Episode 2: Turn of the Golden Sorcerer

Matthew - Murdered on the first night. His face was so disfigured that he could only be identified using his clothes.

Sarah - Murdered on the first night. Her face was so disfigured that she could only be identified using her clothes.
Shane - Murdered on the first night. His face was so disfigured that he could only be identified using his clothes.
Alfred - Murdered on the first night. His face was so disfigured that he could only be identified using his clothes.

Joey - Murdered on the second day. He was found head first in the filled bath tub with a metal stake lodged into his forehead.
Gladys - Murdered on the second day. She was found on a bed with a metal stake lodged into her forehead.

Eliza - Murdered at an unknown time but found on the second day. She was found burned to a crisp with a stake in her forehead.

Christopher - Murdered shortly after everyone locked themselves in Eliza's study. He was found with a stake in his chest.

Agatha - Murdered on the second day. She was found with a metal stake in her stomach.
Walter - Murdered on the second day. He was found with a metal stake in his leg.
Frederick - Murdered on the second day. He was found with a metal stake in his knee.

Lala - Found dead on the second day. She was killed shortly after discovering Agatha, Walter, and Frederick. It is unknown whether or not she was shot by an attacker or if she killed herself.

Seagulls: When They Cry is a murder mystery created by a company called 07 Expansion. This idea is not mine, but I think it would make for a fun rp. I will not follow the story, but use the same layout that the story had.

FACT:

Once a year the Eginhard family gathers to have their annual family conference. Their family head is deathly ill and the children often quarrel over how the inheritance will be split. These debates are usually left to the adults, the children have no idea what goes on during the family conferences and they usually spend their time hanging out and playing in the guest house. The conference takes place on the Eginhard's own private island. A hurricane is coming and they will not be able to leave for quite some time. There is a murderer on the island.

FANTASY:

The island has a legend that speaks of the Golden Sorcerer: Devlin. The children were always warned to never go into the island's forests because that is where the sorcerer lived, and the sorcerer did not take kindly to uninvited guests entering his domain. Of course, these are just stories to scare the children... or are they. All of the murders follow the same pattern that the old legends speak of, and the legend ends with the sorcerer's resurrection.

After everyone on the island is dead the final survivor comes face to face with Devlin.

"Who are you?"

"I am the Goden Sorcerer: Devlin! Welcome to my game." The sorcerer exclaims while giving a mock bow.

"There's no such thing as sorcerer's or magic! You don't exist! You're just an illusion!"

"Would you like to make a wager?"

And that is how this game started.

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS

The rp'er will rp on the island until everyone is dead. Then a detective will be chosen among the rp'ers.

THE GOAL

The detective will try to prove that the culprit was a human, and that magic does not exist. The Sorcerer will try to prove that he is the culprit and that magic DOES exist.

This will be done through debates. The actual rules of the GAME will be given by the sorcerer during the rp.

THE GAME

Once everyone on the island is dead the detective will face off against the sorcerer in a debate. When the debating is done, if there is no true winner, and the detective and sorcerer still have the will to fight, the game will continue. The game will reset to the first day and the events will happen once again, but this time the sorcerer will control the world to change the way the events happen. Then when everyone is dead once again the debate will continue.

To me, this sounds like a lot of fun. Debating and talking about deep issues is something I love in RPs and the real world. Sign me up..... I may have some trouble starting tough, since I never did something like this.

Great, I'll be sure to use the npc's to keep the story going. All you need to do is make a character with the last name "Eginhard" and write out a personality for that character. Afterwards, when we have enough characters, I'll pm you specific history points about your character that may or may no become important later on.

Of course, I want to give everyone a chance, but to start out I think this should be okay. Also, if you like mystery or you want to know more about the world I'm taking this from, I suggest you download Umineko no naku koro ni and find the english patch. It's a great story and the anime doesn't do it justice at all.))

(( To Terriord: You make a character and I make up a history for your character (Basically a family history that relates you to the other rp characters.) You will be the only one who knows this history unless certain conditions are met. For example. I encourage you to have a spouse and a child. So if some people don't mind playing male characters, or don't mind playing two characters I can assign you a spouse or child...or you can talk to a friend who plans on joining and come up with your own plan. As long as I can fit it into the story it works.))

((Also, I encourage people to play characters that are in their 30's and 40's when picking an adult character with a child. You don't have to have a spouse, you can be a single parent...and so on.))
((For example: P-girl's age is 22 and Melgirl's age is 19. I will classify them as *children* characters because it is unlikely...though not impossible by any means... that they are already married or have children. Again, not impossible, but unlikely. Also, if they do have children at that age, it may be difficult to rp with babies in the rp. Not impossible, just difficult.

So, to be considered an adult character it may be better to make your age in the 30's and 40's...))

