i mean why the X in particular??!!

Because poor literacy is Kewl!

Linkara references aside, I think it's just like the fact that Bratz ends with a Z instead of an S. Y'know, to sound hip and unique. I tolerate it with Winx more, because they put some taught in the transformations, just not the name, sometimes (I really liked it they called something 'Sophix').

I don't have the screencap, but when Bloom made the Winx sign in season 1, she made their wings look like the X. And in the comic (http://winxcomics.livejournal.com/37243.html#cutid1) Stella says Wings as its short, and Bloom finds an effective way to write it out (and they look like wings).

Because they're fairies. Why shouldn't they have powers in their wings? It's the one part of their transformation that's not human. To me, it makes perfect sense that it's where they store their magic.
