Big fan of them...So, anyone else ever done anything a little different than usual with their locks?

Like gotten an unusual cut? Or maybe dyed it an ungodly colour? Styled it differently?

Surely I'm not the only weirdo on this board *No comment on that, k?*

I've have had quite a few in the last couple of years.

Two years ago I had a mohawk-thingy *never spiked it*

And now I have almost the complete opposite *dreads. And YES, I do wash them. Don't believe that 'you can't wash dreads' myth, total lie*

Also from a couple years ago, I bought some freezing spray and went nuts.

No one can argue with me now, RIVEN HAIR IS POSSIBLE!!!

So yeah, anyone else a freak? =D

I love interesting hair colors and styles :3 A few years ago, I dyed by hair bright red with a big white streak in the front, that was fun. Right now, It's...hard to explain what I have XD If I can ever figure out how to get the pictures off our camera, I can post them. I sort of have the top layer cut in a bob that I normally use my straightener to flip out, and then a longer layer under that, and the side bangs.

Nice hair, Riven-like looks cool^^ Right now i want to color my hair in white colour, but i don't think my parents will approve that XD

^^ Thanks :3

I've never dyed mine white before, but if you're thinking about it there's some customer testimonials on the Manic Panic site for their virgin snow product.

The dreads look sweet :3 I've always thought they looked cool. But there was a guy in my math class who didn't wash them and he always smelled funny D: So I like the kind where people keep them clean.

As for hair coloring, I've never tried them myself, but I've heard that henna gives you a very vibrant, deep red, natural indigo gives a really nice purple, and mixing them makes a good dark black. And it's supposed to be more healthy for your hair than regular dye. But, I've also heard some people say it dried their hair out. It might change from person to person.

Ha! Somebody should have told him that not washing actually slows down the maturation process of your dreads xD

I think part of the myth of 'you never have to wash them' comes from the fact that you have to wash them less.

Brushing normal hair is what contributes to making it greasy, but since you don't brush dreads a lot less grease is produced. Like, I've actually gone about 4 days without washing my hair since I got them (not a normal practice though since I LOVE washing them. But I can get away with it).

Hmmm...henna sounds interesting. Lush sells some henna based dyes that look interesting...

Yeah, everyone's hair is different. My hair frizzes up like crazy after bleaching, but my sisters won't. A lot of it is how people treat their hair in general though, along with the type.

One of my sisters friends is this little scene kid with a god-awful scene mullet, so she's been known to bleach it to the brink of death. This kids hair is sooooo fried looking most of the time, I'm surprised her straightener does burn her hair right off! xD I don't think she uses any conditioner...

Posted by: Another Morning Jun 21 2009, 4:01 AM

That was one of the drawbacks of my white streak, was that the hair I bleached was kind of crunchy D:

But there was this girl at my school who would dye her hair about once a month, and always something extreme, like bubblegum pink to electric blue, and her hair didn't seem fried at all. I have no idea how she managed that.

I think as long as you deep condition your hair, it shouldn't end up really fried. A few of my friends put bright pink in their hair and it didn't seem fried at all.

This is the magazine page I brought into the salon when I got my hair cut, and it looks pretty much exactly like that when I put the effort into getting the spiky parts. The only real difference is color.

Hmm, no picture is showing up, it might just be me though.

Edit: I think it is just me, I dont think emoticons are showing up either, same with a bunch of people' siggies :S

Edit2: Yep, it is my problem cause I can see it from Mozilla. Its an awesome hairstyle!

@ Another Morning: OHHHHHHH FLIPPPY GOODNESS

My mom got my hair to do that once...But I've never been able to figure it out! xD

Posted by: Another Morning Jun 22 2009, 7:32 PM

Yeah, I normally have my mom wield the straightener, too XD I can get the left side to look right, by whenever I try it myself, the right side comes out all chunky and uneven x___x And I gotta use a bit of spray or it falls all limp and dead after about half an hour.