Relation with Family - Eliza has gotten old in her years and she is currently on her death bed. However, in her younger years she was known as being the ruthless head of the Eginhard family. Her business sense and genius has earned her billions, and her eccentric habits have made her famous. She doesn't come out of her study anymore, and only the oldest son, his wife, and a few other servants may see her.

Relation with family - William is the heir to the Eginhard family. He carries this title with pride and does not hesitate to use his full authority to keep his younger siblings in line. He's a bit arrogant, but he is also a serious man that takes his roll in the family seriously. Even though he is under constant attack, because his siblings are trying to take his title away from him, he still loves his family. He loves his wife and dotes on his daughter. He keeps his immediate family in line with a firm hand. IS THE ONLY PERSON OTHER THAN HIS WIFE AND THE HEAD BUTLER THAT CAN SEE ELIZA IN PERSON UNLESS ELIZA LEAVES HER ROOM.

Business Relations - William deals with stocks and bonds and he also owns quite a few hotels and amusement parks. He is well known in the business world, but there have been rumors going around that his business ventures are beginning to fail one by one.

Relationship with family - Matthew is the second oldest child of Eliza. He clings on to the hope that he may be able to take the title of family successor away from his brother, William. He uses every chance he can get to undermine his older brother's authority. He was married once before and that is the wife that he had his son, Alexander, with. His wife died six years ago and he married second wife soon after. It is suspected that he may have been involved in an affair, and he wasn't horribly upset when his first wife died. He loves his son, and he tries to act cool in font of him, but due to his second marriage their relationship is rocky at best.

Busines Relations - Matthew works at a bank. He's actually the owner of the bank. It would seem that all of the Eginhard family have important business relations. However, his bank is going under and people are beginning to suspect that he is stealing money from the bank that he owns. This could put his entire family at risk.

Relationship with Family - Lillian is the oldest out of the two daughters that Eliza has. She too wishes to take the title as heir to the family fortune from her older brother, William. It is no secret that she wants to prove to her mother, Eliza, that she's every bit as good as her older siblings. She believes that the next heir should be a woman just like Eliza, and doesn't hide her beliefs from anyone in her family. She loves her husband and children to death, but tends to show her daughter a bit more affection than her son. She isn't doing this on purpose of course, she just tends to show more affection to girls than boys.

Business Relations - Lillian is the only "Stay at Home" parent out of the sibling directly related to Eliza. She does help support her husband with his business, but she has no real say on what goes on with his business at all.

Relationship with Family - Sarah, being the most shy and timid of the siblings, probably is on best terms with the other siblings. She gets along with everyone fairly well. She does not care about being heir to the family fortune, but due to some rocky business ventures she is in need of some money.

Business relations - Sarah owns her own fashion design studio. It's a small business and the clothes she designs are not overly popular. She often has to stay late at work to keep her business from going under. This is why she needs money from Eliza.

Relationship with Family - Sidney is the youngest out of Eliza's children. He's not even that much older than Alexander, and he just started joining the family conferences about 6 years ago. No one in the family hates him, and no one in the family is out to get him. He often tries to lighten the mood during the family conferences.

Business relations - Sidney works for Matthew at his bank. He's pretty high up at the bank and has his brothers full trust. He has a rank of responsibility, but he's at no real risk if the bank goes under.

She is an intelligent lady that often likes to solve problems by "turning the chess board over." This means that she looks at a problem from another point of view. Example: To find a murderer she looks at the crime from the murderer's perspective and tries to find out why he did it. In the past she was somewhat cold to Alexander as a step-son, but she has warmed up to him over time and now considers him her son.

Relationship with Family - Shane is outgoing when it comes to his family and is quite loud. Sometimes this can come off as being annoying, but everyone thinks highly of him, especially his nieces and nephews. He goes out of his way to make the children happy and the rest of the family is quite thankful for this. He loves his wife and children more than anything.

Business relations - Shane owns a company that deals with food and catering services. It's actually quite successful and his family is secure. However, he isn't rich. He wants to expand but he doesn't have the funds to do so. He has no secrets, and doesn't hide the fact that he and his wife want more money.

Relationship with Family - Martin doesn't trust people, and his family doesn't trust him. His relationship with his family isn't exactly bad, but due to his untrusting nature everyone around him is a bit stand-off-ish...
He loves his daughter, and he feels bad that he and his wife both have to work and can't spend more time with her.

Business relations - He works at a bank much like Matthew and Sidney. However, he does not work at the same bank, and he isn't high up on the business totem poll. One might wonder why his wife married him. It obviously wasn't for his money.

Relationship with Family - She is the social butterfly of the family. She doesn't like the serious talk of the conference and would much rather talk about pop culture and play games when the whole family gets together. She loves talking to Sarah about fashion.

