So I was totally inspired to make this after watching this one TMNT panel which includes Mike Sinterniklaas (Riv) and John Campbell (Brandon? Sky? I'm 95% sure Brandon but the panel could have been when Brandon was pretending to be Sky)

Anyways...Mike said that Riven's the bad a** (I probably could have gotten away with writing that out but I wasn't sure how old some of the kids on here are) of Winx Club and he has Han Solo pants! I like pretty much fell on the floor laughing.

But personally I think the voices are much better in 4kids! So yeah guys...have at 'er!

Well, I'll put my two cents in now before this thread goes crazy.

I do like the 4kids actors better. I know I criticize them for over-acting at times, but sometimes I think that has more to do with the scripting than anything else. If we could just put the Rai script with the 4kids actors I'm sure that would be the best result. And at times I do like over-the-top acting. It gets the point across that this person is tough, or this person is super sweet. For a kids show that works. As long as they don't try to apply that logic to more mature shows it's all good.

That all most summed up my entire opinion in a short paragraph. But what I think is if they did a script sort of like the movie (the English one that's been put on youtube from Germany) That script is sort of a mix of both. The 4kids part being like talking modernly (for example Riven says "What the heck is that?" in the movie) and the Rai part being not going over the top "Captain Obvious" which 4kids often does. Plus I do think some of the cuts 4kids makes are decent so in Charmix we don't have to watch a 360Ëš butt shot or something like that.

Lol, 360 degree butt shot. Point taken yep. Which reminds me: I don't like how 4kids cut/changed the music. That kind of peeves me. Not everything has to be localized. The music was good in the original Rai version I thought.

The movie was pretty good. Scripting was not too dumbed down, though I wish they wouldn't localize some things. I like not hearing "Oh my gosh!" and "Score one for the Timmy-meister!" or some other phrases that have been over done throughout 4kids, and in general all kids programming. Still, it's better than not having the dubbed movie either.

Yeah. I love when Stella says "Oh My Gosh" it's just her personality. The 4kids sound effects are good but the music could be better. I hate how they changed the original Fairy Dust song! That is the coolest music! I have it on my ipod!

and like I've said a billion and three time: I would have liked if they used the same script from the movie but done the 4kids voices. The 4kids voices own!

I'm also not sure why they gave Layla a southern belle accent? That still boggles me. Especially since I can't fathom why anyone on Andros would have a Texan-like accent. That was odd to me, lol.

Oh I LOVED her accent! Like come on! Tecna is the only one with an accent. They could have at least had a variety. Bloom sounded like the 4kids Musa at times, which was really quite confusing.

Well, I wouldn't have minded the Texan addition if they had done it in the show as well. The new voice just came out of left field, lol. I have nothing against Southern Belle accents themselves, just that I had no idea why they gave Layla one when she didn't have it in any other dubs.

Yeah that's like what I meant. She should have had it all along. It suits her.

Dan Green does Sky's voice. I only remember because YuGiOh Abridged did a whole video about how he does Yugi's voice, and Yugi's voice and Sky's voice sound alike becaue they're both Dan Green =D

And like I said in that other topic over there, I'm used to the 4kids, so when I listen to Rai clips, the voices all sound pretty similar to me and I sometimes get confused as to who's talking, especially if they're not onscreen.

i think the 4kids voices are a LOT better! i really like Icy's voice in the 4kids version, i heard a few parts of some of the voices in the rai version, and i'm like "okay, no" lol! Icy;s the evil villain; her voice has to have depth and MEANING! her voice in the rai version is just like blah. they shoulda re-thought who voiced her!

Are you kidding me? The 4kids voices are so too much. It like they have to have voice that exactly describes person. And each character is using SO MANY phrases that its annoying! (like that schnoomums, or whatever thing) They sound like empty-headed princesses (sorry for being so harsh, there are couple of thing that 4kids improved, ie provided reasons for some mistakes that rai people made, eg no riven and helia at stella's ball, but generally they took good cartoon and made it too much mushy) But than, again, I might be too old for cartoons

Correction: there is one voice I adore and that's Tecna (british accent), and I could get used to musa, but layla is way too much

I think it's all a matter of what you're used to. I'm used to the Dutch voices, so I prefer those.

I am with you WCR regarding the 4Kids voices. Sometimes cheesy and over the top, but distinct and likable. Especially Tecna's accent. Yes, Like Zhan said, the localization scripting needed help and contributed to the problems.

How about Baltor's voice? I liked it. And Griffen, hers too. Even the stereotyped over the top Griselda was fun in her own way.
