Does the topic about weither Mirta is a witch or a fairy ever get addressed in future episodes? In the one episode they showed her as a fairy and it was really confuseing

Posted by: P-girl Apr 24 2007, 3:11 PM

I don't think it's that confusing, the way I look at it.
Witches and Fairies are, in fact, the same; girls with magical powers.
I think it goes like this: if a girl is born with magical powers, she can choose to be a witch or a fairy, kind of like a profession
But just like so many times, people can make the wrong decisions, or are pressured by peers and parents. I think that's the deal with Mirta, she first became a witch, but it obviously wasn't to her liking, and after she met the Alfea fairies, she decided; 'I want that! I want to protect, I want the wings and the sparkles! I want to be a fairy!'.
That's how I look at it.

Posted by: Eechye Apr 24 2007, 3:31 PM

I Read it from Somewhere in Wikipedia ( Got deleted, dunno why)

As long as it is a Magical being, they can be either Fairy or Witches

To Prove that

It is said in one of the Episode ( Not sure it was in 4Kids )

Ms. Griffin coundnt Beat Ms. Faragonda in Enchantix Form Cause it was too powerful

And if you notice on Winxclub.Com site, Ms. Faragonda was once a Witches

Posted by: Jennygirl578 Apr 24 2007, 8:10 PM

good points...I hope that they show more of mirta in upcoming episodes

Posted by: 99RedBalloons Apr 24 2007, 8:28 PM

I don't like the lack of clarity surrounding this subject. Though it's true that the Italian website says Miss Faragonda was once a witch, it doesn't say that she is now a fairy or that she is no longer a witch, nor does she ever use a fairy form. In fact, she flies (not levitates) without the use of wings, indicating to me that she's a witch.

yeah but she still did get her enchantix, but yeah i think they can choose to change if they have a change of heart or something like that.

It Kind of annoys me that you sould just change like that but I'm happy for mirta

Or so the English version claims. Being a fairy or a witch seems pretty genetic to me, not something one could change by emotional or behavioral means.

Posted by: Abby Apr 25 2007, 9:39 PM

yeah idk. but in the rai due version did they say faragonda got her enchatnix too? so that makes both versions messed up..

Posted by: Selena Apr 27 2007, 12:38 AM

I think it's like, your expected to be a witch or fairy given your ancstery. Witches powers are drawn from dark and fariy powers are drawn from light (their winx).
In 'Shadows in Bloom' when she steals Alfea's part of the codex, Teacna says "Her power is not even being drawn from her winx, but some thing much darker."*

So the diffrence is where you draw you powers from.

I'd love to see the pics of mirta as a fairy, I only saw it in the episode

Posted by: Connie Apr 30 2007, 12:00 AM

Enchantix? where?

Posted by: MusicalStella Apr 30 2007, 12:21 AM

My guess would be that it is addressed in the Rai version but because of their stupid edits, 4Kids cut it out. I'd ask an Italian member for the full story.

Posted by: Abby May 1 2007, 9:26 PM

no i don't think it was. I know blossom from winxdreams made a fan art of what she thought mirta would look like in her enchantix.

Posted by: P-girl May 1 2007, 9:29 PM

Not to mention there are some photoshopped 'Mirta Enchantix' floating around, with her head, pasted on some enchantix body, which is obviosly fake.

Posted by: Abby May 1 2007, 9:50 PM

yeah any image is fake unless someone is claiming that her fairy outfit is enchantix but that doesn't even look enchantix, it has no big wings.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 1 2007, 10:13 PM

Mirta wouldn't get an Enchantix. They don't focus on her character nearly enough.

Posted by: Connie May 1 2007, 10:39 PM

Did Mirta even get her charmix yet?

Posted by: Abby May 1 2007, 11:30 PM

who knows, she probably would get it they just wouldn't show it she would just pop up with it.

Posted by: fullmoon May 2 2007, 2:22 AM

I don't even think she got her enchantix yet. She is still a freshman I think since she just became a fairy.