Being the second oldest out of the children she remembers Alexander the best out of the children even though he's been gone for six years.

Relationship with Family - Alexander gets along with every one just fine. His Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins all like him and everyone is really excited to see him after six long years. He's the oldest out of the children, but they still don't let him take part in the actual family conference. The reason Alexander has been gone for six years is because he's been living with his mother's parents after his mother died and his father remarried. He holds a slight grudge against his father, but he's warmed up to his new mother just fine. He's actually taken a liking to her "Turn the Chess Board Over" way of thinking. The reason he's back after six years is because his grandparents died and he was forced to return home. He can't wait to meet Alphonse, who was only two the last time Alexander saw him.

Alexander has a niece that belongs to his mother's sister. His mother's sister, Alexander's aunt, passed away recently and Alexander is something of a father figure to the seven year old girl. Right now she's being watched over by her next door neighboors because she came down with a fever and couldn't make it to the island. Her name is Alice.

Business Relations - Alexander has not yet entered the work force. He's a senior in College and he's about to graduate. Luckily the family conference takes place during one of his long breaks and he could tear himself away from his studies.

He was only nine the last time he saw him, but he remembered that Alexander use to play with him a lot when he was younger when everyone else got tired of his "adventurous" spirit. He gets along well with his sister, but he gets tired of her overbearing personality quite quickly.

He usually keeps to himself and reads books, but he also has a strange fascination with the occult. He loves to listen to stories about the Golden Sorcerer: Devlin. He even keeps a journal and tries to solve the epitaph of Twilight whenever he gets bored. He gets angry if people say that they don't believe in the Sorcerer, and gets excited when the sorcerer is mentioned. You could call this nerd a little sorcerer in the making.

Relationship with Family - Everyone loves Safia. It's pretty much and unwritten rule that if you make Safia cry you're going to be lynched by the other cousins. She blames herself, but everyone knows that if she's crying, it's most likely someone elses fault. Alphonse often pesters her to draw pictures of Devlin for her. She doesn't mind since he returns the favor by proof reading the things that she writes.

Episode 1: Legend of the Golden Sorcerer

A boat docked on the private island that will become home to the members of the Eginhard family for the duration of the yearly family conference. To say that the island was huge was like saying that the ocean was damp! The mansion wasn't even in visual range yet, and the size of the mansion wasn't anything to sneeze at either. The captain of the boat sighed when he realized that he's been coming to this island for years and he hasn't even seen the famous Eginhard Mansion, not even once!

"Well, we're here!" The captain said. "It was good seeing you again Alex. Haven't seen ya in years!"

Everyone in the Eginhard family knew the captain of this particular boat. He had taken them to the island every year, and every year, when the conference was over, he always made sure that they returned to the mainland safely.

"Good work again this year, Mr. Captain." A harsh, cracking voice sounded. It was the old woman that had worked at the Eginhard estate for... well let's not get into that. She was aged, and everyone thought of her as family.

"Oh, come on Agatha! Call me Rick!" The captain laughed.

"Oh, you silly captain! I can't start calling you Rick now! You can't teach an old dog new tricks!" Agatha laughed.

"Well, I best be off! Be careful everyone, I hear a hurricane's a comin'!" The captain said his farewells and headed back to the main land.

"Well everyone!" Agatha said with much excitement. "Welcome back!"

Abigail sat on her bed reading a book. She was not looking forward to this visit. She didn't like having to deal with all the awkward situations her family brought. she wished that she could ignore some of her cousins and stay with the adults. at least there she was not required to speak and could just sit and listen.

Caden sat quietly within the manor's living room. Word had already reached the mansion that the rest of the Eginhards had arrived, and he had no doubt that they were simply spending time sharing pleasantries with each other. It would probably take them a little while to actually make it to the mansion and begin their usual family conference.

Family meetings like this were... boring in a way, but still, it was a good way to learn how to operate such a large clan like the Eginhards.

As it turned out, Christopher was simply standing at firm attention nearby the main entrance, awaiting the arrival of the Eginhard guests. As far as his attention was concerned, the rest of the manor had been thoroughly prepared for their arrival - he probably spent a little too much time ensuring that he performed those duties well - and thus he understood that he now had to wait for his new "masters" to come and unload their orders upon him.

Abigail looked back towards the huge house on her way to the dock. As she did this she tripped on a tree root and fell to the ground. "Crap!" She mumbled to herself as she got herself up. Assessing the damage, not much was done. She rolled her ankle but the pain would go away shortly, and there was a scratch on her arm. But nothing unmanageable. She continues down the path, her large extended family just coming into view.

