Magix Club's Forum _ TV _ Thundercats (2011)

So, yeah, they just came out with a reboot for the old 1980's cartoon, Thundercats. I know a lot of you on this site isn't old enough to remember the thundercats, but I remember that it was my favorite show growing up. Lion-o was my hero...
Anyway, here's the original theme song to thundercats, and then I'll post the trailer to the new thundercats. All the characters got redesigned.

Now, they did change MAJOR story points. Tigra is now Liono's brother, and they aren't aliens that landed on earth anymore... but the only change I really don't like is Snarf...he can't talk any more. The series will be SO different without his nagging...

Yup.... it'll be soo much better! Snarf (and the snarfs) was the worst element of the whole 80s series (just like Uni of Dungeons & Dragons and countless other annoying furry characters that plagued all 80s animated series), but this time around, I am extremely happy with how he is being portrayed!

I kind of miss Snarf though. Don't get me wrong, I like this Snarf as well, but I'll miss his "Lion-Oooooooooo"
Heck, I used to mock the king from Dokapon Kingdom because he sounded like snarf.

....

Thundercats is one of those 80s shows that I somehow COMPLETELY looked over.
Did I miss anything or should I just stick with this version?

It was a good show and had its moments, but was rather too nicey-nicey and over-populated with Americana, which spoilt it a fair bit!

How can an American show be overly American?
Or does my not-knowing this show shine trough now?

An American show or not, the series is set on a Earth, from the looks of things, several thousands of years into the future, and the main characters are aliens.... nuff said!

4kids wasn't around when Thundercats aired. It wasn't overly american at all...It wasn't really american at all considering the entire show took place on "Earth III" and the main characters were from a planet called "Thundera."

P-Girl, you don't really need to watch the old one to get this one because they changed some major plot points, but if you want to check out the old series I won't stop you. As is almost anything from that era, the animation is a bit choppy and the writing is a bit ... it could be better. But it was fun to watch when I was a kid and Lion-o was my hero. The sword of omens is one of the most epic weapons in cartoon history, and all the characters were lovable.
