as of late most of the people on here know that I joined the US navy a few months back. well I have about less than two weeks of my time left (which I will post a topic about that near when I actually leave) and I've been training intensively and when I'm done I sit back and either do a youtube watching session or I start playing some freeware Indie games. some of these games have been posted before, Like Cave story and Eversion. (Eversion is kinda fun, in a Lovecraftian sort of way, Cave story appeals to my Metroid fanatic) and I've found others that I like along some of those veins.

Ika-chan - a sort of play and finish in two hours game made by Pixel (the guy who did Cave story). its got a good plot, nothing heavy, the controls are smooth, once you get use to them. anyway you're Ika-chan a squid who's trapped in Ironhead's territory. I haven't really explored all of the crevasses in it yet because Pixel does stuff like that. I would recommend it because its definitely a good stand alone game.

An Untitled Story - Another Metroidvania game. however you play as an Egg. you get power ups and other things its mostly about exploration. the plot line hasn't really revealed itself yet but it does have a fun and interesting platformer feel to it. I would suggest this if you like a metroid or castlevania game.

Ainevoltas 2 - I couldn't find the first game but its a fairly strait forward RPG-ish platformer. it does contain pixelated blood and some rather "ew" sound effects. plot is as strait as an arrow. Monster has taken over castle, its your job to defeat the main boss. its fun but it kinda drops the ball in plot line.

Aquaria - I got the demo (which is free) but the full game costs about $20. plot line is really nice sounding (wish I had $20 on me) and the game mechanics are well thought out. Zee (Zhaneel, Zhaunt, what ever you call her) could probably do a better job than me writing a description. I would highly recommend this just for the atmosphere the music and the backgrounds portray and exude from this game.

Eternal Daughter - its got a metroidvania feel to it with one exception. its like someone ramped up the difficulty to the max. its really hard to get stuff done without taking any damage. the plot line is that you're the only hope for your invaded country. even when I played this with my PC controller I was still getting my **** kicked. its not a simple game. I only suggest this one for its difficulty.

Lyle in Cube Sector - I'll put out its plot right now. Lyle's pet cat has been stolen and he wants it back. its another metroidvania game (guess what kind of games I like?) and it plays like Super Mario Bros. 2 (the one where its a revamp of a different game with Mario characters) and Metroid. the game is fairly good and the controls are decent I just wish I knew where to go. its definitely got a vibe of its own and its fairly good. I would suggest this because of its decent game play.

La Mulana - while I know the plot I can't say anything about it. anyway its done in the old MSX game system (those who live in europe will probably know this better than I) and it plays like a game called Castle of Galius. its hard and unrelenting and extremely fun (as well as HARD) to play. its not for everyone. its got a patch for english somewhere I don't recall where exactly. but the game is fairly sold and LONG if you don't know what you're doing. this game Isn't for everyone. it is harsh.

Iji - Okay this one will probably appeal to a good audience (I'm looking Particularly at YOU Nightstorm). its got some interesting game mechanics, and a very well written plot line. it also has a somewhat okay version of Pacifist/Warmonger mechanic which does change dialog and other things. however there are also some really cool and hidden stuff throughout the game. the Music is very good and fits with it. if I had to describe the game I'd say its a mix between Metroid and some RPG-ish side scrollers. I can't really say anything about the plot except that its better if you play the game. the graphics may look simple but they're fairly well done (at least by my standards). I would suggest this to anyone who's willing to check stuff out and this one is definitely well done.

Warning Forever - a Procedural bullet hell game. it basically plays like a boss rush of any top-down schmup but its really addictive! I am not a big fan of schmups but this game is very fun and it kinda tailor's its difficulty to the player. meaning that its very interesting to play. no plot to call whatsoever so its just about game play.

Fraxy - about the same as WF, but its not procedural and actually gives the player the ability to Make his own bosses. which means you can actually make your own bullet hell boss. its okay not great but definite worth a look at.

Metroidvania - games in the style of Metroid or Castlevania where its about exploration instead of just pure massacre.

Schmup - a "crude" way of Shoot'em up.

if you have or found any Indie games post them here it would be nice to see what people have found. most of the links I put up have links to the creator's websites and alternate download places. (some of them may require you to actually go off that site for download, which is better).
