Magix Club's Forum _ Member Teams _ Roxy Protection League

Posted by: P-girl Mar 5 2009, 10:14 PM

Ever since Roxy arrived on stage (Or in magazine scans), she's been met with weariness, distrust and even accusations that can't be backed up, such as Sue-ness, screen-time hogging and looking to much like Tecna based on hair-color alone.
I think this is sad, because we didn't even get a chance to know her as a character, and she, like the Team's undertitle says, at least deserves a chance.

I hereby open the Roxy Protection League, vouching for cutting the girl some slack, and for being open-minded and welcoming to change, not closed-up and weary.

Everyone who shares this taught is welcome to join.

*signs up*

Until Roxy's character is actually *shown*, it's not our place to judge. She does indeed deserve a chance.

Posted by: humbu111 Mar 5 2009, 11:20 PM

[noguests]She definately deserves a chance. But I dont think anyone has anything personal against Roxy, and are simply basing their doubts on past experience.[/noguests]

Posted by: MorriganAensland Mar 5 2009, 11:31 PM

You'd be surprised.

There are plenty of instances where the audience's opinion of a character determines what happens to them. In Code Geass, minor villain Jeremiah Gottwald was supposed to die in episode 10, but people took such a liking to him that the writers decided to spare him. He got some serious character development as a result and ended up surviving the whole series, joining up with the hero at the midpoint of season 2 and getting to live quietly for the rest of his life with a woman he loved.

Compare that with Katz Kobayashi from Zeta Gundam, who fans hated profusely and ended up dying due to sheer incompetence near the end of his series.

Ya know what P-Girl u r absolutley right i didn't get to know her iam in

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Mar 6 2009, 2:51 AM

I'm in. Good idea! I've personally always kinda liked the looks of Roxy. I hope she's as cool as she looks.

Posted by: Zhanneel Mar 6 2009, 3:30 AM

Well of course I'm in. After all, I'm reserving my judgment on the whole Believix transformations so of course I'll do the same for Roxy. As a character she will be great. Straffi hasn't really made a character I don't like yet. However, thanks to 4kids choice of Layla's voice actor...well, that's another story altogether. =p (Just wasn't in tune with the ghetto-sounding quality, lol)

I'm in too. We haven't even met her yet. People gave the supposed 'Sarah and Selma' a chance before Season 3 started. I'm just hoping she won't turn out like Abby in the BSC. Otherwise I'll be happy.

Thanks for your support, everyone.

Don't forget Waspy! Beast Machine's lovable chew toy has been kept from dying for real by his large fanbase. (Me included)
And don't forget Ironhide wouldn't be in the line-up for the Live-Action Movie if it wasn't for the fans, and a lot of sequel appearances sound like fanbased decisions as well. (Especially Soundwave)

Even Winx isn't immune. Who's Believix we got to see first? Bloom's, Flora's and Stella's, the target audience's favorites. Not to mention Flora took centre stage in their fashion presentation, most likely due to this reason.

ok, i am tempted to join but as i am on the fence (which i hired a seat for to be more comfy in my long (maybe forever) wait for season 4). I feel i cannot join as i am swaying either way until I have seen more

Posted by: Another Morning Mar 6 2009, 6:30 PM

Hmm...as I've said, I only question the animator's choice in her hair color. As a character, I hold nothing against Roxy. So I'm in.

Posted by: dittadulla Mar 6 2009, 6:51 PM

I'm in ^^. Roxy deserves a chance.

Posted by: Tom273 Mar 6 2009, 9:41 PM

yes, she deserves a chance so im gonna join too.

Posted by: winxtecna Mar 7 2009, 1:04 AM

I'm in! I totally think Roxy deserves a chance.

Posted by: fullmoon Mar 9 2009, 9:39 PM

Weird. I actually think Roxy is going to be a great character and am awaiting to see her in the show for the first time. I haven't really thought that much about her hair color.

I join!

Really? I never cared that much about Jeremiah. I just remember him because he was always called "Orange".

yep and i have a feeling she will have a great personality too.

Posted by: iluvcodyhaynes9 Mar 10 2009, 11:25 PM

I'm in... this is a great idea...

