Season 5 Final thoughts, Spoilers Options

Well Season 5 is over and I would be interested to hear peoples opinions of the whole season and where it ranks overall.

Well for me it is 4th over all behind season 3, 1 and 2 but ahead of season 4.

The good bits were how we got to see a lot of the magic dimention and the feelings of each Realm to each other. I also enjoyed the story and liked the idea of the challenges to show the Winx deserved Sirenix. I also liked how it seemed more Risky to get and use the new powers unlike the others (I know saving someone is a bit risky for Enchantix). Even if the Risk seemed rather reduced as the curse of Sirenix never really seemed to exist apart from Polita and Daphne.

The bad the ending never really great (this seams a common problem for this series). The Selkies were useless and not fit to defend a portal. Them combined with 2 transformations where the difference between them was a wish and an outfit change and a slight power increase, was more like a marketing exercise to sell more toys. Also the season never seemed to have any flow it seemed to have a bit of time pressure for getting Sirenix but for the end it never felt like there was any urgency. The constant side tracking when it seemed the Winx needed to be more focused on the mission at hand. Things like that have a time and a place. Also the Bloom and Sky drama as always was unwanted and the attempt to pair off Aisha and Roy. Flora going to far on the don't hurt (what ever was attacking the Winx at the time

The annoying was the constant Eco friendly vibe. It was just a pain and something that it thrown at us everyday in are normal lives.

Despite all that I did enjoy this season

It was ok. Definitely not as good as Seasons 2 and 4 for me but I enjoyed it more than Season 3. The main problem is that they tried to make a character development Season when Nick should have just dubbed Season 2. Sirenix did not make them any more powerful. Enchantix allowed the girls to fight against Valtor, Believix allowed the girls to fight the Wizards. Sirenix allowed the girls to swim freely underwater without being slowed down by pollution.......but their power never upgraded.

I thought S5 was so-so. On one hand, we finally got to see Zenith, and Tec finally got another good focus episode. I also didn't mind the eco message that much. OTOH, it also suffered from one of the main problems with S3: Coming up with potentially interesting characters (Krystal) and ideas (the Sirenix curse) and proceeding to mostly ignore them (in S5's case, along with those from previous seasons). Overall, I'd rank S5 ahead of only S3: 2 > 1 > 4 > 5 > 3.
I hope that S6 is better written at least... Just because the show's aimed at a younger audience doesn't mean the writing should be of less quality.

It was okay. It mostly suffered from a blah-villain. (But hey, look at the bright side, at least I have a defense when people go Darkar = worse villain EVAR!. I can point to Tritannus.) and retcon-itus.

Over all the season was okay. I would rank the seasons with maybe 1 or 3 first, 3,5 then 4. I did enjoy seeing all the other Relms and stuff. I think it would have been better of it was more about the mission the all the drama and stuff. It made the season a little bland and I don't know it just wasn't nessecary. I really hope Nabu comes back though, I want him and Aisha to get back together! Roy seems cool but it's just not the same. I also didn't like the first half then they had harmonix especially! Everything was so predictable and boring! When they got Sirenix things were NOT AS predictably as the first half. But anyway I like I said it was an Okay season.

I really hope Nabu won't return. If there's one thing I loathe about fantasy stories, it's their wishy-washy ways with Death. Nothing can send my blood boiling then a story where Death just become a small inconvenience. And to it's major credit, despite some hiccups, Winx has done admirable to not fall in this trap. Either keeping it vague wether or not characters were actually dead (Bloom's parents) or actively saying that NO, wishing people back to life is not how things should be (Musa's mother). One of the hardest and most important lessons to learn in life is that Death is permanent. And that we have to accept it, in order to be at peace with it. No matter how painful and unfair it might seem. Death is a part of life and should be treated with respect and gravity. Not something that can get better if you just want it enough. I'm glad that Winx seems to realize that.

I completely agree P-girl. Although there have been temporary deaths like Sky in Season 2 and his Father in Magical Adventure, Winx has handled the death of characters rather well. Musa had two opportunities to bring her mother back but she knew it was the wrong thing to do. I do wish that Aisha at least had the chance of deciding whether or not to bring Nabu back instead of having to be forced to use her wish on Naraius. Hopefully in Season 6 Roy and Aisha can have a heart to heart moment about Nabu.

Also let's talk about Roy. I know a lot of people aren't fond of him, but he could turn out to be a rather cool character. He is obviously now the beefcake of the specialists (notice how All of the Specialists except maybe Brandon have been buffed down this Season while the animators don't hesitate to give Roy a rippling physique.). He is also (like Nabu) shown to be a more capable fighter. I think he is my favorite male character next to Brandon. Helia disappointed me this Season, but I know it's because of bad writing.

Did anyone else notice that Daphne's Sirenix color scheme is what Roxy's would have been (Green). I thought it would have been gold.

I didn't know what colour Daphne would be but maybe they decided Gold to to close to Stella and Blooms colour. Also I think Roxy is going to get nothing more than cameos from now on.