Posted by: MusicalStella May 2 2007, 7:46 PM

No, I believe she's the same age as the other Winx girls. Becoming a fair doesn't automatically demote her to freshman.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 2 2007, 10:32 PM

True. She's at least a sophmore, if not a junior, but if she doesn't even have her Charmix yet (which I don't think she does), it doesn't seem very plausible that she would be able to get her Enchantix.

Posted by: Abby May 3 2007, 3:04 AM

yeah she is just going to be less on track than the others in her class.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 3 2007, 1:08 PM

Of course, who's to say all the others girls got their Charmix and Enchantix in the second and third years, respectively? It's entirely possible that they...didn't. As Miss Faragonda said, they would just remain exactly as they were before.

Posted by: DuelMasterP May 3 2007, 10:44 PM

I figure that it's just learning the other side's magic. Kinda like if we learn another country's language and culture. If we live in another country for so long we end up slipping into their traditions, even occasionally picking up their accent, yet we can still revert back to our homeland's culture and language when we want to.

Basically, Mirta's just getting the best of both worlds (although she's probably slacking on her witch training...)

Posted by: fullmoon May 4 2007, 1:18 AM

Maybe she started late though. I thinks she must of gave up being a witch.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 4 2007, 2:43 AM

I want some actual explanation for that whole suddenly-fairy thinger...

Posted by: Abby May 4 2007, 2:53 AM

I do too but it looks like we won't get it.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 4 2007, 4:16 AM

I'm sure we won't. I bet her fairy transformation was just eye candy in general; I love that she's got it, but I hate that it comes out of nowhere and also goes nowhere.

Posted by: Jennygirl578 May 4 2007, 2:54 PM

I think they def should give her some more air time, at least enough so everything is made clear...you think they would show her a bit more just because shes supposed to be good friends with the girls

Posted by: fullmoon May 5 2007, 2:31 AM

Didn't she just pop up out of no where into Alfea. I went to wikepedia and it has all these info about her like her roommate.

Posted by: Abby May 5 2007, 2:46 AM

well in season 2 she is shown in the rai due version for layla dance dancing with layla and francine (that is laylas roomate I think) and in laylas room when she was practicing.

yeah i think its somethin like that too.the girl can choose which type of energy she wants to channel her magic to-negative/positive.its not that you cant use negtiv energy to do good things or +ve for evil things, its just the nature of the power that determines if you are a fairy or witch

Posted by: fullmoon May 9 2007, 1:05 AM

Hmm...that is true...it could be in your blood though that determines if you are a witch or fairy.

I agree. I mean, we didn't even know that is was coming (seeing her in her fairy outfit) it was just... there. Kind of randomly placed it seems if you ask me... I bet if there wasn't an episode about alfea being attacked or something, we wouldn't have seen her fairy outfit ever, (thats just what I think though)

I know she has a small role.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 10 2007, 1:02 AM

I bet the producers didn't even consider the implications of showing Mirta as a fairy. She was at Alfea, therefore she wore a fairy outfit and had fairy wings. Case closed.

P.S., Purityangel, could you shrink your sig down to a standard size, please?

Posted by: fullmoon May 10 2007, 2:34 AM

She is like a side character. The teachers are showed even more than her.

Posted by: Jennygirl578 May 10 2007, 3:34 AM

there are books and comics out that have side stories and stuff, I wonder if its addressed in one of them

Posted by: fullmoon May 10 2007, 4:34 AM

Maybe it is. In comics, it has more information than the show sometimes.

Posted by: Abby May 11 2007, 2:50 AM

it probably is. unfortunately the usa comics were cancelled and I have no way of getting any other ones (i wouldn't understand italian ones anyways) since on ebay i don't have paypal so I can only use money orders...

Posted by: fullmoon May 11 2007, 2:56 AM

I guess we'll never know why she ended up in Alfea all of a sudden unless they make a episode about her she got there.