Anyway, I'll talk to Admin. How do I get ahold of Admin? Do I just send a pm to "Admin" or is there some other way? It's not that I'm trying to question your authority or anything, I know you're just doing your job as a moderator... I just strongly disagree on what one or two people consider bad language. From what I've seen no one has ever had a problem with the "C" word on this entire forum except one or two mods that believe it 'could' be considered bad language. Again, I won't use the word since it's against the rules, but If I can get permission from Admin that would be great.
An example to support my claim: The cartoon Rugrats. Remember that cartoon? I knew a little girl who wasn't allowed to watch it because her mother didn't like angelica. Yes, angelica was a brat, but that hardly made the show a poor influence. The "C" word may be used as a word that has the same meaning as a Cuss/Curse word, but that hardly makes it a Cuss/Curse word. It's actually used so that people don't say the stronger word. Just because one or two people think that the word might be "dirty" doesn't warrent an entire population's ban on the word.))

He Sidney wondered where his wife and child was, but he wasn't that worried. They were around family and it would be good for them to get to know them.

"Oh, we're almost there. Look, we can see the garden coming into view." Agatha said as she pointed to the Eginhard Mansion's garden. To call it simply a 'garden' did no justice to the spectacle at all. The garden was different every year and was filled with flowers of different variety all arranged to draw the eye to its beauty. Roses seemed to be the theme this year; red and white stretched out nearly as far as the eye could see. Of course, there were yellows, and blues, and pinks, but the roses...the roses were the focus.

Safia put her pencil in her pocket as she handed the picture to Alphonse "Awsome!" He said as he took grip on it. He still hid behind Safia knowing that Alexander was there. Alphonse was more attched to the younger people he was quite scared of uh shall we say grownups? Safia sighed she looked for someone to talk to but she was also kinda afraid to talk to people she hasn't seen in years. She missed being the center of atention like alphonse now was. But that was how it was.

Finally the group made it to the actual mansion. Agatha opened the large doors so that everyone could enter. The most noticable attraction would be the large portrait of Devlin. It was simple enough, a young man sitting on what appeared to be an extremely comfortable chair. He had black hair and blue eyes. His smile was nothing short of "lady killer," and he was dressed in a black tuxedo with gold trim. He looked prim and proper, but he gave off a bit of a menacing air as well.

This portrait was added just three years ago.

((Okay, I know this guy has red eyes...so imagine them as being blue... I'll edit the picture later if I have time.))

It was then that Walter, the head butler, walked around the corner. He heard, for the most part, what had happened. With Alphonse shouting it was actually kind of hard to not hear what happened.

"Young Alphonse, has anyone ever told you where the Eginhard family crest originated from?" Walter pointed to the golden out line of a one winged eagle that was embroidered into his uniform. Only BLOOD relatives and a few servants were allowed to wear it. Those that have married into the family weren't allowed to wear it at all.

The adults didn't like the children taking part in the conference. The adults had better sense than to introduce the children to the fighting and bickering that went on during those family meetings. So after dinner they always shooed the children off to the guest house to spend the night.

Caden followed the kids out the doors; it felt as though they were being put in a shed of some kind... He'd lived in the manor with his immediate family for practically all of his life, but whenever something confidential came up, only the adults were allowed within the manor. To be honest, he didn't quite like the idea of getting "kicked-out". As he walked, he just shrugged to himself. Those were the rules, after all. With his position in the family, he couldn't change nor break them.

Christopher shook his head. Abigail was always so persistent, their conversations - if they could be called as such - were like water against rock. Neither showed any sign of giving in - Abigail had her own beliefs to follow, as did Chris. But then... every now and then, a human has to have a breaking point. "Very well, I shall at least promise you that I'll consider it, Milady," he told Abigail.

Abigail liked Alexander, but she was jealous that he got to go away for college and she did not. Of course, staying on the island had its upsides.

The family had finally gathered in the conference room. This was the reason they all came to the island in the first place. Usually Eliza would lead the conference and inquire as to the affairs of her children. She wanted to know how their careers were doing and how they planned to handle things in the future. Of course, nothing her children did could match her achievements and she usually lectured them on how worthless they were to the Eginhard name. In all honesty, Eliza being absent from the meeting was actually considered a blessing by everyone in the room, though no one would say it out loud.

Today the meeting would be held by William, the family's heir. The topic, of course, would be the family inheritence. Even though William was hosting the conference in name, the siblings weren't about to let him run the show. The conference was a perfect opportunity to bring their eldest sibling down to his knees. They were not happy with the way he handled things, and because their mother wasn't around they could go all out without any worry of facing Eliza's wrath.

"Rumikub?" Joey had to admit he was as clueless about the game as Alphonse was. Not to mention the fact that a game of cards wasnt exactly his favourite way to pass time. He waited for Alex to answer Alphonse first though before he would judge whether he would play or not.
