Too true, the Specialist wind rider competition made me nostalgic for that Season 1 episode where the guys rode the dragons at Red Fountain. Now if only we could have kept the entire episode at the wind rider competition instead of segregating it into micro bits and silly quests that a 2 year old could solve.
I'm glad we're coming to an end on these Gem quests, so maybe that's why I was able to stomach this episode more so than the previous ones. That and the Trix were more prominent and had a bigger fight scene, that was a bonus. But they need to be, um, better at being bad though? They kind of stink as evil baddies anymore. And Icy is just pathetic now... she should be kicked out of the Trix. If she evil baby-talks Tritannus one more time... x_x
Wow, the torturing Daphne scene! That was intense, I'm actually surprised it got past the sensors. Good to see some classic, real evil intent. The Trix do need to have more successes though, that's what makes a show great and dramatic. The good guys can't win every battle, yet the Winx seem to always overcome. Meh... You've got to have a crescendo of events, there have to be some more set backs.
Okay, only one more Selkie lovey dovey bonding scene to go! One more incredibly easy gem quest to go on. Then maybe, MAYBE there is some plot development coming up soon to enjoy again.

This episode was a bit painful to watch. I agree, the Daphne torture scene was definitely more intense than we could have hoped for, but I still don't think it makes much sense for them to be able to hurt her :S It was nice to see the trix being evil again though like they used to be. The beginning scene was finally on par with things from the first 3 seasons like Icy scratching the ice that Bloom was encased in, or the scene where they stole the dragonfire including dropping Mike and Vanessa into that pit, slamming Musa around with cars, crushing Galatea's wings, etc.
Other than that torture scene though, the trix have been seriously pathetic this season. All they do most of the time is talk, and when they finally had some action it was horrid. They could push around Flora by being invisible, but couldn't sneak up on Bloom, knock her out, and teleport her away? And what happened to the season finale of season 1 where Alfea actually had "the best fairies from all of Magix" who wouldn't run screaming from 3 lions? It was pathetic, the teachers if not anyone else should have been able to take care of the lions in a split second. And why didn't the trix use their invisibility spell at the end when fighting the whole Winx Club? It would be a huge advantage rather than giving up so fast.
Also, yeah Abby, I don't know why they kept saying Sky was the best wind-rider (formerly known as levi-bike) rider when that was always Riven's specialty.
It was a redeeming factor when Bloom and Sky decided that the past didn't matter when they still had the present and the future. I also liked the "carnivorous flower" bit, and the Ocean of Flowers looked pretty amazing. But overall this episode was a big disappointment. When Stella exclaimed, "Aww, they're bonding!", Darcy's words of wisdom come to mind: "Gag me!"

Well, I gave this one a two.
Out of all the episodes this season, it was easily the weakest. First of all, why were they holding a specialist-like competition at Alfea? Why not have some air time at Red Fountain? We've barely seen it at all this season, and it deserves some love! The fact that they were going on about Sky being amazing at wind-riding was ridiculous. Sure, he was good, but Riven has always been the best. In season 1, he would have won the race had Darcy not interfered, then again in season 2, he won the friendly race to Alfea to see the girls (I believe the stakes involved the losers doing the winner's laundry?) And honestly, would they really let a guy who has no idea how to operate a bike enter a race involving fire obstacles? Unlikely.
I hated how easy the quest was. Magical plant turns evil, the Winx are each hit once, Flora saves the day, hurrah, we all go home now. Granted, they've all been more or less like that, but this one was especially painful to watch. Aside from the torture scene, the Trix were extremely pathetic, as per usual. What happened to season 1 where they pretty well took over all of Magix, stole Bloom's powers and destroyed Red Fountain all in one go? As the seasons go by, you would think that as they gain more experience, they would gain power as well. I guess we'll have to see with Sirenix.
Also, did anyone else notice that Bloom has a poster of Flora in her bedroom, and one of herself as well? Because that's not narcissistic at all.

Omg yeah I noticed the posters, I totally forgot to comment on them! To be honest I don't think the posters themselves are that big a deal because it's pretty similar to having pictures of yourself on your wall which is pretty normal. But the fact that they're signed posters just kills me lol, why would you sign a picture of yourself hanging on your own wall xD. The only other person (fictional or not) who I've heard of doing that is Lockhart from Harry Potter LOL =|
And good point about the competition being at Alfea, I never thought about that but you're totally right. Also, I know it's a minor thing, but Musa being the one to say "Go!" for the competition annoyed me, they've been giving the Winx tooo much importance lately and it's like no one else at Alfea is capable or matters at all, including the teachers.
Also, I agree about this task seeming even easier and lamer than the rest. Especially the riddle.
