I just thought about something sitting here at my desk for a moment; ok, remember in the first season when bloom and her parents go to magix and her parents can't go through the barrier that surrounds that world even though she can because she's a magical being and they weren't? Well I was also thinking about when Brandon and the guys went with Layla on the mission to Shadowhaunt and Ms. Faragonda said they didn't have powers to lose. I know they do telekenesis with the dragons, but other than that, they really don't have any sort of magic ability - just fighting right? Is it because of their lineage possibly that they're allowed within Magix? blink.gif Just want a bit of clarification for this about the Red Fountain guys.

We can say they have magic, but not powers.

Powers are powerful, while just having magic isn't that powerful, it is like a skill. You can learn how to do things, but you wont ever be as good as people who are born into it?

3 ideas

idea 1: they have special passes that you need to get (like swipe cards are needed to enter some buildings)

idea 2: some people cannot do magic but everyone has magic inside them it just does not work for some reason though earth people lost that at some point in there history.

idea 3: they believe in magic and thats why they can move around without trouble like belivix was powered up by people believeing in magic as they believe in magic they emit an aura (or something like this) which allows them through

What's the difference between magic and powers? So you're saying magic's something you can learn and power is something you're born with? 0.o

@ idea #2 : But Stella and the girls explained that everyone in Magix - I guess the town part - had magic powers they could use for anything they wanted at anytime, unlike them, they were a bit more restricted in the use of their abilities

idea #3: Ahhh...ok.

Like my argument in why there are witches and fairies: it's all a matter of choice. I think most, if not all people in Magix have magic, some just don't choose to act on it. And it seems that Magix has a tradition of Girls = Magic, Boys= physical combat.

If I remember correctly throughout season 1 Red Fountain is mention to be a school for wizards. (Miss F talking about the schools at breakfast in the episode with the ball in season 1)

So RF might actually train wizards but as none of the boys (besides Nabu) show signs of having powers or interested in training as a wizard so we don't get to see that part of RF.

Again this is Winx Club we are talking about it and it isn't the best written show.

in the final battle of season 1 at red fountain there were no signs of magic from the specialsts only trix and saladin, they may train them but i would have thought we would have seen signs then

I think I agree with what some people are saying, that specialists probably have "magic" in them simply because they were born in the magical dimension, but that doesn't necessarily manifest itself in having actual magical abilities.

Yeah, I agree with AM. It could be as simple as "If your born in the Magical Dimension, be my guest and come on into Alfea."
