I didn't really see a topic that was just discussing the second movie alone, so I thought I'd make one since I just finished watching it. I actually really liked it. There were parts that I genuinely laughed at or thought were cute, so that is always a good sign (especially since most movies made for a younger audience don't get that kind of reaction out of me anymore). There are a few things I just have a gripe about though:

1. Where is Sky's mother?
2. Poor Kiko, he never was given the attention after the first like 10 min of the film.
3. So are sky and bloom officially engaged at the end or what? I was expecting them to have the marriage at the end of the movie.

I also thought that it seemed to reference a lot of other "popular" movies in certain scenes. The one that sticks out in my mind the most is the fact they were on an old style ship and Bloom and Sky were fighting back to back and took a moment to kiss, exactly like Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

Anyone else see the movie and want to discuss it or have some thoughts on it?

I think comments about the movie have been made else where but I am not sure a specific topic was made.

I am fairly sure Bloom and Sky are engaged. I have no idea about the first question and well Kiko has become bottom of the priority order behind winx, specialists, pixies, pixie pets and pegg. The kiss scene, I think that has been done many times not just pirates of the caribbean.

I did enjoy it but as has been said many times the timeline made no sense.

It just reminded me of that since they are fighting together and are on an old style ship. And I just wanted Bloom to just reject all the royal stuff and be like "I want to be normal" instead of almost playing into it, like when did she start calling her foster parents by their actual names instead of mom and dad? Oh well.

My biggest concerns were the following:

1. isn't this movie set after season 4
2. then why is nabu alive
3. didnt he die
4. no im serious
5. is he a part of the undead
6. didnt they switch back to enchantix at the end of season 4
7. theres all believix going on
8. why isn't nabu dead
9. they were already engaged
10. nabu is alive

Two words:

Alternate. Continuity.

We accept the comics as this, so why not the movies?

I would be all onboard for alternate contnuity in the movies, if the girls weren't using Believix transformations. Believix wouldn't make any sense without season 4, unless the movie is set somewhere in the middle of season 4, which doesn't make sense either.

Or the movie might be a complete sidestep, which I'm willing to get onboard with in itself.

Yes, the whole Believix thing is a bit of a confusing thing, but I take an unexplained transformation over the dead rising from the grave.

But that's how I usually roll. I tend to watch things separate from the bigger scheme, since a whole lot of enjoyment can be lost if you're too busy focussing on everything that's 'wrong'.
I didn't go 'Why's Nabu alive?' during the movie. I went 'Wow, they gave Oritel an actual character arc and some awesome moments?' or 'That fight was sooo cool!' and 'They actually explore the dynamic of having two pairs of parents? Neat!'

I know, I didn't say that I didn't enjoy the movie, I thought it was awesome! I loved how they put the spotlight on Oritel and made him really dynamic and interesting, the movie was adorable and hilarious at times! But it really bothered me that they didn't think this detail through.

I like to see some continuity though, but I guess that's just me. Personally I am not a big fan of all the comics. Maybe I'm just putting too much analysis into a children's series though.

I blame lack of communication. I get the feeling the movie and the season were made side-by-side, and when the decision got made to kill Nabu off, the movie was too far in production to turn it back and fix it.

I think the movies are inter related as season 3 followed by the movie fitted in nicely. They graduated and then went off to help Bloom find her parents.

Well, AnnieBelle and I watched it together and that's exactly the reason we came up with! The Believix thing too, because it was only very briefly in the last episode of season 4 that they showed them switching back to enchantix, undoubtedly the movie team was fixed on believix from the beginning and had no clue that was going to happen, same with his death. Secondly, they could just as easily pass the switch back as a mistake in itself, since it's, again, really brief.

Exactly! So, naturally, one would assume that the movie would follow season 4's plot. But since it seems a bit fluid, it happens exclusively in Domino and it would be easy to ignore it (Sky proposed to Bloom in the first movie!) without losing a mayor plotline. The Anchestral witches could easily be brought back (because they're ~super strong~) or just written off, whichever works. This movie might as well have been a way to write them off, since they've been the underlying villains for most of the series. Defeated in the first movie, but left with a promise of a return. Maybe they regretted that short scene in the end of the first one afterall! Maybe there's still hope for plotlines that are not about Bloom! Her problems have been solved, I hope they'll be able to move on.

Then again this was an adorable movie aimed at little girls and I'm reading too much into it.

I also think sometimes I read too much into this stuff at times! But anyways, I'm sure they will always come up with some problem for bloom even though everything in her life should be fixed and perfect by now...

Honestly, I watched 45 minutes of this movie and couldn't finish it. I felt it was dull and hardly anyone was in character. Also, it seems a bit irrelevant to the series and was fairly confusing.

I agree with you. It was dull and kinda boring and some of the things they said were a bit confusing. Compared to season 4 the movie was boring.

I really like the final battle...but that's...preeeetty much it. it's just such a disappointment. it doesn't fit into the series events at all, but it also doesn't work as a sequel to the first movie. it could plot wise, but then why are they in Believix form? And this is just a pet peeve, but I hate when Winx does "no more magic" story lines. Winx without magic is like watching an animated version of Gossip Girl; entertaining, but not for too long.

Wait.... Gossip Girl has people fighting their own clones with Martial Arts on a flying Pirate Ship? I've been missing out!
