I caught up with the rest of the episodes I missed. But I finally got to watch today's episode! I totally love the opening! xD I love this episode as it's getting the best of all! =D When at the end..I was like "No! Don't leave us hanging....now we have to wait for Fall of 2013. " At least I'm so happy they still have the 2D Form when in Magic Dimension, while the Infinite Ocean is for 3D. =) ....I still...need to get use to their facial expressions...-_-" I still don't like their eyes in 3D! >.<" Mainly Musa's and Flora's eyes didn't look right. =S I missed the ones from The Secret of the Lost Kingdom and Magical Adventure. =( But overall the 3D still looks great. Though, I'm so confused with the new colored hair style? What is the purpose of them? They look....um....so..weird with the colors? =S At least...well..it will fade away later on? I hope. It's so sad we will have to wait for Fall of 2013. -_-" That's a long way to go to finish the rest of the 13 Episodes. =/ Well I understand....it seems that the 3D process is more work. So it could be possible they are still not done with the remaining episodes in 3D. At least...we still have to watch the Christmas Episode (Part of Episode 10 of Season 5) closer to Christmas time. =D Can't wait! Then Magical Adventure on Spring Time....and a long gap to the remaining of Season 5.

LOL, nice pics Kendall. That bottom picture emphasizes my feelings perfectly. Okay, here's my weigh-in critiquing of this episode, and yeah, it's a DOOZY. What can I say? I am a passionate writer. : ) I agree with everyone when I saw "Holy asldkjkladg" the Selkies are doing damage?! Surprising, but too bad it didn't last. Maybe they should stay in teams from now on, get the most bang for their buck. *Rolling eyes* Okay, why haven't Darcy and Stormy revolted from Icy yet? Seriously. Icy ditches them for a guy just about every season now and they are the riffraff left behind. No respect I tell ya... You'd think they'd have revolted by now after so many seasons of this. And aren't they supposed to have the powers of the ancestral witches? Why are they still so weak even in this season? Hmm, dark Sirenix? Now where have I seen something like that fail in the past? *cough cough Disenchantix COUGH* Oh man, and that was uuuugly too. Poor Trix. I remember when they were cool, lol. Why in the world was it so easy for Tritannus to find the source of Sirenx and let it be taken without a fight? Honestly, the writers are really not making this season challenging or consistent. Sources of pure magic of all things should be ridiculously guarded and hard to find! Try next to impossible. Daphne, if you shriek in terror one more time I'm stripping you of your Rocalucce guardian status. She's supposed to be the strong-of-heart-and-mind older sister, but she's kind of been acting like a sissy every time Tritannus says something. Come on, you used to have a backbone! You don't back down even in the lair of the bad guy! Oh yeah, now time to weigh in on Sirenix: I do like the Sirenix song. It's catchy. And I like the transformation dances the girls perform. Like when Layla smacked her fist into her palm with kung-fu attitude and the ribbons appeared around her arm. I thought Musa should be doing more dancing, like breaking out Dance Dance Revolution moves! But Tecna's transformation? I have to say that one took the cake. I would call that one the Trigonometry Math dance! xD I could practically see her making sine-cosine waves. Alright, and now my criticisms. *ring ring* "Hello? Cirque du Soleil? I think we found some of your missing circus performers." The eyes? Too buggy. Too big. CGI makes them look more out of place. Same with their proportions. The outfits? We do have to stick with their costumes for the next 13 episodes (and probably longer) so I'm not really thrilled with the circus pants. I'm really not sure what Straffi was imagining with his Sirenix look, but the pants should not have been one of them. I have no idea what striped circus pants have to do with the power of the Infinite Ocean. The wings at least look like gills maybe? And the hair styles are okay, nothing super wow-ing, but at least alright. I think I can even live with the weird coloration. The arm banding is nice. Reminiscent of the Enchantix in some ways. Now if I never had to see the girls from the waist down again, I'd be alright with Sirenix for the rest of the season. xD And lastly, the 3D. Yep, sorry, I must get this out. To be good, I'm shoving it all in a Spoiler Box in case others don't want to read this. I'm not looking to ruin anyone's enjoyment of the show at any rate. Also, this may as well be a research paper with how long it is... sorry.