Posted by: 99RedBalloons May 11 2007, 11:27 AM

Which they won't. Anyone know why the comics were cancelled in the US?

Posted by: Connie May 11 2007, 10:52 PM

Maybe no one was buying since they dont sell anywhere here where I live

Posted by: Abby May 12 2007, 7:58 PM

I don't know, I have always wondered why they were canceled.

Posted by: fullmoon May 12 2007, 8:40 PM

Maybe they thought it wasn't worth it to translate and print it out. I don't know for sure.

I miss it, I am so jealous that italy, france, and a ton of other countries have so many magazines with cool things that come with it!

Yea, that is probably because they made the cartoons.

I bet that they weren't selling well.

That seems to be the case with most winx merchandise in the US, they don't sell well, so the stores just drop selling them. Such a shame. sleep.gif

And this is why I'm thankful that ebay exists.

That where i got my WinX Club Magazine, i not sure if it allow Pre-order shipping, since i always buy it at the nearest book store

And by the way, It is in English, and the storyline is way different then TV show, that make it interesting to read

Posted by: fullmoon May 16 2007, 12:19 AM

Cool! I didn't know such a site existed.

Posted by: Abby May 17 2007, 11:45 PM

Thanks for the link but it looks like it only goes to malaysia and singapore. oh well, I might go on ebay or something because I want a new winx magazine to read... I wish that site would have been to america! That's a cool site though!

Posted by: jenn May 18 2007, 9:02 AM

I live in singapore but I don't buy the magazines now.I used to but after a few months,I think it is issue 8 and 9,the illustration start to get really weird.bloom kinda look fat.
they changed it back now, although I still did not buy it as the storyline is a little random, meaning that the story is not continued.and there is no suspense to it.

Posted by: bloom-enchantix-charmix Jun 5 2007, 4:19 PM

even in the 4kids version when stella and layla were saving miss griffin , she said that i couldnt beat faragonda when she got her enchantix so i hav a thought that maybe maybe when u become a realy powerful fairy and get your enchantix and everything u dont hav to transform bcoz miss faragonda is definitly a fairy rite now and she never transforms when she wants to use her powers. and we know that she does hav an enchantix
so wat do u guys think?

I guess we'll never know why she ended up in Alfea all of a sudden unless they make a episode about her she got there.

it was explained,in season one of the rai due episode, after the battle with the witches, lucy asked her if she wanted to come back to cloud tower since she stayed at alfea with flora because she got turned into a pumpkin.
but she said she wanted to stay at alfea and lucy said,'suit yourself'.
I am guessing this part got cut out by the 4kids version...

Posted by: Abby Jun 19 2007, 5:00 AM

actually they had some kind of talk like that, mirta said that she was going to stay at alfea as an exchange student and lucy just said something like "why would anyone wanna be a fairy" or something like that.

Posted by: Connie Jun 19 2007, 10:43 PM

Yeah I think the talk was somewhere at the very end of season one

We'll in Episode 11 of Season 3, Stormy said that Mirta is a fairy in a witche's body... so thar's why she is nice and transforms as fairy.

Case closed! ^_^

Posted by: mimi_x3 Jul 28 2007, 12:32 AM

yeah i remember seeing her as a fairy in season 3 and i just thought that you could like chose depends on like your mind like the witches they have different taste and mind so they decided to become witches like ms.griffen and ms.faraganda used to be in the same school so that means they once was in the same path i think it was being witches but then ms.faraganda thought differenty i guess ; i could be wrong blink.gif

Posted by: Riliana Jul 31 2007, 6:46 AM

Well Since Mirta was once a witch, it seems that you have the option to be either a fairy or a witch. No matter what your bound to actually be.

Posted by: Princess Rissa Mar 28 2008, 12:54 AM

Acutually Mirta Is a Fairy in a witches body

Posted by: Zentron Mar 28 2008, 3:48 PM

I think she always was meant to be a fairy, but because of her friendship with Lucy, went to Cloud Tower and trained as a Witch.

