Ebony really, though in several screen-shots that I've worked off, she's more orange than anything. I took the character colours from the mid-range of shots that I have archived!

IT'S THE EFFING GUYVER!!!!!!
Okay, that's awesome. I remember when I was like...12, drawing awesome guyver pics. lol.
Guyver is old school, and awesome. You drew an awesome, old school guyver. You are awesome. I love logic.

Just noticed the Dungeons and Dragon tribute. That looks so great =). Will you be a professional illustrator/animator or maybe you already are? It's a great hobby, but for your effort you should be getting paid, lol.

Damn right I should be getting paid lol laugh.gif It would be great if I was, but I doubt in my current state, that will be viable just yet, I need to go through some serious practice before I go professional! I got my Bachelor of Arts Degree in animation 4 years ago now, and I am rather out of practice icon_sad.gif Though good job I won't be out of practice from my Diploma of Art & Design icon_biggrin.gif

In regarding my D&Dc tribute... well, I may have said they will be the last images, but that's of chapter 2, chapter 1 is still a go to a certain extent... so, here are two of my turning point pages:

http://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ch1page05gv9.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ch1page06gi7.jpg

I call them turning point pages, as I stopped doing these as I saw I was still being rather 1D in places, went off and did some practice, then came back to finish them. So I hope you like them.... even for their defects unsure.gif icon_surprised.gif

Oh, and the lady in the last frame on the second page is my take on Presto's mother(we never saw her in the series and I wanted to do something a little diferent).

Posted by: Zhanneel Jun 15 2008, 4:00 AM

Fabulous icon_wink.gif. I really ought to watch the whole series again as I've forgotten most of it, but nothing a little wikipedia browsing can't fix. Again though, excellent work. And if you can't get a job on your skills then the world is blind. Seriously, look at the smut that cartoon network and nickelodeon have been producing lately. You should easily be able to top their drawing skills...but then again, I'm not the the idiot wagging my finger and making decisions for future programming. The comics are a great way to get around that and still be able to put your own imagination into your work. I've only recently gotten into comics (namely western-influenced ones), so I'm coming around to the idea that they can be enjoyable =P.

No, I don't do this sort of thing for a living, which is annoying as I am wasting my 3 Diploma's in art, Film & TV Design and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in animation.... but that's life, it sucks icon_rolleyes.gif

It has been a while since I posted any art... sorry about that, though to start, a Winx wallpaper I was doing a while back, which I managed to post some of the characters on their own for, but never the whole thing, plus some other pics of mine icon_biggrin.gif

BTW, the second-to-last pic is a redrawing of my character 'Zentron', which I designed from way back when, and from where I get my username wink.gif

I did not know you were into D&D Zhanneel. It can be quite fun with the right group and mindset, really bringing out one's creativity. I am sure that local establishments that host weekend games would be eager to welcome a female playa.

Of course, it is a hobby that is sometimes made fun of. Like with the "shooting the magic missile at the darkness" video. C'est la Vie!

Posted by: Zhanneel Aug 18 2010, 12:02 AM

These old posts are coming back to haunt me! Someone outed me on the D&D past. >_> Okay...or lack of, as of yet. (However, I have a short history with LARPing...)

As to what Fort is talking about regarding a funny Magic Missle parody is through youtube. I would link it here, but it it's more PG-13, in one or two references. However, do a youtube search for "An 8-Bit Reenactment of Dungeons and Dragons". ALL fantasy lovers would get a kick out of it. Just watch out for the Mountain Dew Fighter.

And now back to Zen! You've made some very nice additions to this topic since I've been away. Your self-named Zentron character serious buckled attire. I like those big boots. The victory fist is classic. The Robocop picture? You did all of that shading? That's fantastic. And maybe one of my favorites is the Conan picture because it's Conan! Animated Conan too, double awesome.

I decided to do a proper redraw my character Zentron, after a wait of just 16 years. And yes, I did all of that RoboCop shading, completely by hand of course, and with a clumbsy mouse too icon_biggrin.gif And finally, Conan, I actually did that a good few months ago, when I got the first season on DVD, I decided to do my own take of that moment in the title sequence.... though now I have the whole series onb DVD, which I got from America and I am very happy about that icon_biggrin.gif

Posted by: Zhanneel Aug 18 2010, 10:32 PM

I cannot believe you are not getting paid for this work. Or maybe you were at one time? Or maybe you finally are not that's it been a while since I've been here, ha. Your creations blow most prime time animes and animated kids shows out of the water. I am wowed every time I look at the RoboCop shading. Pardon my exuberance again, but it's really good! Don't animation and gaming companies know a good thing when we (the audience peons) see one? In one way or another I hope you get some awesome recognition.

Posted by: Zentron Aug 18 2010, 11:23 PM

Nope... not getting paid a single penny icon_sad.gif I just do it because I wants to icon_biggrin.gif

Again, glad you like, here's a couple of work inprogress... they're around 75-80% done, I just need some more free time to get them done completely! Anywayz, here you go:

http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q232/Zentron/RVT/?action=view&current=DestroyComplexBGPreview3.jpg http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q232/Zentron/RVT/?action=view&current=PeepShow.jpg
The first is a backround image which will have about 3 tripod Terminators walking along the ground, one which will very impressively walk into the frame. The second is part of a short panning sequence, showcasing my work with multiple light sources in movement, think lights from passing cars, street lights etc, and you'll be about there icon_wink.gif

Hope they please, even though they are just WIPs icon_cool.gif

Well, just one, before I post my pic of Bloom icon_biggrin.gif

Hey, that is a nice work up of Sheila. I am glad to see another fan of that show. Some of the episodes were rather serious.

Have you done any other colour art like this?

Anyway, keep it up as you seem to enjoy it and are good at it. You captured a lot of that 80's style in your colouring.

Posted by: Zentron Jan 21 2011, 8:34 PM

Thanks, and of course, I did a pic of Diana a while ago, I just finished colouring my pic of Hank, now I just need to do the background!

Here is my pic of DIana:

Here's a work-in-progress pic, so you can see how I do some of my pics:

Notice that some of the strands are just flat colour in this pic? That's because I am using my technique of 'dodge & burn'!

This technique involves laying down the base flat colour (in the shape of what needs to be), then using the 'burn' tool, I darken the flat colour into various shades where I need to, and using some creative switching between the 3 burn settings (Highlights, Midtones & Shadow), I can vary the colour of the shading as well.

Now when the burning is done, I then use the 'dodge' tool to create the highlights, again by switching between the dodge settings (same as the burn ones), I can vary the colour of the highlights as well. The result of all this, is what you see above! I hope this has been somewhat informative icon_wink.gif

Well, for the last few pictures, I did them purely in Photoshop, though normally, I draw my image on paper, scan the lines in and then add the colour with Photoshop!

Right, well, another pic done the same way, draw in pencil, scanned into the computer and coloured in Photoshop:

In no particular order, the characters are: Alex from Totally Spies, Daphne from Scooby-Doo, Kim Possible, Diana from Dungeons & Dragons animated series and Cyana Baahra from Malo Korrigan.

Hope you like icon_biggrin.gif