I know these are strong opinions, because let's face it, I do prefer 2D animation and admit to that. But I'm just asking for people to hear me out and understand my reasoning. I'm not necessarily trying to win anyone over either way (the CGI scenes are already made and there's nothing I would ever be able to do about it anyway), but in my opinion the CGI is not designed for the tv series part of the franchise. It works for the movies, and I have no problem with those. The television series on the other hand started out as 2D (which is why I loved it in the first place) and the animation only got BETTER with every new season.
So I come again to my age old question: why fix something that isn't broken? This is not a snub on CGI either. CGI is good, there's no discrediting that. The Winx animation crew did a good job, especially for a tv series-- it's definitely not Dinosaur King *shiver*. Actually, I am a little offended on behalf of the 2D animation that the animators think it not worthy of the transformation scenes anymore. I find 2D animation to be excellent and classic in its own right, and in my opinion brighter than CGI (there's just no substituting the rich colors of 2D). Neither animation style is better, because that's like comparing apples to oranges. They will always be two different avenues of animation. But each have their own strengths. In example, with funny proportions like those of the Winx girls, I believe CGI does a worse job of masking the "weirdness". The 2D animation style is great for cartoony/fantasy world humans, creatures, and settings. I find that the bold lines and bright colors mask any problems and actually accentuate the incredible. I have also found that CGI has a tendency to "normalize" whatever I am watching. Once you add shadows and depth, everything becomes a little too real. I'm watching Winx Club... I don't think I need it to feel real, if you know what I mean. ; )
I admit I've always been a bigger fan of 2D and my opinion is swayed considerably. Classic Disney style, it's just gorgeous and always will be not matter what new styles emerge. But putting that aside, I'm a firm believer in the original first season animation style of a tv series, that if it starts out in one animation style it should stay in that style-- improvements are welcome, of course. Innovation is great, I see it all around me in movies and other television series. Innovations do not necessarily mean jumping animation styles though, i.e. 2D to CGI. I'm stressing 2D in this particular animated series for good reason. If Straffi wants to make a whole new animation and start it off in CGI, kudos to that. Heck, if Winx Club started off being in CGI that would be good too! No problem there. I go back to my main statement though: the 2D animation looks phenomenal and has great detail and color, what was wrong with keeping it through the seasons? Evolution of 2D animation does not dictate CGI to be the next and obvious step. Innovation could simply be improving upon 2D animation. Why does CGI automatically trump all 2D animation? I get the feeling that the world believes 2D is behind the times, that CGI is the next and only logical next step in animation. That would mean 2D is dead and out the window-- and it's not. More like CGI is a whole different animation style all its own. Innovation will always bring different styles to the surface of course. However, we're not comparing one version of an mp3 player to its next generation. We're comparing two competing styles. Two different art styles. Art styles do not die. Like book genres. Just because dramas may have come before comedies does not mean dramas are less qualitative or important. (In reality, I have no idea which of those really came first, ha ha.) I do know that there are a lot of fans who have enjoyed (and prefer) the tv series part of the franchise for its original 2D animation style. Both animation styles ARE good, but crossing the animation styles is just dangerous and unfitting.
Well, thank you to whomever read this and heard me out. I know not everyone will feel the same way or as strongly as me, but I'm just grateful to put this out there and have it off my chest.
In the end, both styles have their strong points. I suppose it all comes down to opinion at that point. More pics:
Just more pictures of the 2D evolution. It looks stellar.

i really like the transition to 3D, the whole infinite ocean thing was really cool plus the way they got their sirenix was much better than any other power they've gained. it was tedious and took half the season, plus the group was split up most of the time so the only two times we saw them all transform at once was the first and last times they achieved their harmonix. Which for me was much much better than any other transformation, it almsot topped Enchantix with their quest to gain it but i still stand by the fact that all of them gaining a transformation at once is annoying.