Posted by: Abby Mar 28 2008, 8:37 PM

I'm pretty sure you do have a choice, most of the time if your brought up with a mother as a witch you will grow up in the teachings of a witch and you will therefore be a witch. Same thing with a fairy but I believe you always have a choice on what path your choosing, it just might be very hard to change, especially at Mirta's age being a teenager already (seeing as most normal witches and fairy's have already discovered and worked out how to use their powers)

Posted by: BloomKianna Mar 29 2008, 12:22 AM

Well in the 1st season she was witchling at cloud tower but then she got shifted to Alfea in the second season & her fairy form was released in episode 11 season 3.
Another thing is that one of the versions pronounce her name ~Mirr-tah~ and the other one pronounces ~Mer-da~

Domino, Bloom
Solaria, Stella
Linphea, Flora
Melody ,Musa
Zenith, Tecna
Andros, Layla (all made up)

Posted by: mightymarty2 Apr 1 2008, 7:26 AM

are you sure as that sounds like where they come from

Posted by: Abby Apr 1 2008, 9:42 PM

those are the planets or galaxies or whatever they are called that they come from.

Posted by: AnnieBelle Apr 1 2008, 10:39 PM

xD I was at Wal-Mart one day, back in like, 2005. I picked up a book. It stated Bloom's last name as Jones. So in the 4kids dub her last name is Jones, technically.
Yep, and those last names are just the realms they're from.
Maybe they should use 'em as cover names on earth, maybe they don't really [the ones from Magix] have last names!

{I heard that for like 1 episode in some version or another, they pronounced Mirta like 'Marr-tah.' Confirmation?}

Posted by: winxclub-joy Apr 2 2008, 11:11 AM

I agree with musa! She should never of been a witch in the first place!

Posted by: AnnieBelle Apr 3 2008, 10:06 PM

...Maybe her parents made her be a witch?
I read a really good fanfiction about that several months ago...

Posted by: Princess Rissa Apr 5 2008, 1:42 AM

yeah I agree WinxFairyAlianne if she was going to be a fairy then she souldn't have been a witch I mean she's way to nice to be a witch

Posted by: MorriganAensland Apr 5 2008, 2:39 PM

But doesn't that defeat the whole concept of the idea not all witches are bad in the series? I was always under the impression the two schools were meant to have a "loyal adversary" stance towards each other, where the respect each other and foster the other's growth by being their foil.

Honestly, I can say in my opinion that the series really fumbled with this one. It's the same with Harry Potter, with how maybe a handful of exceptions at all, Slytherin House as one step away from being all Death Eaters... which is pretty disturbing when it was implied in Book IV that Salazar and Godrick were best friends.

Posted by: Abby Apr 6 2008, 4:37 PM

yeah, I always thought witches and fairies in the series weren't exactly enemies. I mean they do dislike each other but they do respect the schools, they both have magic powers and the witches don't like being ruled over by evil guys like Lord Darkar or Baltor the same as fairies don't like it.

Posted by: Calumny Weeyico Apr 20 2008, 2:00 AM

really??????? icon_confused.gif: icon_confused.gif:

Posted by: AnnieBelle May 23 2008, 3:10 AM

That's what is stated in one of the chapter books released by 4kids TV {read it at Borders yesterday...xD}, that her last name was Jones.
So, in 4kids, her last name is Jones. In Italian, who knows?

Posted by: Jahnavi May 30 2008, 9:35 AM

I don't think they gave the girls (or any of the characters, for that matter) last names in the Italian version.

Posted by: MorriganAensland Jun 9 2008, 4:39 AM

Probably not Jones, if she actually has one. Doesn't sound Italian.

Posted by: Abby Jun 10 2008, 4:02 AM

That was probably just something to make Bloom's Earth family more realistic having a last name. Jones isn't even creative though, its very common.

Posted by: Riiana Jul 17 2008, 9:28 PM

Do any of them have Surnames in any versions?

I'm not sure, just Bloom's that is mentioned in some books or something, I'm not sure where that even came from though.

