I am not going to make any remarks on the CGI, ok. I kinda agree with P-Girl, give CGI a chance.
I also agree that I prefer classical 2D, but while watching the 3D movies I like the 3D version in the secret of the lost kingdom more. Magical adventure... well I kinda find that a bit disappointing. Although CGI is not-so-well done in season 5, and the main reason is probably more on budget and the quality for a tv series I assumed. (Look at Kung Fu Panda Series, their CGI quality in TV series are not-so good compared to the movie but it's still awesome!)
The reason why I say I am giving a chance for the CGI in this series is because I feel that they kinda put effort on it. There's a reason why a few of us mentioned that 3D are expensive. Besides paying for the animators, we also must pay the modellers, riggers, and VFX artists. I kinda agree with RenaEnchantix, that we have to pay more animators on the 2D side. Plus, they probably invest a lot of money developing a new 3D software just purely for a 3D animation, like tangled the movie.
Ya the 3D animation looks kinda bad in my opinion, but the reason so is because for those who went straight into 3D without going through 2D, it's hard to grab the timing right. But overall for a TV series, I think it's ok if it's for experimental.
Lastly I agree, the big gap for airing this series is not such a good idea.

Legend of Korra seems to be aimed at older viewers though. I'm in college, and all my classmates were freaking out over it during its run. Winx Club is aimed at children younger than 10, who lack patience. college kids can patiently wait for Korra to come back, while 10 year olds will wait for Winx, get bored, move onto something else, and by the time Winx comes back it's last years news and the kids who do still watch it are lame for not being current. we'll still watch it, sure, but we can't keep the show alive. fortunately Nick's already signed on for season 6, so the show can't be cancelled right now. it could just be moved to NickToons all together though. when H2O didn't do well in the ratings, Nick kept airing the new seasons, but only on TeenNick. I feel like that will be what happens to Winx. it'll keep going, but for a much smaller audience on a much more exclusive network.

QUOTE (winxclubrox23 @ Nov 15 2012, 07:53 AM) Well, I gave this one a two.
Out of all the episodes this season, it was easily the weakest. First of all, why were they holding a specialist-like competition at Alfea? Why not have some air time at Red Fountain? We've barely seen it at all this season, and it deserves some love! The fact that they were going on about Sky being amazing at wind-riding was ridiculous. Sure, he was good, but Riven has always been the best. In season 1, he would have won the race had Darcy not interfered, then again in season 2, he won the friendly race to Alfea to see the girls (I believe the stakes involved the losers doing the winner's laundry?) And honestly, would they really let a guy who has no idea how to operate a bike enter a race involving fire obstacles? Unlikely.
I hated how easy the quest was. Magical plant turns evil, the Winx are each hit once, Flora saves the day, hurrah, we all go home now. Granted, they've all been more or less like that, but this one was especially painful to watch. Aside from the torture scene, the Trix were extremely pathetic, as per usual. What happened to season 1 where they pretty well took over all of Magix, stole Bloom's powers and destroyed Red Fountain all in one go? As the seasons go by, you would think that as they gain more experience, they would gain power as well. I guess we'll have to see with Sirenix.
Also, did anyone else notice that Bloom has a poster of Flora in her bedroom, and one of herself as well? Because that's not narcissistic at all. THANK YOU. You just said, in a nutshell, everything I had a problem with in this episode. Of course, you and I are already fellow Riven-lovers (he's easily the best part of the show imo), so I knew you'd agree with my confusion/outrage about the whole Sky-is-the-king-of-wind-riders thing. (Though I'm happy to see that others noted that.) But I also adore the line about Sky not remembering how to use the bikes, but somehow being allowed to enter the incredibly dangerous race anyway. I mean, WTF? And literally my first thought when I saw the preview for this episode was, "Wait, is that ALFEA???? Seriously?"