This was one of my favorite episodes of Season 5. And the way Sirenix had a sumpreme guardian was a big improvement to me. It just proves how unique the transformation is to gain.
But im always going to have complaints. Firstly WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE HAIR CHANGE IGINIO, SERIOUSLY NO. JUST NO. I dont like it one bit. Aisha looks cheap, seriously any other colour but they had to make her blonde. Flora's hair would look cute pink if they hadnt have picked such a horrendous shade of magenta. Stella's hair resembles the colour of vomit to me. And Tecna seemed like a lazy attempt to me, purple seriously? I have no complains on bloom or musa, her sirenix transformation is crime enough though. Green and red? no thankyou.
Plus Tritannus looks like a botoxed version of voldemort. The only characters i liked in 3D where The trix (who look amazing in the negative version of sirenix) and Daphne who hasnt changed since day 1.
And to close my rant (sort of) the part were they where trying to gain Sirenix with that riddle the book gave them, i was like SERIOUSLY, LIKE REALL? i know its a kids show but the winx seem to always 'look within' and then the only time the future of their powers relies on it passes their heads. i wish there was more of a fight between then and Tritannus also. But i think this is where the season really starts to pick up, now that the transformation stuff is over and done with.

Thanks Tea, it was a really thought out post, that's for sure. And I know it's one of two opinions, but sometimes you just want to put an idea out there and see what sticks and what sinks. It felt good either way.
P-Girl, I'm sorry you think I'm arguing, and specifically with you. I know we've never seen eye-to-eye with the 3D bits and I understand that there are going to be groups who like it or don't like it. That's okay. The reason I wrote that "rant" (and put it in a spoiler box so others don't have to read it) was to get my feelings out in an open environment. It is thorough, but I'm not shoving it down anyone's throat. The reader still has to agree with my reasoning in the end. I want to promote ideas here, but I'm not trying to make you and others mad. If I do that than I've defeated my purpose of sharing my opinion. However, I honestly feel that you have been purposefully antagonistic to the things I have said more than once in the past, even when I've never pointed a comment or opinion in your direction. I was hoping by putting my feelings in a spoiler box that you might just ignore my opinions on the matter and not start an altercation. Why not just ignore my opinion if you truly mean "Let's just agree to disagree"? I never called you to respond to my post, you chose to. I hid it away and you actively opened it and got upset at my opinions (which I am entitled to share without such antagonism, I believe). I've tried very hard in the past not to engage you in arguments because they just aren't worth it. Passion is worth my time. A little drama is fun. But getting frustrated and arguing? No, I don't do that. I know in the end this is a children's cartoon and if it ended tomorrow my life would go on just fine.

Yep, I liked Tangled. Good story, nice character designs, and they did a great job with the 3D. The CGI movies definitely have their strong points.
I hear you on the new proportions, like the eyes. If they could keep the shapes and design more like the original 2D that would be help the change-over between 2D to 3D and back to 2D again.
I just thought of something else relating to these underwater adventures. When's the last time we've focused on Layla and her water realm powers? How many episodes was that ago they mentioned her relationship to the mermaid king? I know we always tend to harp on Bloom for getting the spotlight and all, but really this should be much more about Layla and it has not been. The water is Layla's realm. It is her family (uncle, aunt, and cousins) that are being attacked. Sirenix should have been something she knew about, coming from the water world of Andros. And has she been able to offer much at all in the way of knowledge or leadership? The reality is Layla should be leading this group of water adventures, or at least be at Bloom's side if nothing else. Bloom is fire, the antagonist to water. Layla is water. Again, who should this water plot circle around?
And Roy? Where has he been? We've been in sore need of a little entertainment and drama in these past few gem searching episodes. Having more tension between Roy and Layla would have been fun and a great plot point.
