Finale was on Nick Yesterday, I'm not sure if it was a glitch or what but it was there for anyone who might want to go watch it. http://www.nick.com/videos/playlist/play/legend-of-korra-book-2-125-126-playlist.html Here is the link! I won't discuss it for anyone who hasn't seen it but let's just say it was truly one of the best season finales and episodes in general for the whole Avatar brand. This season was really really good and the writers did an amazing job
While I admit I gave up on Korra pretty fast.... (I wanted to smack Mako every time he was on screen.) I watched the entire last Season and I loved it. Mostly because of Prince Wu, who became my favorite character of the entire show almost instantly. It was really awesome to watch him grow up and mature.
Korra.. I loved the show. Brilliantly written (for the most part)... the only thing I think of that was 'meh' was the end of the last season. The giant mecha was a bit.. over the top and not believable.