And does anybody ABSOLUTLY know what power she has? Or might possibly have? Just wondering.... :]

Posted by: Zhanneel Mar 11 2009, 12:06 AM

Well, we're still in the "is she a fairy or not?" stage. So until we found out whether she officially is a fairy, we don't know. If she is, I'm sure we're all thinking animal communication powers.

Posted by: humbu111 Mar 11 2009, 11:54 PM

[noguests]Yeah, according to some info card, she'll have animal related powers... but we'll have to wait to see for sure. [/noguests]

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Mar 12 2009, 12:53 AM

I think animal related powers is a sneaky way of trying to get those fluffy bunny and bear things to be popular...

Posted by: P-girl Mar 12 2009, 7:51 AM

Guys, guys. We don't even know if she has powers. That part of the info was fan speculation, remember? The official card only says she LOVES animals.

...... I'm an avid Transformer collector, they have a lot of non-show figures. I'm going to wait with saying 'Roxy is a fairy' until I see her like one in the show.

And even so; her a fairy doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Posted by: fullmoon Mar 12 2009, 9:31 PM

I think it would be cool if she was something other than a fairy. Maybe even a wtich. But again, I'm fine if she is fairy. It won't affect whether I like her or not.

Animal powers kind of remind me of Tokyo Mew Mew or some pixie is made up before for a forum thing. She also had pink hair and had animalish powers.

Posted by: Zhanneel Mar 12 2009, 10:26 PM

I think I agree with you Fullmoon. Something other than a fairy would be interesting. Like a ...hey! Why not a female warrior! That would have been awesome. She could be slaying demons and other evil beings under the noses of normal Earthlings, and no one the wiser. xD

Additionally: Or perhaps if she is some type of magical being she could be a shape shifter. That would work great with her love for animals.

Posted by: P-girl Mar 12 2009, 10:28 PM

That would be awesome. The only true physical female warrior we had was Amentia (And she was awesome, I mean, she kicked Sky's behind to Omega and back).

Posted by: Zhanneel Mar 12 2009, 10:48 PM

I have to agree. As much as Amentia was annoying, she made well with her fighting skills. We need more female warriors!

Posted by: humbu111 Mar 12 2009, 11:07 PM

[noguests]Yeah, I'd like to see some more female warriors, but also dudes with magic. [/noguests]

Posted by: P-girl Mar 12 2009, 11:09 PM

They got Ophir/Nabu in the boyfriend department, now.

Posted by: Zhanneel Mar 13 2009, 12:06 AM

Yep, we could use more dudes with magic too, as Humbu puts it ^^. We need more of both. And we also need to know more about magicians in general. Poor Nabu/Ophir. I hope he gets a small chunk of the plot.

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Mar 13 2009, 12:54 AM

Not just Nabu, all the specialists for that matter.

It could be something like "Okay girls have fun on earth. Bye see ya!"

We've only seen Brandon on earth. We don't know anything about the other guys. They might only get like 2 episodes.

Posted by: fullmoon Mar 13 2009, 1:45 AM

Yea. That is true. Basically, we want the show to be more diverse and less centered around just the Winx Club in a way. The title of the show is "Winx Club" though so the story is always always sticking to them (for the most part). So if they go to earth, I doubt they will show what would be happening back in Alfea. I'm just saying what I think. If only there was a spin-off.

O_O We are straying off the topic of Roxy!

Posted by: winxclubrox23 Mar 13 2009, 2:03 AM

Yeah, Roxy...ok um...

She seems okay? haha! Okay pathetic topic starter.

Posted by: Tom273 Mar 14 2009, 10:54 AM

Roxy will be a very cool fairy. Here's what's gonna happen to my favorite fairies list:

1,Bloom (forever)
2,Roxy!
3,Musa
4,Stella
5,Layla
6,Tecna
7,Flora

Lol, I like your positivity Tom, but how can you be sure that she's going to be that great a character?

Posted by: P-girl Mar 14 2009, 11:01 AM

Yeah.... I opened this because people started counting their chickens before they hatched. THis is.... well, a bit of the same. wink.gif