Well, that depends if they officially adopted her, which I'm sure they did. I just don't know about the last name at all. What book did you read this in?

Posted by: Abdu 6b Aug 15 2008, 1:38 AM

I also heard it was Peters!

Posted by: Hirondelle Aug 16 2008, 1:46 AM

But it just doesn't make any sense to me if the original producers decided on "Peters" as her last name. It's English & German; most definitely not Italian...
I can see 4kids writing that, but if that's the case than it's not official to me..

Anyway, on topic, I think Mirta doesn't harbor enough dark/negative feeling to make a good witch. I guess in that universe it's just about the kind of nature the person is...

Posted by: Music123 Aug 18 2008, 12:11 PM

I think Mirta is a witch that became a fairy

Posted by: humbu111 Aug 18 2008, 4:29 PM

Posted by: Hirondelle Aug 18 2008, 5:24 PM

Oh okay then, I was just wondering if 4kids had a hand in writing it or not.

Posted by: humbu111 Aug 18 2008, 5:32 PM

Sorry, I'm not sure...

Posted by: P-girl Jan 16 2009, 7:34 AM

4Kids, definately. In Rai, it's very clearly made that girls with magical powers can CHOOSE between Witch and Fairy, like an education. (And, just like an Education, your parents and peers can pressure you into it, and just like Education you can make mistakes, so the 'She didn't belong in Cloud Tower because she didn't like it there', is kinda a lame excuse to prove the contrary.)

Posted by: mightymarty2 Jan 16 2009, 6:40 PM

i thought she also left to get taught different things and as she did not fit in as she was too nice and kind

Posted by: P-girl Jan 16 2009, 6:44 PM

Yes, but still, it was a choice, that was my point. In the Winx world, you aren't born a witch or fairy. You're born with magical powers, and you can choose what to become.

I second that!

However, you also have to consider that they will need to learn other arts as a source of income after this. We have seen magix functions almost the same as earth, with police, business people, service, etc.., and unless she is a princess or high authority, she won't just be the planet's guardian, meaning that she may continue to learn another, non-magical profession. Besides, like said before, to imagine that the "two" magical school in magix can take all the magical generation is asbund. In H.Potter, its stated that the magical population is very small. so the 630 students is a good number. In alfea, we supposed to have an entire universe. As much as I credit Straffi, i believe that he made the show without much concentration in the setting, like because its a kids show, simply put all these ideas in and tried to work through it. While its not supposed to be complicated for young ones, its some complicated for grown-ups, but hey, its a kids show, right? We really can't complain.

Yes, but still, it was a choice, that was my point. In the Winx world, you aren't born a witch or fairy. You're born with magical powers, and you can choose what to become.

I never saw RAI, how do you finalise your choice?

*Sigh* I'm talking about Mirta's choice. She CHOOSE to become a fairy over a witch. No 'She's a fairy in a Witch's body'-nonsense like in 4Kids, she's a girl with Magical powers, who CHOOSES to become a Fairy instead of a Witch.

I get that, I'm just asking if they say that after you have made your desicion, how do you "become" a witch or fairy?

You simply set your mind to it. It's not as if Witches can't transform *Points at the Trix and their Regular/Battle outfits* I keep giving the 'Education' comparison, because it's that easy.

Okay (I never knew the witches could transform, its not in 4kids)

Posted by: P-girl Jan 16 2009, 9:15 PM

It's implied in the comics. And seriously, if they use it in a mall, how hard can it be?

I'm glad Mirta became a fairy, i used to always think and hope she would become the 7th Winx

Er.... why? The only REAL difference is morality. You become a fairy to protect people, you become a witch to.... well, basically to use magic for your own gain.

It's not about the difference for me really, i just think she makes a better fairy i guess, besides i never seen a difference she was never evil (that's how 4kids tried to play it off as just because you're a witch you have to be evil didn't they hear of Sabrina? lol) , i just like her as a fairy
